We just finished dinner and THANK GOSH we decided to walk here. After dinner we've decided to waddle back to the beach club from Hollywood Studios! Update to be sent soon!

Let's get started on today's updates now, beginning with our First Update of the Day sent this morning by Jeri (jerseytinkerbell).


She said, "We had no plans for dinner last night and after much searching we finally ended up at...






"Inside the small restaurant...





"The menu...













"We were seated at the counter which was pretty cool because we could watch them cooking the burgers and making the ice cream for people on the take-out side. Those girls were busy the whole time and working really hard!"



"Rob ordered the Pot Roast Sandwich...




"He loved this and wants to go back to it again next week. In fact, he is currently singing a made up song about wanting a pot roast sandwich.


"I had the bacon cheeseburger with cheddar instead of blue cheese."



"This was really good and the fries were perfectly cooked!"


"This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it! We were too full for ice cream last night, but we will definitely return here later in the trip to try it because everything looked incredible."​

Next in this morning was this interesting update from Niki Andiokno.










She said, "This is from the B&B French wine club seminar. Unfortunately, this was a waste of $12. The wine tasted really bad. The wine club was super expensive to join. The presenter seemed arrogant. I understand it's good to aerate your wine. But he made a face and slurp like Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs every time he took a sip. Very creepy." ​

Last night, she and her DH attended the F & W Festival Signature dinner at...

Wolfgang Puck Dining Room





She said, "We started in the small glass room to the right of the restaurant where we tried Wolfgang Pucks own wine, they had cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay and we were served small crabcakes that were a little spicy and very good!"








"Next we were lead upstairs for the dinner."






"Here is the place setting...

"Amuse bouche: tuna tartare, sesame miso, American caviar"






"First course: Green apple vichyssoise with curry crème fraiche"

"This was a cold soup, very thick and creamy."





"Second course : autumn salad with fall vegetables purees"

"The dressing tasted tahini/ sesame...really good."






"Third: seared ocean scallops"

"Our favorite dish, the scallops were perfectly cooked and the sweet potato mash was well seasoned / spiced."






"Fourth: halibut"

"Very disappointing, it was overcooked/ dry, no one at our table liked it."






"Dessert: molten lava cake"

"This was very good and well executed, but they could have chosen a less common dessert."


"Except for the halibut it was a solid meal. Sadly though we were served all white wines and DH prefers reds but their pairings were really great."​

Kayla said, "This is a tradition for us to do on our first full park day. The food and service were wonderful and character interaction was great."





















"Here's a bonus photo of my mom getting a birthday cupcake. The server even sang happy birthday, she was so embarrassed, it was awesome."

She said, "Four hours until we hit the road. The chef at my school made grilled cheese sandwiches & tomato soup for lunch for the kids and I had to have some."

Yesterday she headed to the Grand Floridian to have Afternoon Tea at...










She said, "Mike had the Prince Edward's Tea...



Prince Edward's Tea - A delicious array of duck and cherry terrine, chicken and pork roulade, country pate en croute, and English Blue Stilton, the "King" of English cheeses. Served with marinated fresh berries, and Cumberland sauce


"It was very substantial. There was a pate, roulade, and terrine. It also had a good blue cheese and to die for cheddar. Mike loved the meat. We girls found it awful. The cheese was great though."



"Sally and I shared the Buckingham Palace and each got our own tea. We should have shared the tea as well because it was 5 cups in a pot."

Next in was an update from HoneyPooh72. She visited Disneyland earlier this week and sent us this report from her first day there.


"Sorry for the lack of updates. With only being at Disneyland for 3 days, the time just flew by!"

"Our first meal was at Tangaroa Terrace at the Disneyland Hotel. I completely forgot to take any pictures at all. We had 2 Hawaiian Cheeseburgers, a Barbecue Chicken Sandwich and an adult portion of the chicken strips and fries. We had sweet potato fries and regular french fries for sides. I can say that we were very impressed with all of the food. It was much better than expected. The chicken sandwich was a for sure favorite of the meal."

"We ate at Trader Sam's (also located at the DL Hotel) for dinner. Again I forgot the pictures, with the exception of the partially finished Uh Oa!...



Uh Oa! - Whoever is brave enough to conjure up this concoction cursed by Uh Oa, the tiki goddess of disaster, must be forewarned: When you mess with Polynesia, the tiki gods will squeeze ya (often with a lime)!
-- Light and Dark Rums, Orange, Passion Fruit, Guava, and Grapefruit Juices, Falernum, Cinnamon, and Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice. Recommended for Two or more Guests.


"We had the Pu Pu Platter, Chicken-Lettuce Wraps, 2 Kalua Pork Flatbreads and a plain Hamburger and fries. Again it was all very good. The Panko-Crusted Long Beans were a favorite."​

She and Rob began their day yesterday at Animal Kingdom and had breakfast at...










"We had the place to ourselves!"





"Rob and I both got a breakfast panini...





...and a cheese danish."




"The danish must have been fresh out of the oven because it was really warm. It was so good! Rob liked the panini more than me. It was little too much ham for me."



"Then for a snack in the afternoon I stopped at Mr. Kamal's (I think that's what it's called since there is no sign.)."

"So good! The mango salsa paired so well with these. Thanks to Mr. DDW for his tip a few months ago that these were here! I got to enjoy them in a nice shaded seating area behind the stand. Not a bad view!"

Next in yesterday were a couple of updates from Kathy (kanadar), starting with a breakfast snack update from Magic Kingdom's...










Kathy said, "We decided to get up this morning and head to Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom. Oddly it seemed like only maybe Fantasyland was open because there was quite a few people waiting to enter the rest of the park! But first we stopped at Starbucks for breakfast.






"I had the salted caramel mocha mocha frappuccino (in the picture) as well as a cinnamon swirl coffee cake (in the bag). The others got some type of coffee cake or banana bread but we didn't get any pictures of those. My cinnamon swirl was really good! I enjoyed it a lot and could see myself getting another one!" ​

Then Kathy's group park hopped over to Epcot to have lunch at the F & W Festival booths.


She said, "This time we started with...




"We started out with the filet and cheddar cheese soup."








"This was good as always. We shared the filet between the 4 of us. It was a huge piece!"




"Next we hit up...





"Here we chose the griddled greek cheese and the gyro."









"Both of these were winners. The cheese came right off the griddle (I had to wait a couple minutes for it) and was creamy and sweet. They gyro wasn't anything special, but we loved the tzaziki sauce and it came through prominently."





"After Greece, we made a quick stop at the Refreshment Port for the Orange Dole Whip with Creme de Cacao White."









"This was only okay. The creme de cacao was strong and competed with the orange flavors rather than complementing. Would have been better maybe if it was mixed in and not just poured on top."




"Then we headed for Hawaii to get the pork slider and an Aulani Sunrise."












"Loved the sliders and the sunrise was fruity and not too sweet or strong. I would definitely go back for another one of these!"





"Our next stop was at...




"Here we tried the seared scottish salmon and a banoffe tart."




"Nothing special about the salmon, could have used a sauce added to it. The tart was wonderful again!"




"Our next stop was at...





"We chose the pork belly and the black beer."




"The pork belly was the favorite of the day. It was tender and flavorful, very easy to cut and the accompaniments added to the dish well. The black beer was surprisingly light and we enjoyed it."





"Next was Argentina!...





"Here we tried the Beef Skewer with chimichurri sauce and boniato puree and the beef empanada."





"A perennial favorite, the skewer was good but the chimichurri is what makes the dish. Jeff had never had it before and really enjoyed it. The empanada was only deemed okay and was pretty plain."







"In Australia we got the grilled lamb chop, pavlova, and the Rosemount Estate Merlot."








"The lamb was delicious but small as usual. I felt it had a little bit too much mint, and took away from the lamb flavor but it was still great. The Pavlova had a nice flavor and the berries were ripe. The meringue was hard to cut into but was yummy, the custard with the berries was delicious! Merlot was nice."






"Next Mary headed to Mexico while we kept a table (sorry no booth pictures, camera was left at the table).


MEXICO



"She got a Taco de ribeye and a Shrimp taco for us to share."








"The shrimp taco was the winner here, not too battered and the flavor came out nicely. Beef was okay, but nothing to write home about."

"After riding the Gran Fiesta, we decided to head back to the hotel for a swim and relaxing before our evening at Hollywood Studios!"

She said, "I almost forgot to send you the pictures of what we grabbed as we were walking around to exit Epcot via the International gateway!"


"I had read on the DisneyFoodBlog about the Brown Elephant that was a Festival Offering at the Outpost."












"The Brown Elephant is Coca Cola with Amarula Coffee Cream. OH MY GOSH! This drink was delicious!!! It tasted like you had made a coke float but left it out and the ice cream melted. It was creamy cokey deliciousness!"




"Mary and my dad decided to stop at the American Coffee Cart for another Festival Offering. They ordered the Shakin Jamaican...



"You can get this served hot or cold, they decided on cold, as well as a m&m cookie (Mary has trouble saying no to cookies, but then again who doesn't!)."





"They both thought it was ok. It seems they put the alcohol on the bottom and then the frozen mix on top, so I would suggest trying to mix it BEFORE you take a sip. Mary and the girl who got it before her both made the same face! It was quite entertaining for me! Mary was very disappointed in the cookie and should have gone with one recommended on Disney Food Blog instead of this one or stopped at Karamel Kuche. Lesson learned!"

Paula flew out of the San Jose airport yesterday and had lunch there at...

Paula said, "I only opened the menu to get a pic, as there is only one choice for me!"



"The Bacon Cheeseburger!"


"It was cooked exactly the way I like it! And the fries are hot and crispy!"




Meanwhile, Hunter was at the Denver airport dining at...

"He started with Goat cheese stuffed dates wrapped in prosciutto...





...and then had the Elk Medallions."

"I love all the little details in this place. The food drawings going around the wall are so cute."

"We both asked for a pickle spear too. This was really good. Reminded me of being a kid."


"I didn't finish my meal because I was saving room for this...

"This was too good. Now how am I supposed to ever stay away from this place."

"He was pretty much in heaven with this cake."



"Right as we were finishing our dessert, I said that I wished someone would order the Kitchen Sink so we could watch them make it and sure enough, someone ordered it."







"They had flashing lights going and made a big deal when they delivered it to the table. So fun!"


"We had great service again and all the waitresses were chatting with us when they were standing behind the counter filling drink orders. This is our new favorite spot!" ​
