No Lie Disney Dream Review

No one here seems to have a problem with OP's opinions on the cruise....but I do think people have a big issue with his elitist attitude and his obvious disregard for parenting styles other than his own..... and that only his opinion is the RIGHT opinion which we all know is not true....an opinion is just that, an opinion...everyone has one and no ones is right or wrong. Never heard of a false opinion, though.:thumbsup2

I don't think we had a slew of professional bloggers coming here and posting their sugar coated, paid reviews to trick us into thinking the Dream is perfect (the thought of this strikes me as funny). This board is mainly comprised of your everyday person who wants info (good or bad) about DCL. The everyday cruisers on this board post valid experiences of THEIR cruise and people can take away from it what they want. The OP seems to have an agenda to prove that his opinion is the only correct one. To me, a "professional blogger's" review holds no more credibility or weight than any of the other posters on this board. For him to imply that his opinion is the superior opinion is an insult to the rest of us as we must not know how to review the ship because we are not a professional blogger. Most people on this board have "paid their own expense" to go on a DCL cruise.

Liquor laws are established by states and in some cases counties (depending upon where you live). Having lived in 10 different states and spent time in about 20 more, I can tell you that except for a drinking age of 21 (which has only been universal in the US since the late 80s), there is nothing universal about what is legal or illegal - even the limits for drunk driving, what constitutes public drunkeness, how old you have to be to sell it, when and where liquor is sold, etc, vary greatly. And then you have a few counties that are "dry" counties which means that there is another entire set of laws pertaining to buying/drinking alcohol.

This is the fun of travel - realizing that how things are done where you live is not necessarily the way it is done everywhere - even in other parts of the US!!:)

You are absolutely correct about how other states, counties etc handle the liquor laws in their independent areas, we have quite a few "dry" counties in my local area. I personally have worked with the ATF and training of bar/restaurant employees who were required to enforce the laws with their patrons in their establishments.

However my post was just in reference to the police officer that I quoted above my post, that said in general it wasn't illegal and no laws were being broke, just pointing out the fact that the laws do vary and it is illegal in certain states.

Point well taken. I apologize if I offended anyone. All I was referring to is the people across the internet that went on media previews of the ship when it was a 25% occupancy, etc. that really couldn't evaluate what they were seeing. I wasn't referring to anyone here on the boards in any respect. I am just stating what I noticed against the "Professionals" that previewed the cruise for FREE. If you think about it you will understand.

The pools are square, but the inner ring is round. The outside edge is maybe ankle deep. They took a lot of the pool space away. 4000 people is what one of the officers of the ship told me the ship can handle + crew. These pools are not designed for even a fraction of that.

On the Magic and Wonder they posted the Navigators on the top deck so you could see what was going on. There were none on the Dream.

Cabanas is the main reason why the pools are so quite different than on the other ships. Cabanas is double + in size on the Dream.

I understand that others found you can ask a person for an omelet, but you didn't have to do this on the others. Why cut something that most people enjoy?

I have never been against the smoking moves that Disney made. I am a person that feels that alcohol is just as bad as smoking in some reality. I can't get a ticket for DWS (Driving While Smoking). At least not yet. If you look at the smoking side of this the government is/has been trying to attribute smoking to every cancer, disease that they can. They could be looking at alcohol the same way. I know people that have permanent kidney damage from alcohol. I know that fires can be caused by smoking, but that is totally pushing this in a different direction. We can find faults in everything that is out there.

Once again... I am sorry if I offended anyone. I don't feel my opinion is law. I just feel that a lot of people have been smoke-screened by some of the things that are written on the net. First time cruisers don't understand until it is too late in some cases.

NOTE>>>
I spoke with 6 families after the cruise to see if they enjoyed what they had gotten. Out of the 6 families I spoke to they told me that they felt the food quality was not as expected, and the pool seemed very small for such a large ship.

Obviously Mr OP sees the glass (of what I wonder) half empty. I would like to know which cabin he will be in on his next perfect cruise so I don't have to inhale his leftover smoke. I REALLY cannot understand how he justifies smoking as better than alcohol, I honestly believe that a parent who has a few drinks is MUCH more responsible than some who subjects everyone to his/her second hand smoke. JMO.

:thumbsup2 Thank you MJ, very well said:thumbsup2

Here in Ontario, Canada you CAN get a ticket for smoking in a vehicle with a child. The fine is $250.

Actually, for me (I don't speak for anyone else), my issue with the OP is the "facts" that he keeps spouting, that are just very wrong.

No... Meaning when you call DVC to let them know your opinion, and document some of the issues they advise you have to call DCL. Call DCL and they say call DVC. A big circle. No compensation. Don't need it. I can go elsewhere. But do think about this... If you paid a lot of money for something, and nothing was to your expectations, etc. wouldn't you look to see what they might offer? Don't lie if you say no, then you are a liar, or just extremely rich, and don't care about your money in this economy.

I can't believe that no one commented on the last line. Maybe I am wrong in assuming that you really mean compensation where you said customer service. Were you really serious about seeking compensation for you disappointing trip?

OMG call me a liar!!

We had such a great time on the dream(1st cruise) that we have booked a couple more Disney cruise's with one of them 2 weeks to HAWAII!

We just sugar coated over how bad it really was to impress?????????????

Finally finished reading the whole thread.

THANK YOU! I had a long day at work (sitting at a desk waiting for phone calls) and between this thread and the blogs I had quite a bit of interesting reading material to get me through an otherwise boring Sunday!:thumbsup2popcorn::

Boy you missed the boat... This was about the Dream and expectations that were set and not met. That isn't on the Dream either. Check your facts. The 15 day to Hawaii is on the other ship. Read. Then comment.

Dear OP,

I'm not addressing any one particular post as you have provided too much fodder for me to sort out. I think I will sum this up noting MJ's post that most people on these boards are just folks looking to have a great vacation, and most of the posts are simply from those who have been on board and are offering advice.

While you claim to be offering unbiased reviews, I have to wonder about your intentions as you claim to be currently on board the Dream, yet have posted 13 times since she was scheduled to set sail. It seems to me you have an axe to grind as most people would be intent on having fun rather that disparaging other folks on a forum. For God's sake, go enjoy yourself, you're on VACATION.

Kind Regards

My mistake, I re-read your initial post and you are off the ship. I will repost shortly

OP, the word "expectation" didn't come up in your initial post, but now you are referring to it twice in your last 2 posts. I am guessing, just guessing, that you have set preconceived expectation based on your previous experience on the Magic/Wonder and it has dominated everything happening to you on the Dream. Anything that is different from what you had on the Magic/Wonder has immediately become a bad thing to you.

Have you been drinking?

Please read again!

I blogged/posted that WE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME ON THE DREAM!

We went in Feb. a month after it launched and it was sold out and full of kids and we had a great time.

Sorry you didn't get your money's worth. We paid extra and it was great!

Seems like your just trying to promote your sites rather then help people!

Good grief - YOU read and then comment...

KingRichard said he had a good experience on the Dream and had more DCL cruises booked including Hawaii - he never said he was going to HI on the Dream...

I think you need to get off your high horse, set your blog aside and realize that your opinion is yours to have. You posted in a manor that said "I will tell the 100% truth" and we have questioned it. Luckily the people here will read the boards and form their own opinion - and most will not agree with yours.

On the Magic and Wonder they posted the Navigators on the top deck so you could see what was going on. There were none on the Dream.

I spoke with 6 families after the cruise to see if they enjoyed what they had gotten. Out of the 6 families I spoke to they told me that they felt the food quality was not as expected, and the pool seemed very small for such a large ship.

A few comments:

1) As others said, it isn't the actual "review" that most people are disagreeing with, rather it is the way that you declared that your review was the truth --- and unbiased --- when in reality any review is biased.

2) We received a navigator in our room every night, hand-delivered. If I ever needed another one, I could have gotten it at the guest services desk. I didn't need a publicly posted one to "see what was going on." I would much prefer to have my own copy that could go with me.

3) On your point about the pools and food, while I spoke to many people who loved the food (myself included), I don't think anyone would disagree that the pools are lacking. That is universally agreed upon on this board. I haven't seen anyone dispute that. I posted a very positive review of the ship yesterday, yet I was sure to mention that the pools were lacking. So, needless to say, your rants on that topic aren't breaking new ground or dispelling any myths.
