Wow- this has been an amazing week for reporting. M.Paul looked totally impressive, and has piqued my interest. CA Grill also looked amazing. DH is a huge fan of the spicy Kazan roll, and that was a great photo! The dragon roll was also beautiful. So excited to see Emme back again for another stint. It is fun that we have had repeat reporters on the thread. They feel like friends I haven't met yet.

I am hoping that MAYBE the food trucks will be at downtown Disney in a couple of weeks. We are having breakfast at Ohana, but then heading to downtown Disney and I would LOVE to try out the F&W truck since we won't make it into Epcot this fall. Disney announced the trucks, but not when they are starting!

"We both ordered the Mega Berry Smoothie."






"We started out with yummy bread with Hawaiian Sea Salt butter."






"For my entree I had the Beef Tenderloin while DH had the Pork Tenderloin.




Herb-Salt Seasoned Beef Tenderloin with Caramelized Field Mushrooms, Organic Green Beans, Parsnip-Potato Puree, and Sauce Bordelaise






Thompson Farms Pork Tenderloin with Soy-Pineapple-Honey Marinade, Pineapple Salsa, Boniato and Cauliflower Mash


"Both entrees were prepaid nicely, but the Pork Tenderloin was the winner. The pork had such a wonderful flavor and not to mention it was $10 cheaper than the beef."



"For dessert we both chose the Creamy Indulgent Trio (no pic). That was just OK, nothing special."

"Schnitzel (which was the table's favorite), warm German potato salad, pretzel bread, and beef roulade. This was DH's second or third plate. This was all very good."

"We needed a caffeine boost and snack so we stopped at Starbucks. We forgot to take pictures of our snack but it was standard Starbucks food. The salted caramel frappuccino was yummy."



"We made a stop in the festival center. They were passing out free chocolate and caramels. We thought the chocolate sculptures were amazing."

"We got the Mezzo Metro and planned on having some for leftovers for breakfast. The poor waiter was so confused when he wheeled this big 'ole pizza to a 2-top table. It's half pepperoni and half quattro formaggi."












"It was good but not blow your socks off delicious. There is a faint but definitely there taste of white wine in the sauce. We aren't big wine drinkers so we weren't a big fan. Glad we tried it, but not in a rush to go back."

Next in this morning were some updates from a new reporter, Kathy (kanadar), starting with this travel update.


She said, "This morning we got up "bright" and early to head to Disney!!! By "bright" I mean it was 4:30 am in IL! Not so fun but at least the reward was Disney! We had a layover at O'hare so we stopped at Macaroni Grill (sorry no sign pictures due to lack of sleep). I had the eggs and bacon."




"It was alright, not something I think I would get again. Some bites of egg had a lot of flavor while other bites had an odd flavor. But this got the job done of getting us food!"

Kathy said, "Mary arrived early and proceeded to check out some of the sights and eats at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival."






"First up was the Hawaii booth where she sampled the pork slider."



"She thought the pork had a nice flavor complemented well by the pineapple and zesty sauce. The Hawaiian roll gave it that extra pizzazz."









"Her second stop was Scotland where she tried the Veggie Haggis and the Banoffee tart."








"She enjoyed the haggis and thought it had an interesting texture, in a good way. You could definitely discern the various veggies, but she didn't end up finishing the dish. The accompaniments were only okay, but did complement the haggis well."


"The Banoffee tart was the highlight of Scotland. The banana gave the dish a nice flavor profile without overpowering it, which can easily happen with banana. It was a real winner."




"The last F&W stop was Terra where she sampled the Chili Colorado and Watermelon Juice."








"The Chili had a great flavor and you certainly wouldn't know it wasn't made with beef. It was a sort of deconstructed chili with a nice kick, but not overpowering. The chips were a bit over salted, but paired nicely with the chili."





"The Watermelon juice was being fresh pressed as it was ordered and was served cold. It tasted just like pureed watermelons, which was a plus for her, but could turn others off. It was also pulpy, but nice and refreshing."

Wow! There have been some amazing reporting going on lately! I've got a F&W question. I know tons of people like the griddled Greek cheese. I'm wondering what the consistency of it is like. Kathy said, "While waiting for the rest of us to get into Orlando, Mary also took the opportunity to attend a beverage seminar at the Festival Center. This wine seminar featured speaker Jimmy Cefalo of MARTINI Sparkling Wines. She thought the seminar was quite informative about both the history of Martini & Rossi, but also about sparkling Italian wines in general."






"They got to try 3 different sparkling wines."






"First up was the Martini Prosecco, an extra dry wine with notes of apple and pear. This was her least favorite as she isn't a big dry wine fan."

"Second was the Martini Rose, a semi-sweet wine with notes of berries and flowers. It is a light pink and color and was surprisingly tasty."

"The third wine was the Martini Asti, probably the most well-known of the wines featured. It is a sweet sparkling wine with notes of melon and peach used mostly as a dessert or wedding wine. Fun fact: a glass of Asti is only 90 calories!"

"This was a fun way to spend an hour, and as an annual passholder, cost $12. I think it was worth the cost."

Once Kathy (kanadar) and the rest of their group arrived on Tuesday, they had their first Disney meal together at Epcot's...





"We started with a pitcher of red Sangria and it was a tasty and refreshing choice."





"We also got some Arancini to share. The came with some fresh marinara sauce to dip and the arancini had a nice flavor."








"For our entrees Bob and Mary went with the Funghi Pizza, but added spicy Italian Sausage."



"The pizza came out very quickly. I wouldn't say service was rushed, but this is definitely not a place you linger over a glass of wine and pizza. They thought the pizza was tasty, though it could have used a bit more sauce and a few more spices to liven it up."



"Jeff and I both went with the Candele pasta, a candlestick noodle with meatballs and cheese."




"It was very good; it doesn't seem like a large portion, but this is a heavier meal and filled us up. The meatballs and cheese had a great flavor. We decided against dessert, because we had something else in mind."

Then Kathy (kanadar) said, "After taking in Illuminations we walked over to the Boardwalk Bakery for a late night snack/dessert."





"Mary chose the lemon blueberry cupcake...




"She is a big fan of anything blueberry and/or lemon and thought this was delightful. The frosting and cake were light with a distinct, but not overpowering lemon flavor and they did not skimp on the blueberries. The middle of the cupcake was a blueberry compote that stayed together better than expected."




"Our dad chose the salted caramel ganache...




"He thought it was very tasty and stayed together nicely. This was more of a milk chocolate than dark."



"I chose the Strawberry cupcake and thought it was great."





"The frosting was more of a whipped topping with strawberry swirl and the cake was general vanilla. It was filled with strawberry cream and as a lover of strawberry I would recommend."

Morning Barb! I can't wait to be on our way!! It was a long night at work (the end of a 9 night stretch!) and I am ready to be at WDW! I won't even be on a plane for 5 more hours though I dunno about topping Jeanette's score.. although I'm 1/5 of the way there lol! I can't wait to be sending you reports of our yummy eats! Also can't wait to meet you in December!

"Rob and I were actually able to decide on two sandwiches we both wanted so we could split both of them."




Caribbean Jerk Chicken with Grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, banana peppers & spicy jerk sauce


"This was really good! I picked off some of the banana peppers but I loved the red peppers."





Chipotle Chicken Avocado with Grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar, avocado, lettuce & chipotle sauce

"This one was better. Loved the sauce on this one."


"The sandwiches would have been even better warm but it took us 2 hours to get from the Marketplace back to our room at OKW. YIKES!"
