No longer going in June.

My DD goes to school in one system, and I teach in a system two counties away. Last year, her system cut out their fall break altogether. They decided that, since they were down to two days, they would just relocate those two days to Thanksgiving Week and be out a whole week then. This year, my school system moved back our start date a week, so to compensate (so we can still get out by Memorial Day), bye bye Fall Break (and any chance of another MNSSP). :(

Our Spring Breaks are also in different months, so there are no spiffy Spring Break vacations, either. Oh, the joys of different schedules.

Speaking of schedules, Mom (aka eeyore344) came in last night and brought up the touchy subject of inventory. Two years ago when we planned our first WDW bday trip, the retail store she works for did inventory in July. She couldn't get the week of the trip off (which is likely just as well since I paid for all of it except the $200 deposit...slip of the mouse...) She could only go the second half of the trip. So, now she thinks inventory may be in July, but we're not sure -- and won't know until December! *sigh*

Well, we're still shooting for June...just maybe not the same week in June...

I know how schedules can be.. My son will start in the same school system as we teach in so that is not the problem, but there are never any breaks that we can take that are usually long enough to go any other time of the year except summer. My husband also coaches a winter sport so we can never do trips over Thanksgiving or Winter. I know the coaching money is nice to have, but I really don't like it some times. We have off for long weekend in Sept and it just would work out to take a mini trip but I am still up in the air of whether I want to spend more money or not. I have one week to think about it and after one week if I haven't made up my mind, my husband said we will just skip Sept. I am ok with that.

I will not skip my June trip next year though. No way! :)

I'm here!! I am so ready to go back. Even tho it was hot, rather be at Disney than at work.
I work retail so we are planning on 6/23-6/29. But being I work retail it will depend on when we inventory. So lets all pray for an early June or late May inventory!!
It is usually Me, DD, and DGD that go, but my DIL has never been so hoping to surprise her with this trip. Her birthday is also in June so we will have 3 June birthdays to celebrate. My DS like my DH doesn't really care for Disney so us girls will leave them at home and we will party with Mickey and friends!

I don't know how I missed your reply. That sounds like a lot of fun and I can't wait to plan with the Junies again. Keep us posted on dates and such and I hope inventory works out for you.

I booked the second part of my stay in a 2br value in AKV Jambo House. Had to go on wait list for the 1st night. If it doesn't't come through by my 7mos window, I may try to switch over to a THV or BLT. It's a Friday night and It's just one night so I'm hopeful that waitlisting it at 11mos. will work out. If it doesn't, the kids really love BLT and are really excited about the THV so hopefully one of those options will work out at the 7 mos. window.

Sounds great. I hope you get exactly what you want at your 7 month window. Keep us posted.

Unfortunately, my sister and I had to cancel a trip planned for Labor Day at Pop Century but have decided to move our planned October 2012 trip up to June 2012, just in case her kids school system eliminates fall break.

We want to book an AKV 1BR Kidani but when I cancelled our reservation today the CM couldn't tell me when I could book AKV, she said to just call back. I looked online and it gave availability of June 1-9 but nothing after that. Do I just have to wait another week? How soon do villas book up?

So, please add me for June 8-16, 2012 hopefully at AKV. It will be my sis, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. We also live in south Alabama and our philosophy is we can sweat at home or sweat at Disney!

Welcome! Typically if you are not DVC, they do not open the villas up to the general public yet. I know some don't open up until about 7 months before. Sometimes they open sooner. It just depends. There should be plenty of availability though. We have never had a problem getting a villa.

Hi anjalee! I just got done reading through your June2011 thread. You are the princess of June in my world.:wizard: I will definitely post here about the dream after that trip. We are actually using dvc points for that cruise. DH was so indecisive about wdw this year after a crazy extended family trip that I canceled our ressie that was booked with borrowed points. I considered renting them but knew I needed to go back to Disney. Talked to dh about a cruise instead, he said yes. We booked the cruise hooray plus 4 nights at Kidani and no extended family to frustrate dh!!!

We love akv. Kidani is gorgeous and their rooms are amazing. Sanaa is wonderful. We really love the private feel of Kidani and how unusual it is. As far as being dvc members is concerned, I'd say look into it if you go once a year or more, stay deluxe and like the dvc resorts. We have been members since our 1st trip and have always been happy with our decision. Pm me for a referral if you'd like.

Thanks. I am glad that you enjoyed our thread. It was so much fun and I met some great people on the thread. It's nice to keep it going and with some new additions. ;) We love Kidani. I would love to buy into DVC. My husband and I are definitely thinking more about it. Our neighbor used to work in Disney and is DVC so we have been getting lots of tips and pointers from him. I just want to make sure that it makes sense to my family before we take the plunge.

We just got back from WDW last night. I was very ready to come home (two weeks but some of it without DH was a little too much; if he had been there with me it would have been awesome!).

We will be on the Dream starting June 29th of next year. As of right now, DH is saying we cannot do a pre-cruise stay because of the cost of vacation days so I may just be a lurker over here this time.

As soon as DH finds his camera (he used it on the first part of the trip), I'll be picking pictures for the Photo Safari.

Disney Dream planning is still Disney planning in my book, so no need to lurk. Plan away. Counting down is still counting down. Our 10 year anniversary is next year so we are debating a cruise for our anniversary. We just have to do it over the summer because our anniversary is in November and except for Thanksgiving, there are really no days off in November for teachers to get away. We were thinking of cruising in June too, but I still want Disney too andi know we can't do both. We will see. Have a little while to decide though...just not too long.

Well glitch in all girls trip, DS has decided he wants to go now, so will have 1 more in crew. So now we will be able to celebrate 3 birthdays and my DS and DIL's anniversary. 3 years for them.
We will be partying all around- 3 birthdays, an anniversary and a 1st time visit. pixiedust: May we have pixie dust sprinkled all around us!!pixiedust:

Anjalee,
We did the four day this past March and it was awesome. We're doing the five day next summer for an extra day at Castaway Cay. We loved being there. We didn't go into Nausau because we wanted an opportunity to explore a fairly empty ship. I can highly recommend going on a cruise. We would have done a 7 day on the Fantasy but the dates just didn't work out for our schedule.

We purchased DD and DDBF airplane tickets using points! For them leaving May 23rd comming back June 2nd. The schedule is not out for our return trip yet.We are comming back June 9th. So it is looking 2 days in parks before our cruise. Then 7 park days after the cruise. We made our reservations for BLT June 2-9. I love being a DVC member:lovestruc. It is how we get to go twice per year

We are looking into the 4- day cruise this time for starters. We have both never done a cruise before so we thought, why not start with something we both love and go for a Disney cruise. I might have to ask you some questions to help with planning since you have some experience it the cruise department.

I told everyone I was going to take a break from WDW next year....yea right..lol
here I am planning away again:rotfl2:
DS school lets out a week later, so planning second weekend of June. Hopefully SWW will be going on then.princess:

LOL. I know what you mean. That is why I just never tell people we will take a break. I just don't tell them anything. That way they can't say anything to me about our trips. Welcome back to the group! :goodvibes

That's great that you have a neighbor that's dvc. You will be an educated consumer if you decide to purchase. I'm sure you know to buy where you want to stay just in case the 7mos. window doesn't work out. Since you love AKV, I think you may want to learn all about it. It has more room types than any other resorts including concierge rooms and value rooms which are the lowest point cost for any dvc rooms. AKV also is one of 2 resorts where the 1 br's sleep 5 and have 2 bathrooms. 2 br's sleep 9 and have 3 bathrooms. I love both Kidani and Jambo house and think they have some of the best dining on property. I also think AKV has the most brilliantly executed theme of any of the DVC resorts. Both Jambo and Kidani are such gorgeous resorts and are destinations in their own rights.

Yeah, I definitely think that AKV would be the best choice for us. My husband doesn't like to stay anywhere else as it is. He absolutely loves Kidani and all it has to offer. The kids love the pool area and the animals of course. We like it's quiet feel. Even in the summer, it seems so quiet and relaxing. Thanks for the extra information. I will keep everything in mind. :)

We had never gone on a cruise either so we wanted to take a short one to see how we liked it. I'm glad we did the four as opposed to the three because we wanted to experience a day at see to make sure we didn't have any adverse reaction to the motion of the ship. I will say that it's a very different kind of planning because A) your options are limited when it comes to excursions (like in Nausau, you could probably only do one excursion but at Castaway Cay you could probably squeeze in two if you didn't want to spend the day on the beach) and B) there is some planning you can't do until you're on the ship (like you won't know the character M&G schedule or the movie schedule until you're on board). We had a great time and it was a little more relaxing than a park vacation (so many more options for dining, etc). After next year, we're going to consider either taking an Alaskan cruise with Disney or maybe the Mediterranean with Disney. It will depend.
