No expiration tickets

I searched around the DIS a little bit and found no concrete answers. Now that I am a DVC member, I can say I vastly prefer posting here. Everyone is so helpful (and less dramatic!).

The WDW website is now not showing "No expiration" as an option on new tickets. I was planning on spending some of my tax refund buying two 10-day hoppers, water parks & more, and no expiration tickets. We go for short trips, so this would save us money for the next 2-3 years. Most elsewhere on the dis seem to agree the new website stinks and it is just an error. Any ideas?

I am planning on buying from undercover tourist anyways, but I wonder if the tickets really are being phased out, if I should buy sooner than later.

I believe it's a bug in the 'My Disney Experience' version of the Disney World website. On my iPad, I still get the old version of the Disney World website and the 'No Expire' option is still available.

i lean toward it being a glitch in the website conversion also.

but i admit, the new RFID thing makes me wonder if they'd go away from no-expire options...

I had called and was told that due to confusion they were wanting people to call in for ticket purchases with the no expiration option. Not a lot of detail as to why, just that they were getting complaints from guests who didn't know what they were buying.

I'm wondering if three things were happening...

1) People really thought the MYW tickets never expired, even without the No Expiration option.

2) People were wanting to upgrade to the no expiration option after the 14 day initial use date, perhaps on a later visit to the parks.

3) People thought they could pay for no expiration only on unused days, and not all of the days of the original ticket.

I called a week ago about this and I was told there was a problem with the website. They do indeed still offer the no expiration offer. Just to make sure I bought me another one from undercover tourists::)

We have AP's, PAP's and no expiration tickets covering our WDW vacations until 2026 so I'm not worried. :goodvibes

I was told the No expiring option will not return to the website due to consumer user trends.

That if you wish to purchase no expiration tickets you can call or wait and get them there.

Sounds like another lost option to increase Disney's profit to me. :sad2:

We always get the no expire, 10 days. wonder if the option will be disappearing completely in the future. Hope not.

we purchased tickets about 13 months ago and they say does not expire until 14 days after first use. Is this and will this still be honored?

That is the normal ticket expiration policy and it is still in effect.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

I suspect this is more an issue of presenting a simpler ticket menu to casual vacation planners, than a change in policy. If it were a change in policy, they'd simply get rid of the option in one fell swoop.

You can still order them by phone from WDW.

Mousesaver's confirms they are being phased out as indicated by the website and the option no longer appearing at the ticket windows.

It actually makes sense to eliminate the no expiration option for tickets if they go all to wrist bands and no finger scanners to prevent use by more than one person and the selling of unused days on the black market.

But they are not going all wristbands. They have stated that those staying off-site would have to purchase wristbands to use FastPass+ or continue to use RFID enabled MYW tickets. And they do have finger scanners at the new entrances.

That does not mean the option is being phased out. It could instead mean that they've decided to simplify the ticketing options for the casual visitor. They still sell the option if you call or ask for it. Presumably, if they wanted to eliminate it, they'd just do so in one fell swoop.

I suppose time will tell, but I am not yet convinced---and this is not wishful thinking, as I have never purchased the no-expire option. It has never been a good deal for my vacation patterns.

Brian, what kind of tickets do you normally buy? Do you go enough to make an annual pass worth it? I go down there for 3-4 days every year or every other year, so this makes tickets about as cheap as I can get them ( if you don't mind the upfront investment).
