No longer going in June.

Hi Everyone! I have updated what I have been given so far on the first page of the thread. I know some people still have to wait until they officially book so let me know when you firm up your plans or if things change. :thumbsup2

Hi,

I am returning June 18th -June 24th 2012 at the Royal Theme Room at POR. We went in June a few years ago, then switched to Sept. for a few years, now we are back to June. :cool1:

Here's hoping for discounts for us.pixiedust:

I updated the information on page 1 with your dates.

We usually drive every year and it isn't bad, but we are flying for the first time with the kids in September. I got good prices for airfare for all four of us and with a shorter trip, we thought it was worth it. We will see how it goes. We will probably go back to driving next June just because we really like having our car on property. It saves so much time during our trip.

We have tentative dates of June 23rd - 30th. We're pretty certain we'll be staying in a Royal Room at POR, but depending on what deals are out, would love to get into a Poly or Contemporary room. I guess we have 10 months, so we shall see.

On a related note, I'm going through some serious Disney withdrawal after this last trip. Concentration on work has gone by the wayside, and all I find myself doing in my free time is looking at Disney Pins online (nerd alert!) and trying to figure out how to take advantage of any of the deals being offered in Oct/Nov.....but that's probably not going to happen.

Cheers,
Indy

I want it to be June too and we are even going again in September for 5 days. We are surprising the kids with MNSSHP. They have no idea about the trip. After that, I can really concentrate on June.

Aww I bet they will be so excited!!!

My sister and I took her son last year to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party as a surprise and it was amazing. Only for the day but so much fun. The last holiday we have to hit for being at Disney is now Halloween but it is so hard being in school, working and then the nephew being in school! One day!!

Yea for surprise MNSSHP for kids!:yay:
We have only stayed in the cabins one time, but didn't really like the location. It's close to the MK, but having to take the internal bus to either the front or back of Ft. Wilderness was such a hassle especially with our little ones. Anyway, the cabins were not bad, but with five people and only one bathroom it might be nice to have two bathrooms instead. Also, there is a set of bunk beds and a double bed (queen?) not sure which in the bedroom and then there is a Murphy bed in the living room. We found that it was just really hard to sleep on the Murphy bed. Not the most comfortable thing. It was nice to park out car right out front. After dealing with the buses for two days, we gave up and drove ourselves most places. One night we waited 45 minutes for a bus. The kitchen was nice to have in the cabin. We ate breakfast most mornings in the cabin. The dishwasher, microwave, and fridge were a plus, but if you are not going to eat in your cabin, then it might not matter. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for info on cabins. Just not sure about them. They do sound out of the way. If I was thrifty, kitchen would be nice for meals. But when I'm on vacation, I want to be on vacation which to me means no cooking, dishes or doing laundry. And with 4 adults I think 2 bathrooms would benefit more than a "kitchen"!:scared1:

Well add us to the list! June 3-9!!! And as of right now it looks like it's going to be POR. We haven't booked yet but are planning to in the coming weeks! :goodvibes

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing! We are currently planning our September trip for this year so I haven't been focusing on summer too much. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hello,

We're also going in June 2012. We didn't go in 2011 and in 2010 our trip was in November so I'm new to this thread. Ever since our first trip I have been trying to decide when we would go back. First trip I wanted to be short over dd's fall break, but fall break dates which are based on an annual teacher's conference that shifts each year are not released until August and it's not easy to plan a trip to Disney in that amount of time. Got the calender and dd had the entire week of Thanksgiving off from school. :cool1: :scared1:

Still, with the help of this board, we had a great time even though it was Thanksgiving week and crowd numbers were 9 and 10 all week. I'm sure they'll change, but right now they look pretty low for the week I'm planning on. Well perhaps not low to some, but in comparison to Thanksgiving week, it will probably feel light to us. :rotfl2:

This came about because our church and two others are grouping for a 7 day Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Carnival Liberty June 23-30. I love cruising and dd loved it too. Ds has never been on one though and I wasn't sure a 7 day was a good way to introduce it, especially when at not quite 2.5, he may or may not be toilet trained and there's no splash area. After a lot of back and forth, I decided it wasn't a good itinerary for my crew and once their Godparents said they weren't going, I was sure we weren't either. It carried a hefty price tag for something I wasn't sure both of my children would enjoy or something I'd have to get really creative for them to enjoy. At $4k you don't want to hear "I had fun." You want to hear "that was the best vacation ever!" and you want to hear it over and over again. Thought about going on the Dream instead, since I'd have plenty of time to pay for it, there'd be water for ds to play in and dd upon seeing the pictures said, "We have to go on that boat," but then I thought about it.

And why not? Let's get back to Disney World. The Dream will be there in 2013, but in 2013, dd turns 10 and ds turns 3 and we all know what that means. :rolleyes1 First time when people asked me why I was taking a baby to Disney World (ds was 10 months on our first trip) my reply was, "Well, you certainly can't beat the price." He really did enjoy himself. He loved the characters, the rides, looking around, everything. Well, everything except the pack-n-play I had brought to our room. He also loves table food which he introduced himself to by grabbing stuff of our plates everyday. :rotfl:

So, I decided we're heading back. I'm very excited and it's therapeutic to have that to think about right now. Dd said she wanted to go back but wanted to stay longer. I agreed and given we'll be going in June, we'll need a lot more downtime. I'll have to put in midday breaks for naps and pool time, but we'll have a lot more daylight to work with as well. I also want to split AK into two half days this time cuz I hear it's the hottest park. I want to allow more time for Epcot and MK.

What's a girl to do? We're going to need 9 days (8 nights). So, I've settled on June 22-30. If I can't get an early enough flight (I want 9am) I'll switch to the 21st. Last time our flight was at 1:40. It was either that or 7:40am and that was fine when I could carry or push dd through the airport. Getting her up at 4:30 would not be pretty I don't care where she's going. It took us until 6:45 to get to MK that first day though. I will admit seeing the castle for the first time decked out in Christmas lights was one of the highlights of our trip. But this time a 9am flight would be great. We would get to leave the house about the time we normally do and we'd get to Orlando around my son's nap time, chill for a bit around the resort or in the room if it's ready and hit MK around 4.

Last trip I kept as a surprise until the day before departure. It was great and the big reveal went really well. I've told her this time though. I know she's going to hear people talking about the cruise and I want her to know we're going somewhere. I won't be talking about it with her much for a while, but in December before I have to make ADRs, we'll talk about where we want to eat and a few months later we'll have some "do you want to that again?" and "We didn't get to do that last time, do you want to try it this time?" kind of talks. I can't do it too soon. I did get a big hug when I told her how long we'd be staying though.

I am holding back one thing for a surprise if I can. Last time we stayed at ASMo and we enjoyed it except I didn't sleep well. I had to share the bed with ds and I was so worried he'd fall off the bed, I was constantly waking up. I'm leaning very heavily one of the Deluxe resorts, particularly WL. The combination of the beauty, dining options, transportation options, kids program, electric water pageant, and access to FW have this one at the top of my list. It also reminds me a lot of Great Wolf Lodge. We did two trips there this summer. I have priced it with regular dining and base tickets. I can upgrade to hoppers if I want and still be within what I want to spend.

Happy planning everyone. I will update when I officially book our package.

Welcome to the group. I really like WL. I think it's a great choice. Your plans so far sound great. Your kids are lucky to have such a nice and caring mom!

Hi Anjalee
Hope all is well! Made our reservations today, so barring glitch in inventory, we have reserved June 23-29, 2012 at POR. Now the anticipation begins till
we can start making ADR'S!! My daughter-in-law is so excited, as are we!:thumbsup2 Let the planning begin!

We are booked to fly out on 27th May though we're staying through to 17th June so we're in both May and June countdowns :) This is my first Disney trip so I'm dead excited. We're staying in POR. Hoping the accommodation is nice.
