No Longer coming to you Live from Disney World! Take 3 DDW'S TAMBU LOUNGE 8/6

Paula (smile4stamps) attended two wine seminars yesterday afternoon and sent us these reports.

The first one was presented by Alexander Valley Vineyards.

"I attempted pictures of the presenter and the television displays but they didn't come out very well."

"It was an informative seminar but the wines weren't much to our taste. Hunter liked the Chardonnay best and he is far more a red wine person than a white."

"At 2:00 we had another wine seminar scheduled. We didn't want to deal with crowds so Hunter stayed in the festival center while I went to take care of renewing my AP. I got back to find he had gotten a little snack."

"Not the best but I guess it did in a pinch."

"Then we did the Grgich Hills Wine Seminar."

"Leaving I heard someone ask me if I was Paula. It was Gisèle (Arielle71, another live reporter)!"

"And we will possibly see them tonight as well, since they will also be going to the Swan & Dolphin Food & Wine Classic."

NOTE: For anyone keeping track, that makes 3 unscheduled DISmeets for Paula in her first two days at Disney World. :thumbsup2

And speaking of Gisèle (Arielle71), she was the reporter of our next three updates.

First one was from the Food & Wine Dinner which she and her DH attended on Friday night at...

She said, "The dinner was held in a small room to the left of the restaurant and featured wines from Milbrandt Vineyard of Washington."

"Amuse bouche: beignet of smoked feta 5/5."

"First course: charcuterie and cheese plate 5/5."

"2nd course: seafood soup 3.5/5 (tasted really lemony)."

"Entremets: spiced apple granité 4.5/5."

"3rd course: lamb medallion with squash polenta 4.5/5."

"Dessert: nougat, poached pear cheesecake, spiced applecake, praline sorbet and pistachio butter 10/5!!!"

"Parting gift: olive oil and balsamic vinegar."

"The dinner was 100% better then Wolfgang Puck's."

Next was Gisèle's update from their lunch yesterday at Epcot's...

"I had a kid's mac and cheese and DH had a steak and blue cheese sandwich."

Then Gisèle reported on both the culinary demonstration and the wine seminar which she and her DH attended yesterday afternoon.

She said, "At 1 pm we had a demo with the Hearty Boys."

"We had a salt-crusted beef tenderloin with fruit salad, paired with a Milbrandt Vineyard Cab. Excellent!"

"Then at 2 pm we did the Grgich Hills wine seminar where we met Paula and her DH!"

Next in were a couple more updates from Jeri (jerseytinkerbell).

She and Rob headed to the Polynesian Resort yesterday morning to have breakfast at...

Breakfast menu...

"Rob and I shared the French Press Pot...

"Rob had his favorite, the Samoan...

"I had the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes and ham...

"Not too impressed with these. Too plain and too many macadamia nuts. Should have stuck with the Tonga Toast." :(

"It's always great to be in the Polynesian. So beautiful!"

Hi Everyone! Goofy and I have been catching up on all your wonderful F&W updates all weekend! We're so very excited for our trip which starts in about 2 1/2 weeks! (Nov 8-16.)

... Thank you all for helping us pick out our "must try" list for this visit & F&W. This is our third trip in about a year and a half and we'll be celebrating a combination of things: my promotion at work (which has kept me off the disboards and away from DL :( ), our 2 year anniversary  (IDK where the time went!!!), and Goofy's bday! Right now our ADR's are about half returning (Narcossees, Biergarten, Coral Reef, etc) and half new (The Wave, Captain's Grill, Yachtsman, etc)

I'll make sure to officially introduce our plans (for those of you who haven't seen our updates/habitual need for cupcakes before) in the next week or two!

Thanks again everyone- Especially Barb for keeping this going!!! I'm so excited to be contributing again!!!

Then Jeri also sent us an update from their lunch at Magic Kingdom's...

She said, "After checking in at BLT we headed over to MK beccause I had a Fastpass reservation for BOG."

"I was so excited to have the Fastpass and to try BOG for the first time. Here are the ordering stations once you get inside."

Menus...

"The ordering process was very annoying. We felt so rushed and it was so hard to hear the CM as we were ordering."

"I wanted to sit in the West Wing but it was such a madhouse in there so we grabbed the first seats we saw in the ballroom."

"We did not get one of those plastic rose locators because now they can locate you by your MagicBand (which is kinda scary actually). The food came out within 2 minutes of being seated."

"I started with the Potato Leek Soup...

"This was very tasty and a good portion size."

"Then I got the Prime Chuck Roast Beef Sandwich."

"This was okay. Not bad but certainly not memorable."

"Rob had the Carved Turkey Sandwich."

"He said it was just okay. He wished he ordered my sandwich so I actually ended up giving him most of mine. He liked it a little better than the turkey."

"For dessert I got The Master's Cupcake...

"Meh. It was a chocolate cupcake. The Grey Stuff was indeed grey. It had little to no flavor. So disappointing!"

"Rob got the Tropical Fruit Cream Puff for dessert."

"He took one bite of this and just shook his head. He hated it! He specifically wanted me to say that he wouldn't finish it and he finishes everything. I tried the tiniest bite and it was nasty. If you were to accidentally have your mouth open when spraying a fruity body spray, that's what this tasted like. Ewww!"

"The stained glass window on your way out...

"The entire meal was so disappointing for us! I was so hyped and was completely let down. If I waited outside for over an hour in the 90 degree heat today in order to eat here, I would be very upset. This was such a waste. Should have done Beaches & Cream again."

Next Kathy (kanadar) sent the rest of her report from their visit to the Food & Wine Festival on Friday.

"Our next stop was...

"Here we got Zapiekanki, kielbasa and pierogi, and a frozen szarlotka."

"We are Polish, so this is a favorite booth for us. The pierogi was good as always, and we thought the Mickey shaped sour cream was a nice touch. The Zapiekanki was a standout for Mary and my dad. They said it was similar to a creamy garlic bread with mushrooms melted in and a zesty tomato ketchup gave it that something extra. The Szarlotka tasted like a frozen cider slushie and was nice and refreshing."

"Germany came next and here we sampled one of each."

"The bratwurst was good, but nothing special. It came with a nice mustard to put on top."

"The Schinkennudlen, other than being fun to say, was tasty! It was similar to church potatoes or hash brown potato bake, but with the ham already added in. The Apple strudel, though somewhat difficult to cut, was flavorful and sweet."

"The country of Cheese was next." ;)

"I don't think it had the best placement, as Germany and the Brewer's corner are both perennial favorites, this corner gets quite congested. We tried both the Almond Crusted Blue Cheese Soufflé and the cheese plate along with the Once Upon a Vine Charming Pinot, and Lost Slipper Sauvignon Blanc."

"The souffle, while including many wonderful components, just did not work. The blue cheese didn't come out and the fig compote surprisingly did not balance with the sweetness I thought it would and the almonds got in the way. The cheese plate, however, was delicious. Mary's favorite was the Flagship Reserve with honey, but the Brie and goat's Gouda were both good as well. The wines were good, but not memorable."

"It was about here we hit a food wall. We wanted to keep going and knew we only had about 4-5 countries left to fill out our passports, but it was getting hot and the World Showcase doesn't provide much shade from the heat. We decided to walk the long way around on our way back and did manage to hit a few more booths."

"In South Korea we tried the Kimchi dog and this was very good."

"The kimchi and mustard had a nice spice to it. Not overly spicy if you enjoy heat, but perhaps a bit much if you don't."

"And our final review of the festival comes from China, where we shared the Mongolian Beef in a steamed bun."

"We had this last year and liked it, and felt the same this year. This also has some spice to it from the sauce, and the beef is flavorful. Unlike some other booths, the bun here actually added to the dish."

Next up are a couple more updates from Paula (smile4stamps), starting with a snack update from Epcot's...

She said, "Working our way back to the Dolphin, we wanted just a little something to tide us over. All the food booth lines were huge so instead we went to Tangierine Cafe for a side of hummus."

"It's not on the menu but is the same price as the other sides."

Then we have Paula's report from her second night at Swan & Dolphin Food & Wine Classic.

She said, "The F & W Classic night two went quite a bit differently from the first night. It was VERY HOT and VERY CROWDED. We tried all the food except for the Sushi selection and a few glasses of wine and then simply called it a night. So here is what we had."

"These were really tasty!"

"This was very different in that the lamb was shredded and not what I would normally expect in a gyro."

"There really is fish under there!!"

"We also had some beer-battered fish that were wonderful but I forgot to take a picture."

"This was phenomenal and the only thing we stood in line to have seconds of!"

"Also very good! A ton of flavor for being vegetarian!"

"Another outstanding il Mulino choice! Will have to actually try the restaurant sometime!"

"A chocolate raspberry brioche sandwich."

"The rest of the desserts."

"It was again really good food but the heat and crowds just got to us so we are just relaxing in our room."

Next in were a couple of updates from Kayla (cheshirecatattack).

The first one was from her breakfast yesterday at AKL's...

BOMA

"My brother's first plate consisted of (starting at 3:00) corned beef hash, sausage, ham, turkey, turkey bobotie, grilled asparagus and breakfast potatoes."

"My mom's first plate had bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes, ham and grilled asparagus."

"My plate had the same as my brother's minus sausage."

"My second plate I had African fruit salad, a croissant, pecan sticky bun and raisin bread pudding with pecan praline sauce."

"I didn't get photos of my mom and brother's second plates but they were mostly fruit. Everything was fresh and really good. The favorites were the sticky buns, the bobotie and the carved ham and turkey."

Next Kayla sent a snack update from Epcot.

She said, "We also stopped at the Dessert and champagne booth and got the trio."

"I liked the pistachio mousse the best. I'd give the trio 4/5, they were all good. The cupcake was a little dry."

"Later we went to France to sample the new ice cream shop.

"We had pistachio, hazelnut and chocolate mint."

And one more update from Kayla, this one from their dinner last night at AKL's...

The MARA

She said, "I had the African Stew."

"It was absolutely delicious. I also grabbed some zebra domes for later. My favourite item I've had so far."

"My mom and brother both had the rotisserie chicken."

"They enjoyed that as well."

She said, "Lunch Thursday was at...

Big River Grille

"We started off with a beer sampler...

"I liked the light beer best. Mike liked the Red Rocket."

"Our sandwiches had so much lettuce on them it is hard to tell what the meat looks like."

"This is the California Chicken with avocado and kettle chips...

"The chicken was a bit dry."

"My excellent blackened Mahi Mahi...

"I added avocado and substituted garlic mashed potatoes for the chips. The mahi was nice thick filet. This was really well-seasoned and as good as any at a much better restaurant. One of my favorites all trip. Mashed potatoes were great too."
