NO more DU gift??q

I rebooked for Dec 04 while on an Oct 02 cruise and then transferred to DU, so I didn't get a DU "group" rate and DID get the very nice memory box gift from DU in December. My parents and friends who travelled with us in Dec 04 both made their ressies direct with DU for that Dec 04 cruise and both also received the memory boxes in their staterooms.

Maybe someone from DU will post here and tell us what the criteria for getting the stateroom gift is???

DU is still giving out the gifts. I just got back from the 4/23 Magic and I got the Bon Voyage Memory box. This was my first booking with them and 2 of my friends also booked with them. Dreams is great!

I booked two cabins and future in-laws and parents each booked a cabin for our West Coast Cruise in a few weeks. Went directly through DU this time although I booked directly with DCL the first two cruise I took. Enjoyed the discount for the cabin and don't expect anything else. However, my TA and I exchanged emails recently about the fact that the cruise was a graduation present for 3-teenagers and a pre-wedding cruise (I am getting married on July 4th) for my fiancee and I.

It would be fun to have something unexpected especially since we won't have Shirley on the West Coast.

I wish I didnt open this thread... lol

We are booeked with DU for 2 cruises.... a 3 day in Sept 05 and a double dip 7 day cruise in August 06.

Didnt know there was a chance of getting a little something, and now if we dont, I will be bummed... BUT I am tickled with the rebate.... so I guess we will just buy our own goodies, if nothing is waiting for us.

All agencies can not have group or blocked space per say on all sailings of all cruise lines, they would have to have funds like Bill Gates :)

So SOMETIMES, they will have group or what is called blocked space on a sailing that they are able to offer additional incentives (being a lower rate, or
a memory box etc etc etc). It is depending on the specific sailing and what the cruise line is offering the agencies for that specific sail date.

Sometimes the cruise line if they are selling well with agencies and to the public they do not offer anything to anyone. Supply and Demand :)

Hopefully you get a great rate and if the other applies then it is just icing on the Disney Cake......the most important is having a great sailing (WEATHER)
and the Disney experience :)

We used All Seasons Travel for our Feb 05 trip on the Wonder. We received the memory box etc. in our room. I wasn't expecting it and was very surprised to see it in our cabin. We booked the May 28th trip through DU. It would be nice if my parents who are also traveling with us get a thank you gift. I like the discount we got on our booking.

Hi Folks

As many of you have surmised, the stateroom gift is related to whether or not your booking was made in pre-arranged group space with Disney Cruise Line or not.

Basically, any reservation booked within a pre-arranged group (as defined by Disney Cruise Line) on a sailing where the staterooms do not fall below 8 total is eligible for the gift. With Dreams Unlimited you can tell if you are booked within group space by your DCL confirmation number – if it contains ‘GRP#’ or ‘Group Number’ you are booked within a group.

Not every sailing is eligible for group space. Disney Cruise Line sets the sailing and the number of staterooms available in advance.

Even though you may be booked on a sailing where DU is holding group space, your stateroom may not be eligible for the gift. Certain stateroom categories (1, 2, 3 & 12) cannot be booked within group space and reservations booked after the group has filled up, and those where staterooms are no longer available, are not eligible. So, you may be on a sailing where others may get a gift and you do not. It all depends on Disney Cruise Line rules and policies that dictate their group space procedures.

In the past Dreams Unlimited indicated in the client services area of their site for each cruise client whether or not they were eligible for an in-room gift, as well as if they might get one when a certain number of staterooms book. Unfortunately, Disney Cruise Line has changed the rules on eligibility for these gifts so often in the past that the decision was made to remove this notation to help avoid disappointment with clients who expected the gift and did not get one.

As a sense of fairness, Dreams Unlimited Travel did pay for the stateroom gift for any client who would have seen this message but would not have been eligible due to Disney Cruise Line policy changes.

For all future sailings only reservations booked within the group space are eligible.

Of course, Dreams Unlimited Travel may add a stateroom gift to any reservation that does not fall in group space for any reason.

I hope this helps to clarify things a little.

If you were on a cruise booked with Dreams Unlimited Travel and feel you should have received a stateroom gift and did not please feel free to email me directly at john@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com and I will be happy to look into it further for you.

Thanks
John

Does everyone who books with all seasons get the gift? I am thinking of rebooking and want to weigh the options before rebooking with DU again....

i have not made my ressie through DU but i have seen many advertisements that they have been giving stateroom credit of up to $200/room...did any of you that are upset get this credit? If so, then it makes sense that you did not get a gift in your room. In addition, when you were searching for rates, if DU would have cost $50 more inc gift than another quote you recd from another travel agent would you have booked with DU or gotten the cheaper rate? I know these agents try their best to give the best rates and freebies but we, as consumers, need to also realize that this is their business! Honestly, how many of us would continually spend so much $$$ instead of reinvesting it in the business or using it to pay bills. In other words, when was the last time you stood in front of the place you worked and handed out $50 to each customer....

I'm just wondering why people expect a GIFT. Someone actually said that she is considering booking if she gets a gift. !! Gifts shouldn't be expected.

I have to agree- We were thrilled to receive an unexpected gift on our first cruise.

I think the person who was interested in the gift, was weighting all the options before booking... I got the impression if all things were equal and one TA offers a gift, then they would book with them... NOT the mear fact they got a gift... just that a gift would tip the scales if all things were equal.

I booked with DU and I am happy with the rebate, if I was also randomly selected for a gift (since I dont fall under the group gift as a DU person stated earlier in this thread) I would be tickled pink (or would that be tickled lime green)

But the next time I go to book a cruise I will hunt around more for a better deal. I am happy with DU, but I also think I could of poked around somemore and gotten more ups and extras.

We've shopped around and have consistently found some of the best deals at Cruises Only - both Disney and other cruise lines. We've gotten small gifts such as certificates for free photos in the photo gallery, certificate for bottles of wine or spa treatments. I've always assumed that it was because we were repeat customers and that the agencies were given special perks or reduced rates/incentives to send to their clients.

I go for an agent to get the best prices balanced with customer service. The gifts are a nice perk, but not a deal maker for us.

I was pretty sure our reservation was under groups with DU. We have 6 cabins booked for April 2006 and I thought we were told we got such a great rate because we were within their group rate rooms.

Well, I just checked our reservation and we do have a GRP#. So here's to hoping we can an extra suprise when we board next year.

We booked in Nov. for April 29, 2006.

Hi Mketting

I suggest contacting the agent who provided you with your original quote to see if you are in a group or not. I suspect that you are but you may want to send an email just to make sure.

If you can't remember who that agent was who provided you with the quote you can write to dcl.reservations@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com and someone there will be happy to assist you.

Thanks
John

Thanks John I 'll ask. As an earlier poster said a gift is just a great bonus on top of the privaledge to get to go on such a special vacation.

I'll check with Sue Ellen she is our TA. Either way, we were given such a great rate with Dreams Unlimited that I feel I already got a special gift.
