No matter what your budget is...what is the one thing you WON'T cut corners on

I stay where I want (hope for discount) and make sure budget includes a few special meals. ..and dont blink at paying extra for special experiences like Africa Trek, dining packages that provide good seating or entry advantages..Candleligjt Processional, Africa Trek, Fantasmic, After hours parties, etc.

Staying DVC.
I would miss the kitchenette.

(One reason why I don’t care to stay at new GF studios).

Transportation from airport to hotel. I won't book a shuttle that stops at other hotels. I did it once years ago and swore never again. I get motion sick. By the time I get to Orlando, it's already been many hours of travel for me. I don't need an extended bus trip on top of that. I book a towncar. (I happily eat breakfast in the room, and I'm fine with quick service restaurants as opposed to table service restaurants, so I probably make up the $$$ difference there.)
Where do you book this?

At Disney or on vacation: food. I’m not cooking on holiday lol. If I want a snack, I don’t want the granola bar I can buy at home, I want a churro!
in real life: high quality food, I will pay more for humane organic meat, and love gourmet products, for example, we don’t buy grocery store baked goods but support good bakeries instead, etc.

For WDW: staying on-site, preferably DVC 1-bdrm (if the only choice was off-site, we would book a vacation to a different state or country).
At home: we've tried so many disappointing products over the years that we mostly only buy what we've found to be better quality. We do buy generic products that have identical ingredients tho.

I will cut more than the average guest. Book Low to medium hotel . Bring another small refrigerator and go to store before getting their. Eat frozen dinners, cereal, sandwiches etc. Bring own beverages. No parks. Swim, relax and visit Disney springs for souvenirs. Possible to have a hot meal out sometimes. You see I drive to Disney World. No worries of plane 0cancellation or how to get from airport to hotel. It is possible to visit Disney World on next to nothing. Hotel reservations go to AAA. Also book travel insurance. Oh if a extra refrigerator is against policy a cooler or two will do. See you at the Mouse House.

SAME. I'm heading for a solo trip this month thank goodness after a family spring break trip that was rebooked three times due to COVID. We stayed DVC and my sister asked us for a grocery list, at which I was completely baffled. Granted, we had a few non-park days, and there was a kitchen, but I'm a "grab coffee and pastry on the way" type of breakfast person. Waking up early to make eggs before rope dropping, no thank you.

I'm willing to skimp on almost anything in order to go on vacation, but for DisneyWorld I can't imagine staying offsite. I'd rather wait until I can afford a moderate than stay at a budget or offsite. For DCL I'm happy to have an inside room, and only do one excursion during the trip so that I can cruise every 18 months. But I will not cook or do laundry on vacation. The only laundry I did on our 2 week PC cruise was underthings in the bathtub!

I won't cut my cleaning girl. I rather not eat then give her up. I actually just gave her a raise.

I find this thread so interesting, with most people listing "staying onsite." For me, that is the first think I am willing to (and usually do) cut. We've stayed onsite a few times, and had AKL booked for summer 2020 (at $300/night!) that we cancelled. I'd rather stay more days and travel more frequently. If I get a fantastic deal, I'm happy to stay onsite. We stayed last December at Hard Rock for $275/night w/unlimited express pass. But when there is no discount and especially with prices where they are now, I'm just not willing to do it.

Spend the extra to stay on property. With the transportation options and access to dining locations, this might off set some of the costs staying off property, and less travel times to the parks and where you want to be.
