We have gone to Disney every year since our son was born, because the family that plays together, stays together. I have ALWAYS beena able to get some kind of discount- (we cannot afford rack rate, especially now with the inflated prices) and this year there appears to be NO DISCOUNTS for us. We tried doing bounceback when we were there in Nov, they told us our week in Novmber is not discounted. BUT IT IS FOR THE 40% OFF CODE. :sad2: I cancelled our Disney vacation in November, I am SO DISGUSTED. We will now be sitting on numerous 10 Day Nonexpiring park hoppers until we can find a good deal. -peeved with the poor customer appreciation attitude:sad2:

That is awful! Can't believe they didn't include your week in the bounceback and then included it in the 40-off code.

This is looking like the least-friendly code year yet for our time period (May).

Maybe you'll get the code via e-mail or mail still and rebook?

Did you call? I didn't get the code email, but did call and it was no problem getting the code applied to my reservations. I called and got a quote and after the CM told me the price, I asked him to check for any additional discounts that I might be considered for. He found a 30% discount, then continued to look and found the 40% discount. We go to WDW 4 times a year and usually stay at a DVC resort using our points, but wanted to save up some points.

Can you tell me what a bounce back is? I'm a newbie

Bounceback is for guests staying at a Walt Disney World resorts. While you are checked in to the hotel, you have to book your reservation before departing from your hotel. There was a 30% off for Deluxe resorts and 40% off for DVC Villas. Example: AKL standard room was $157.50 and Villa (studio) was $159.00. I'm booked for bounceback in September, but will be canceling for our main trip in December.

Discounts were also available for Moderates and Values, however at a reduced percentage rate off.

All the more reason that Disney needs a frequent visitor rewards program=(

I received a 40% discount code in the mail but had my Dad's name on it. It was mailed to my address because I paid for my parents entire trip last January as well as my own. I called to see if I could apply it to my reservation this september that includes my husband , two dtrs, and we are bringing my in-laws this year. They said no!!!! My dad had to be going for it to be used. I go to Disney every year and spend alot of money and I get the answer no. I called again and it was denied. I'm really disappointed in Disney right now. They seem to penalize there loyal customers. It seems the people that go once or twice are the lucky ones. Sorry to vent but Disney really let me down.:sad2:

You could join AAA and book with them for a discount. Also sometimes there are Disney hotels listed on Expedia
:surfweb: I am looking for a good discount room too!

Call back and ask for a supervisor.. explain that YOU live at the address on the card and not your father.. there have been numerous reports in the last year of people getting postcards for the previous residents of the house/apt .. and being allowed to use it if they were the current residents.. (for example..) .. I'm surprised you were told this multiple times.

As for going yearly and not getting offered a discount.. well.. if they were analyzing customer patterns, the computer might be programmed to review your account and go "Well, this customer goes every year.. no need to 'entice' her back, she'll come anyway.."

It's important to remember the reasons why Disney offers these codes and discounts on rooms.

1) They have empty rooms to fill. If your week isn't offered on a particular code .. it's because for the purposes of THAT promotional code, Disney didn't feel it needed to 'push' rooms for that week.

2) Disney uses these promotional tools to entice visitors back sooner than they might otherwise come back if they were paying the full rate. If you are making 2 trips a year like clockwork, yes, it's POSSIBLE you might get an offer ... but then again it's just as possible you might not.

For everything I've read and learned about Disney in my lifetime, they do not use these offers to reward frequent visitors for their loyalty. That doesn't appear to be a considering factor.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind if you DO get an offer in the mail...

Flexibility is KEY to being able to take advantage of the postcard/email offers:

a) Not all resorts/room categories/views are available for all weeks on the postcard/email. This means if you have your heart set on staying in a Polynesian room with a Magic Kingdom view ... you'll have to be extremely flexible as to what week you go to Disney and even then you may not get that exact room category.

b) If you're looking for a discount during very specific dates - you may very well be disappointed. Since these promotions are offered to fill what would otherwise be empty resort rooms ... if you're travelling during a fairly busy period, don't expect any discounts to EVER become available. Its best to see if you can arrange your travel around one of the known dates of the offer .. rather than consistenly holding out for an offer for your exact dates... an offer that may never come.

For more info on Codes/Discounts and the 40% off promotion.. see this thread...

I know what you mean about it being tough in not getting the discount you wanted in November. I see that you mention about not being able to afford the rack rate, have you thought of staying at one of the value resorts? That way you could save some money, still be able to afford your vacation, and enjoy Disney. :goodvibes

Chin up everyone! Last year it was the same way. But some terrific public codes came out later in the year to cover a lot of the missing dates (excluding summer and peak of course). Just because we don't get one now doesn't mean we won't get a great public code later!! :goodvibes

call back....they let a friend of ours use my code and all i did was ask....they dont live with us and they still let them..if it has your address you should be able to use it..

I totally understand...I was stressing about my trip over this past weekend for the same reason. Was going to the 1/2 marathon/marathon with a friend of mine who wanted to stay at the Poly. Didn't get any AP discount, so we were prepared to split rack rate. Then, my friend got injured, so was not coming on the trip. Great. I'm paying rack at the Poly by myself, as there were no resorts to switch to when I called.
Lo and behold, I was checking in and upgraded free to concierge.

So...still out more money than I would have felt good about paying, but I sort of got a discount by having the upgrade. I tell myself it's because I go to WDW a lot. Or maybe I just got lucky.

I hate that the discounts aren't as deep or prevalent as they were a few years ago, but I suppose when you figure that at least people are traveling again after the huge impact of 9/11, maybe it's not that bad?:confused3
