No More Complimentary Bread?

I read an article a few minutes ago that said WDW is no longer offering complimentary bread at table service restaurants?! Seriously?

I looked for other sources and couldn’t find anything. Can anyone confirm this?

If this is true it has to be one of the more pathetic things Disney has done recently!

I read the same thing no confirmation but figure its only a couple days before others report on it too. Cheap move, but I guess I'm not overly shocked, just disappointed. Enjoy you're support of the closed parks, they've got to cut some where!

If true, this will soon backfire. Nothing keeps patrons from complaining or leaving like free .15 cent bread/butter while it takes staff over 15+ minutes to prepare your order. Without the cheap bread, soon those minutes ticking away are going to feel like an eternity. Tips are likely to decrease as a result (not that Disney cares about that but the bottom line anymore).

I can confirm Tony’s did NOT have bread on Sunday. I asked and they said it was discontinued a week ago. They would not bring me any (my kids were super hungry). I was bummed because I loved that bread ! I am eating at Mama Melrose on Friday... will report back!

Hmmm we just ate at Tony’s yesterday and I have never been but they didn’t have bread which I thought was strange. Garden Grill did have bread this week, maybe because it’s a price fixe?

We were in California Grill for drinks & appetizers on Saturday (in the lounge) we were served bread & olive oil.

I remember years ago Disney did not offer bread. I think it is within the last 5 or 6 years that they do?

We were in Tony’s in early feb and were served bread. I ended up drinking my first glass of wine eating it. Had to order a second to go with my meal. I bet I’m not the only one who drinks faster with something to eat. For lack of a cheap basket of bread they will loose sales of overpriced wine.

I doubt this applies to signature restaurants.

I've been noticing for about a year that many WDW restaurants that used to include bread now charge extra for it.

So far I’ve read BOG, Tony’s, and Coral Reef. Someone also mentioned that Via Napoli recently offered them an upgraded bread service. Perhaps they are moving comp bread service at the 1 TS restaurants (that offered it) toward an upcharge?

Just hope they leave signatures alone. Sheesh

I *might* have visited Red Lobster last week just to get a fix of cheddar bay biscuits. :)

One of the reasons we dine there every now and then. As many times as we have made the copy cat version, they just don’t turn out like RL
