No DVC rooms week of June 17-24?

I checked for a 2-bedroom DVC unit at Saratoga Springs the other day and there were rooms available. Now I checked tonight and there is nothing available that whole week, no studios, no one bedroom, or two bedroom units.

Does anyone know if there are lots of events going on the week of June 17-24?

Well, we just past to inside 60 days for that time. Prior to 60 days out Disney needs to have points (unsold, 2% reserve, traded for cruise or hotel collection, or ROFR they have not sold) to book/reserve rooms. Those points have a home resort and UY, and are subject to all the same rules as our points (7 month, 11 month, expiration). Once inside 60 days, they can "sell" any unbooked room for cash under the "breakage" clause. They then offset dues with some of the revenue. It is all detailed in the POS. So, availability disappearing at the 60 day window is not totally unexpected.

Any rooms within 60 days can be pulled and be sold for cash.

But, it’s also possible that someone booked. Remember, the website doesn’t show how many rooms are there. It could have just been one.

If the rooms have been pulled as breakage inventory, which is possible, you can call MS and ask them to make the reservation for you.

Not easily….but they have the right to take rooms if they want and offer them for cash stays.. There have been very few times though when nothing is available for the entire 60 days but it might be a few days here or there.

Even now, there are sporadic days showing here and there.

Well, that is part of the program…if we don’t book before 60 days we risk nothing available

They don’t have to pull it back but I agree that at least calling May mean they have something that isn’t showing and can get you a room.

There has never been a promise of flexibility with holding points. Holding is a penalty for late cancel. Penalties are... Well, penalties.

There was an abnormal amount of rooms available, and some had just shown up - like a BLT Lake View Studio from the middle of May through August, basically had nightly availability. Yesterday around 3:00p eastern time availability for everything basically went away until June 27, which would have been 61 days from yesterday.

My theory is that the system (yet another IT glitch) forgot to pull rooms out of inventory for breakage or potentially was putting some rooms back into inventory (like that BLT studio) from breakage. So, while this may typically happen at the 60 day mark and it is more difficult to notice, this time around it basically did a month of breakage at a time.

To back up my theory on the breakage pull, if you look at cash reservations on the WDW site from June 1-26 you can get something for the entire span of 26 nights at 8 out of the 12 DVC resorts. Only ones you can't are PVB, BCV, CCV, and VGF (which isn't show oddly unless you go into the regular GF resort).

You can call and they can find you options. They just won't be in the self-serve booking system because of the IT involved.

Reasonably functional online booking for DVC is really only a thing in the last, what, 10-15 years? At this point, having to book by phone is one of the byproducts of holding.

I agree that calling might gain you a room as they might have something but not all rooms for cash are there due to breakage. They may be there because of trades, or there because they were booked with DVDs own points. We have no right to those rooms as they are technically already tied to points.

But, in the end, I don’t think they have to offer you anything if things are booked…I don’t see it as a breach because the system is set up that way.

Offering people a chance to use points, even with the 60 day limit, is better than what the system could have been…cancel last minute and loose the points.

But, as I said, there certainly were options this morning for some nights…and most often, I have seen things…but, when I had to rebook this winter, my only option was a RIV grand Villa for one night…had to take it and adjust my Feb trip. Or lose a lot of points.

I have been looking for mid May and noticed the same thing yesterday. Saturday had full availability in many room types and than there was nothing anywhere on property for all of May through the end of June

Just notice system is down for maintenance. Hopefully they will fix whatever they had going on with taking all inventory.

Now all rooms gone through July 4. That’s over 60 days. Any thoughts? This includes 1 bedrooms at SSR and the Tree House Villas. All of SSR had full availability 2 days ago for the last 3-4 days in June and all of July. If there is an issue with the website, DVC should send out an email.

Certainly not what I had expected to see after waking up this morning. I figured there would be some days back within 60 days, not days gone even longer than that....
