No Lids

We are here now and a handful of locations have put our drinks on a tray without a lid, even for the beverage that comes with a kids meal. Happened at Pinocchio Haus and Cosmic Ray’s today. When DH asked for ice
water at Cosmic Ray’s he did get a lid and straw. The customer ahead of me at La Cantina in Epcot asked for a lid and was told “we just stopped today” and did not seem to have any behind the counter. Backlot Express had lids and straws at the self-serve drink station yesterday, and Woody’s at HS did have lids and straws as well.

Meanwhile with every last purchase we have been offered so many plastic bags that I have to hand back half of them.
Wow, really? We're heading down in a little over a week and we're not expecting to have to deal with this already. Argh.... I really hope most places still have them while we're there. I need some time to figure out what to do in the future. Really annoying, but thank you for reporting.

It's not hard to figure out. Bring a reusable cup if having a lid means a lot to you.

It's annoying to deal with, but it's not a huge problem that you need to plan around.

MagicBands actually work perfectly fine for gates, doors, tickets, FP+, charging, DDP .... without the batteries so technically they are good forever. They only need the battery part for the active RFID so that would be ride photos (with no taps) and interactive effects when/if they use them.

I thought you needed the battery part for the door opening. A few years ago, we had trouble opening the the door and CM said maybe our MB were too old. Which wasn't the reason is this case, I had started having the year as part of our name like this JoJo18.

I've kept mine for a few years and then toss them.

Sell a unlimited drink cup, like the ones at the resorts, that can be used in all the parks. Has a lid and include a reuable straw. Add a clip on it to make it easy to attach to your bag or belt.

Like you can get at most every other theme park! We have them as part of our as pkg at universal this trip

Nope. Anything that comes in close proximity uses the passive RFID and needs no battery.

All options for saving the environment are on the table. Except ones that might cost Disney some sales.

We bring reusable cups or bottles into the parks anyways. Those stainless steel ones that keep ice for hours are the best. Then you just dump your drink into it

It is kinda hard to figure out as I def. dont want to have to lug around reusable cups for everyone. Lol...I dont know to me doing that all day doesn't sound like fun.

Honestly, although it's still really annoying, I would rather just bring disposable lids/straws of my own, but I'd need yo figure out the size, where to order etc...in a week. Not that I want to lug around my own lid/straws, but it'd take up much less room than cups for everyone.

Bring a reusable sipper and dump your drink into a sipper.
And lose what fizz the soda still has. Yum.

One more thing to carry around. Just squish it into your pocket like you do with the reusable bag, right?

It sounds good, until you have to work how it actually will work.

Looks like bottled water it is. I don’t like their fountain derinks anyways- tastes like Florida water

At home, I use one every single day. It's great. However, I certainly don't want to carry my heavy ice filled cup around a park all day. I try to enter the park with as little as possible.

I'm all for doing what we can to help the environment. We all should make some small changes that can help the planet but I'm not sure I agree with these rapid changes without thinking of all aspects. I use a straw from time to time. I'm trying to get better but sometimes I just want one. Period. As for the lids, ugh... I'm on the fence about this. Bugs, flies, who knows what else fly into your cups. Let alone trying to get through a QS location with open cups on a tray. It doesn't sound overly appealing.

I guess I don't have a choice. I'm still going. I'm still going to by a drink or get cups of ice water. Once again, I am at the mercy of Disney.

I'll have to do that. I don't like bottled water or pop. I like mine with ice and to deal with Florida heat, I need to have ice water with me at all times. So I guess I'll be bringing my own bottle and dumping my drink into it.

The straw debate was started by a 7 year old, so I'm not sure how it really impacts the environment in the overall picture. I don't like walking around with out a lid on my coffee. It's simply unsanitary. So, there's that.....

Yeah, I'm not seeing this lasting very long. For one thing, it increases drastically the likelihood of spills and cast members are going to start grumbing about cleaning up spilled pop from just about every surface in the park.

Secondly, as has been mentioned, walking around with an open drink is unsanitary. There's no way to keep dirt, dust and bugs from getting into your drink. Plus, I don't know what kind of wasp problem DL or WDW has, but wasps love sugary drinks. The only way to keep them away is to put a cover on your drink.
