I do think the old bands are phasing out. My parents who are very behind in tech and still use the old original bands are considering updating to a MB+. They haven't committed, but they're considering. Its only a matter of time before there's no other choice.

On buying a band for a little kid... My son just turned 3 and we let him choose which MB+ design he wanted and he's super excited to wear his band. I don't understand the hesitation/aversion to buying one for little kids.

I like a lighter weight band that I don’t have to charge every night so we like the MB2. I was glad to see more options show up today!! I hope they keep making the 2 in addition to the +.

Thanks everyone!! Yesterday morning (Sunday) they magically had the $10 bands to purchase! Not a huge selection but I was able to get white and a few navy blue for my boys, they had a purple and rasberry color also. Not sure if they still have them listed but if you want $10 bands i'd runnnn to your dis account.

I think a band for the kids is a great idea! my kids will love them, i was just against having to spend $25 for them on the top of all of the other costs a disney trip includes.

If you are worried about kids losing it, you can use a hair tie or small rubberband to secure. You can also buy sliders, but I always like the cheap route.

I prefer Magic Band 2......I don't like the new ones.
But......I do like using the bands for tapping and we go to DLR often, so we might have to spend more to get one to use there

We wanted MB 2 for our recent trip. There weren't any we liked for resort-guest pre-order so I ended up getting an Orange Bird F&GF band through ShopDisney. DH and I looked in several hotel gift shops for one for him and they all pretty much had plain black and one of the Magic Kingdom land options (can't remember which one). He ended up making a custom band through the tech store in the Co-op at Disney springs. We didn't want + because we figured it would be another thing to have to keep charged up.

We are using our bands from 3 years ago. I refused to pay over 100.00 for family for something we can't even wear unless we are on vacation. Disney gets enough of my money

Thank you so much!!! We just got back a few weeks ago and our Magic Band 2s have just now started to stop pulling ride photos. I thought I wouldn’t care when that inevitably happened because we have them all from past trips but then there was Tron and Guardians and my youngest first time on Everest and the scared face we made on Haunted Mansion and I found myself sending multiple missing picture requests to Photopass. I knew we were going to need to get new ones for our next trip but I really didn’t want to have to move to MagicBand+ with the price jump and the charging. So excited to see the selection of MagicBand 2 on MDE! Most seem to still be there tonight (Tuesday).

I've looked on the Disney World website and these MB2 are not showing in my MDE account. My guess is we are staying off-site and because we don't have a Disney hotel reservation the option to purchase these for off-site guests is not available. Sigh.

You are correct. The discounted bands are available to guests who have booked a resort and ticket package with Disney.

A MB is nice to have but not necessary. If you prefer not to purchase MBs you will be issued a card the first time you enter a park and use that for access to LL lines and the parks. We were at Disneyland last summer and had cards snd they were very easy to use.

Our family won’t be purchasing MB+ until they come out with a version that links more easily and has better battery life. We will be using our old bands until then.

In 2022 when we went between all of us we were using 2020 and 2021 bands and already none of them were pulling ride photos anymore.

I'm booked at the Dolphin, purchased tickets separately and the bands didn't show as an option for me in MDE, just takes me to shopDisney. I'm assuming the Swan/Dolphin are excluded.

Only reservations at Disney owned & operated resorts at WDW are eligible for pre-arrival priced MagicBands. New & Renewal AP purchases are also eligible for pre-arrival pricing.

The Dolphin is part of Marriott's Sheraton brand. The Swan is part of Marriott's Westin brand. The Swan Reserve is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection Hotels line.

I've read this entire thread but just to be clear- if our new MagicBand+ are out of charge at the end of the day they will still be able to open our room doors, is that right?

My understanding is that if your MB is 100% out of charge then no, it would not open your room door. You would need to use the MDE app on your phone to open your room door.
