No Buy June

Wow Paula! I'm really impressed! You had a great month!

Our budget was really high this month anyway and we still went over by $800 ... too many unplanned things this month ....

See you all in July! Canada Day tomorrow and everything is closed so at least I know I'll be starting with a no spend day ... I'll be packing lunches for our visit to Parliament Hill :cool1:

June 29: $0
June 30: won't be zero, but will be about $50 cause that's all I have left :rotfl2: for groceries.

Total for June (not including today) is $2,260.60

Over $260.60. I decided that the $1,200/month budget wasn't realistic, as in the 34 weeks that I've been keeping the spreadsheet, I only came close in May with $1246.

I'm changing the budget to under $2,000 a month, and my challenge now will be how far under 2k I can keep it.

On to July...

Totalling up...

Grocery = $287.66
Drugstore (which also includes some grocery items - do you all divide up grocery & non-grocery items from your receipts?) = $82.72
Eating out = $197.09
Misc snacks = $16.41
Cat food = $46.43
Baby items = $94.26
Laundry = $61.60 (I know, I know. We drop it off because we hate spending our whole Saturday at the laundromat.)
Travel = $192.00
Misc = $54.69

Total = $1,032.86 :scared1:

"Found" money = $389.99 :woohoo:

Total spent = $642.87

Well... at least I now have some idea of what we spend in a month. I guess. I feel like creating a budget for misc expenses, even for groceries, is going to be very difficult for me. We're very inconsistent. When we need food, we buy groceries. When we need a toiletry item, we buy it. I always use as many coupons as possible and buy as many things on sale as possible, but we don't have the storage space to "stock up" like so many on this board do.

Hopefully July will be a light month! At least I know I won't have to buy cat food - this month I bought 2 cases because they were on great sale, so they are set for the next 48 days. :rotfl:

Off to join "No Buy July"...

Edited earlier post to add total from last month and finally realized that once the hockey cheque comes out of the account today, we were $800 over budget :scared1: Holy cow! It can only get better right?

Budget for June: $400;

Week 1 = $185.87 spent; Week 2 = $43.47; Week 3 = $69.00; Week 4 = $213

TOTAL for June $511.34 so $111.34 over but I did have nine $0 days.

I truly need to stick to the $400 a month budget because I have only 13 weeks of unemployment left and still no job and no decision from social security on my disability claim. I am trying to bank 1/2 of every unemployment check so that I have funds to live on once it runs out. So on to July!
