Hello,

I haven't had a chance to post in a while (this may have been covered already), but I was curious to know if anyone knows what happened to the Catholic Mass that was always on site. They do not have it any more. I think the parish is Mary, Queen of The Universe that would come over and do it. Does anyone know why and if it will be coming back soon?

Thanks

Hi JAM2000.

We had a spirited discussions about this topic about a month ago. Apparently, Disney does not plan to bring this back. I wrote an e-mail expressing my disappointment and here is the reply I received:

As we have expanded the number of hotel rooms on our property, we no longer have the opportunity to provide a single location large enough to accommodate all of the Guests who desire to worship. In the same period of time, the Central Florida community has expanded around our property, providing numerous services that previously had not been available in close proximity to our Guests. The Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine is an excellent example, as this beautiful facility is actually closer than the Luau Cove to the majority of our on-property Resorts. We certainly understand your disappointment, and regret any inconvenience this change may cause you.

I'm still disappointed but what can you do except let them know how you feel?

Thanks for the info!

I am disappointed too. To me the fact that there are more hotel rooms actually increases the need for this. Honestly, without getting all emotional and political, I think that Disney probably panicked with all the controversy going on with the church and the fact that the resort is a "family" vacation spot. That is just my opinion, now that I think about it and the timing that they decided to do this.

Anyway, we will have to wait and see if it comes back! I we can only hope, since it was so convenient.

When you check in you can make a reservation for the Mears shuttle to pick up and transport you to the Shrine. It is costly,$10.00 round trip per person. I would look into a taxi it would probably be less expensive for a family of four.
