That's right...all rental boats were removed from the OKW docks on Sunday, March 2nd. Kinda' sad...

I think I was more in love with the IDEA of rental boats than the boats themselves. We rented a couple of the little boats from there a few years ago and the speed governor was set so slow as to remove any chance of having any real fun on them.

Not just at OKW.

The 3rd-party company that runs Sea Raycers, mouse boats, and pontoon rentals at Walt Disney World has decided that they will no longer provide these vessels at rental locations at Port Orleans – Riverside, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort starting tomorrow, March 2nd, 2014.

Probably moving resort boats to DTD to reduce costs.

Will the waterbikes remain? We've enjoyed those in the past and hope to do so again! Or maybe paddle boards? or kayaks?

Renting a pontoon from POR and driving to DTD and back was a highlight of our trip two years ago. We just loved it...Always try to do something different each trip, was planning on it in June again. Guess not! how disappointing...

The Bay Lake / Seven Seas loop is quite enjoyable. (As long as there are still pontoons at the Contemporary)

thanks that is one I always wanted to do and am hoping it is still there...Might want to do it sooner than later I suppose just in case...Thanks!

We frequently used the boats at OKW, very disappointed they discontinued them there. I'm already upset that you can't rent a sailboat anywhere either:(.

I'll be in trouble now. DS really wanted to rent one on our trip to OKW a couple of weeks ago. We were really busy and just didn't get the time so I promised him a go on our next trip.

Looks like we will have to head to Contemporary instead.

I believe there is still the Yacht Club and the Grand Floridian. But its easier taking a bus to MK and walking to the Contemporary, and I prefer the Bay Lake/Seven Seas scenery (and the novelty of piloting a boat over a road at the water bridge) to Crescent Lake

You must be a really good captain if you can get a boat from the MK area to the Boardwalk. :boat:

Does that mean the "removing boats from SSR" really means no more boats at DTD? (Makes sense due to the DTD expansion that was near the boat rental area)

It appears as if the person over at Wdwt.com didn't know that SSR does not have a boat rental location. Disney operated boat transportation is not affected by this change.

Sorry for the confusion, but there was boat rental at DTD near Rainforest Cafe. That's the boat rental I presume is closing.

This is pretty disappointing. Our home resort for 10+ years was OKW. But a few years ago we sold it and purchased BLT/AKV. My husband and I were beginning to see little changes at OKW that made it less and less desirable vs other DVC resorts. Renting boats at OKW was something we did EVERY stay. Our kids really looked forward to it and it was very convenient to walk from our room to the dock and rent. To us, it was a perk of staying at that resort (and generally there are not as many at OKW as other DVC resorts). So we would have to say this is pretty sad to hear.
