No more magic kingdom view at BLT?

Yes there is - but the primary difference at VGC is that the theme park in question (California Adventure) is literally next door (since the hotel & villas are technically considered to be inside of the park with its' own private entrance gate), and the balconies truly overlooking the park's environs instead of hundreds of yards away. 73% of the rooms are classified as "theme park view" - but up to half of that "view" is at a lower level or to the side viewing the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail vs. the more premium view of the Paradise Pier area and the upcoming World of Color show on the lagoon. But they still get by with classifying those lower level floors as "theme park view" because they can technically see the theme park from the room vs. the pools which is the more standard view. To be really specific at VGC, a request would need to be "upper floor theme park view" - otherwise you might be viewing the theme park's wall and perimeter building rooflines (which are technically still viewing the theme park) - just as some of the side rooms at BLT are technically able to see part of the Magic Kingdom, even if not that premium view so often shown in the sales literature.

I thought VGC only had 1 points category, not a separate one for theme park view.

It's off in the distance, but even # BLT rooms facing the Contemporary pool area have a view of Epcot, HS, and AK.

I sure hope they aren't going to raise the points and call these theme park view rooms though.

I doubt that, they would have to revamp the entire points chart to balance it out. I think it's just standardizing the wording.

I wonder if that means that the category will be expanded to include other villas since now some of the LV villas also have a glimpse of Epcot, DHS and AK. Some even have a slight view towards Sea World and Universal. Maybe this will expand the "Theme Park View" booking category? :)

I would not be surprised that those LV rooms that some have talked about with a glimpse of the Magic Kingdom will now be put in the theme park view category.

I agree maybe the hi floor corner rooms that are currently lake view will be changed to theme park
I would hope they reconsider the low floor rooms

Correct. But they sell the cash rooms by view category - Park, DTD, and Standard. I'm assuming park view at VGC is by request, for now.

That is my thinking, to keep the points balanced, they can rename some of those rooms, theme park views and remove some of the MK views rooms with the horrible parking lot views and put them in the LV category.

Believe me there is always a reason behind their madness.

Wow! We are so quick to jump to conclusions, here, LOL.

It's known that Disney is upgrading the reservation systems and making the DVC one more compatible with the one used by DRC. For example, remember the upcoming Dining Plan change to ore-pay announcement?

I agree with those who say it is just Disney IT standardizing things, not a harbinger of bad things to come! :teeth:

Some AKV villa's have a SUPER TARGET view!!!

Just stayed at BLT with a view of the pool. I wouldn't have paid up for a Magic Kingdom view regardless.

MK is a theme park, isn't it? lol Or is that what I get into trouble for when I call it that since it isn't. Or maybe that's amusement park. Oh, I get so confused!!! :rotfl:

The name changed happened with all the other name changes and I don't think it has a single thing to do with the view assignements.

I thought VGC only had 1 points category, not a separate one for theme park view.

Yes, only one point category at GCV so it's just the luck of the draw if you'll see the park or the pool or the trees.

We had a view of Spaceship Earth from our Bay Lake view!
We also had a view of Epcot from our Bay Lake View in the Contemporary, so it's no different then the one at Bay Lake Tower and I doubt they are rushing to change them to become more Theme Park Views, lol.

When we were there in November we had a lake view. We could see EPCOT and DHS from our room. If this is true, I wonder if this view will also be considered a theme park view, since we could see the EPCOT fireworks from our room.

I sure would hope so - considering I got stuck with one of those lower floor rooms at a premium it killed BLT for me. I would choose ANY resort over a MK View room at BLT after that experience. And I have been over the dumpsters at VWL!

After seeing the MK through the huge windows by the elevators at BLT, I actually preferred my Bay Lake view, as, for the most part, along with the MK, you are also looking at the parking lot of the resort, etc. Unless you are on a really high floor, I don't think it would be worth the extra points.

Speaking of views and extra points, we also stayed in a boardwalk view at the BWV a few years ago. I was so disappointed, as we were on the first floor, at the very end of the villas next to Jelly Rolls, and I felt like we were on display to all walking on the boardwalk whenever we sat on our patio. It was like we were sitting on the boardwalk. Forget early morning coffee in your jammies on your patio, unless you're comfortable being in total view of the public like that. That experience turned me off to spending extra points for views.

I wouldn't know. I am more likely to get "dumpster view" given the way I like to stretch my points.

:lmao:

I think it's a sign that they will be changing the name of the Magic Kingdom.;)

:laughing::scared1:

If they do change the booking category, making some Lake views, theme park views, and increase points, they will have to shave some off somewhere else, right? (Insert smiley greedily rubbing hands together to try and get a deal):goodvibes
