We just called Disney to get started on our intimate wedding plans and we aren't sure we heard her right but we think she said that there are no room or ticket discounts with the intimate wedding- not even for the bride and groom!!!!! I hope that is not right - please someone clarify!! thanks

That is absolutely correct........

The frustrating part though is two years ago there were discounts for intimate bride and grooms, they recently changed their policies. Sorry! I was bummed as well when i heard the news, we were kinda counting on that discount as well.

But, we are still having our intimate and only staying with Disney the minimum four nights and then we are moving to Shades of Green.

From what I've seen, you can get about the same rate - or possibly better - just by using the discounts available to Annual Passholders (if you are/will be one) or by going during the off season. Check www.mousesavers.com frequently - they always have the latest discount codes available.

That's crazy tho because you are giving them alot of money - they should give you a free night!!!!!!! Thanks lurkyloo for the savings tip!!!!!1

We didn't get room discounts, but we did get ticket discounts through the wedding web site they set up for you. It becomes active around 4 weeks before your wedding, so buy them then.
One of my guests purchased the AP and get a massive discount on his room. He saved over a $1000 and got it cheaper than I did.

I know that on my Disney Wedding Website, it allows guests to purchase tickets at a discounted rate. I'm just letting my Family know that they have to purchase at least one regular priced MYW ticket to get the Disney Dining Plan. Somtimes it works out to be cheaper paying rack rates and stuff, depending on how you spend your money in the parks...do you eat there, or do you bring food? This helped us decide on how to budget our trip! Hope this helps! Good luck! :sunny:

Are the room discounts from the AP very massive? I've been searching but can't find a spec list.

You might want to consider renting a reservation from a DVC member. Most times a room is about 13 points or so a night so at $10ish a point you can stay in a nice studio for $130...that is with a small kitchenette. Check out the rent/trade board here on the DIS.

PS Sun-Fri at Saratoga Springs is 65 point during the summer...so that would be $650. Not sure what a moderate or deluxe would run you.

I just looked and that board is neat. Do I have to already have "points" or can I just pay someone actual money for the reservations?

Thanks! :) :)

If you are not a member you are actually rent the reservation. A member makes the reservation and you rent it from them. The member controls the reservation at all times. From what I understand, most people use a contract to make sure everything is covered...money, problems etc. Check that board or the DVC misc. board for more info. I have never rented out my points but many people have.

I believe another bride on this board rented points for her wedding. Maybe she will pop up and answer any questions you have (sorry don't remember who it is...maybe put up a post on this board with a title that will catch her attention).

Let me know if i can be of any more help and I will try to get answers!

Don't worry too much about the discounts--we got much better room discounts using our annual passholder discount than we would have through our custom wedding room block. Also, if you are a AAA member, Disney offers room discounts for that too. There are lots of great ways to save some money on the rooms, and many of them are bigger discounts than the custom wedding room block discounts. Also, remember that only one of you would need to buy an annual pass in order to get the room discount. :)
