I've been following this thread on and off for the past year! I've had an Excel spreadsheet going and have been doing fine ever since then, but I need to buy a new car - hopefully in June - so I really need to buckle down! My budget here will not include rent, cell phone, gym membership, etc. Here are my goals for the month:

$100 Groceries $84.50 left
$24 Movies (go to $6 movie night every week with friends - have for as long as I can remember...!)
$140 Gas $99 left(most difficult category for me! I drive around 80+ miles round-trip every weekday and my current car is not the best on gas.)
$100 "Going Out"

I shopped so much today, I can't even get myself to gather the receipts. I hated doing it too. But tomorrow is hubby's birthday and I needed a gift and took the kids to get him gifts, I had to get the supplies to make him a cheesecake, I had to buy some shirts for me for vacation next week (I am not one to buy clothes for me ever. All I usually wear is tshirts and while that is all I bought, I bought some nicer ts.) And we needed a new grill, went all summer last year without one and hubby's friends are coming over tomorrow for his b-day and grilling was what he so wanted to do so we sprung and got a new one. I probably spent $500 today. Ugg, but, it was all CASH and he will have a very happy b-day tomorrow. :cool1:

Anyway, I will record tomorrow. I am too sleepy.

I'm a newbie, but I have followed the no buy threads for a couple of months. We have a trip coming up in June so I would like to take the next couple of months to save up a little extra. We do our household budget weekly(fri-thurs), so I will plan weekly here(it will be easier on me). I would like to shoot for 10 no buy days for the month. My first week will be 4/2-4/8. Here is the plan for the week:
25 - gas - zero left
125 - groceries/household - zero left
25 - dog
50 - misc - zero left

4/2 - Sams (42.56), Target (12.83), Aldi (17.32), Wal-mart (81.13), DD (5.00)
4/3 - Taco Bell (11.15) I really didn't want to do this, but we were so busy getting ready for Easter
4/4 - Zero Day!!
4/5 - I did some returning today that put some money back into groceries/household and misc, but spent it at Starbucks (6.32), Wal-mart (17.25), Field Trip (2.00), McDs (3.20)
4/6 - gas (25.00), Burger King (5.68)
4/7 - Zero Day!!
4/8 - Zero Day!!

My budget for the week of 4/9-4/15 is:
25 - dog (carried over from last week)
125 - groceries/household
25 - gas
50 - gift
50 - misc

I just found this thread & I love, love, love it! I am going to go back and read March's No Buy thread as well. I hope to post my No Buy goal for the remainder of April tomorrow. Hoping this will help me stock pile some vacation money, pay down debt, and be more mindful of what I'm spending. Thanks to all. :thumbsup2

I'm going to be following you wonderful people as you go through April, you'll inspire me to start my own 'no buy' project for the month of May.

I'm starting to get excited about not spending money! Yesterday I was going to go out and buy my DD a black tutu for our Disney vacation (she's getting a pirate makeover) but I remembered I had a bunch of black tulle in the Halloween decorations. So I was crafty and made her a tutu. It turned out super cute. We even glued gems all over it to make it extra fancy :) Then to make my money saving day even better....I got one of those $5 Walmart shopping cards in the mail! I was so excited. Now I can go buy 3 disposable ponchos and a box of crystal light drink packets for our trip, with hardly any out of pocket expense:yay:.
Today I'm not anticipating any spending so I'm posting early.
Best wishes to all of my "No Buy" Disers!!:cheer2:

Last week I received a windfall of a small amount if money and a doubling of my monthly income from now on. :dance3: Then my sister mentioned the she had received a free dining pin. I have vacationed with her and her family for the past 20 years and this year because of very tight times we were doing three days in Chicago with a $500 budget. Now we are doing 6 nights and 7 days in WDW instead. :woohoo: We are still on a tight budget but it is wonderful to have the opportunity to make some memories. In 2007 I was dx with a incurable, chronic condition that is stealing away my ability to walk, to use my hands and to a minor extent some of my cognitive skills so it is especially important to do it now rather than save for a more deluxe later.
