NJ & Sandy

A lot of Shoprites are closing. Check out their Facebook page for a current list.

Not the ones owned by the Ravitz family (Cherry Hill, Mt. Laurel, and Evesham)

I don't know how the Cherry Hill one will stay open. Many of the employees take NJTransit- train or bus - to get there and that is shut down.

Wegmans is still open!

You and I are close. The ones on Cinnaminson and Delran closed at 8.

I went to the CH Shoprite early this morning- I saw signs stating that they were going to be open until midnight Saturday evening and open early Sunday am- and that was true- it was open prior to the posted 7 am opening time.

I think Bottom Dollar is staying open as well it is my 3rd choice store.

Checking in from Morris county.. Stay safe everyone.

LOL! I just went to the liquor store for some wine and Mike's hard black cherry lemonade.
Then I went next door to Rite Aid and picked up some Reese's peanut butter cups. NOW I'm ready. ;)

I just love those things... but they are dangerous! So easy to drink....

Good luck to everyone in the path and you will be in my thoughts. We are expecting some rain, wind, and snow the next couple of days and that is bad enough.

Stay safe, everyone! My grandmother lives in Pt. Pleasant, luckily she is with my uncle in Pennsylvania. :goodvibes

Wish I had known this before I ran to Delran to get a few things. I ended up going to Bottom Dollar, which is closer anyway.

Small world! I have not gotten to bottom dollar yet, EP or Cinnaminson. My parents have and said they like it better than Aldi's.

Clifton (Passaic county) checking in here. The wind is picking up pretty well already. We are stocked with food, batteries, water, ice, candles, and we have 2 UPS systems to charge phones if needed. We also have plenty of chocolate and wine -- essentials, you know ;)

In all seriousness, please stay safe, everyone. My cousin in Beach Haven had to evacuate through 3 feet of water this morning -- so don't wait to get out if they tell you to go! Your safety is more valuable than your property! :goodvibes

3 feet of water this morning?! Mandatory evacuation?

I went to the market last night and picked up a few things before leaving LBI. About 1pm today I went to Shop Rite in Manahawkin, not really to buy anything, but just to see if it was a madhouse. It was surprisingly calm. Not very crowded. Plenty of cases of water. (They must have gotten a truckload overnight). Plenty of milk. Bread aisle was getting low. The only crowded part was the deli. About 2 dozen people milling around. They were serving number #27. I took a number just to see and it was #58!!! I bought some muffins, chips, and 3 religious candles from the Hispanic section just in case.

Beach Haven here too. I didn't want to leave until this afternoon, but DW was antsy and insisted we leave last night. Looks like she was right for once!! :thumbsup2

Jim

LBIJim, you all stay safe! I'm so worried. The '62 Storm happened before I was born but I have heard of it all my life. Let's have no repeats 60 years later! Ugh. I went to school with the police chief am keep all the rescue people in my thoughts and prayers.

3 feet in town during high tide. Mom & Dad had to come off the island using Atlantic Avenue because the Boulevard (Bay Ave) was flooded.

Mandatory as of 4PM this afternoon. Local news is saying it will be worse than '62. I sure hope not.

Praying for all.
We convinced my Aunt to come here from Breezy Point, NY she finally arrived.

We have been having some strong gusts of wind but no rain.

Another one from Burlington county here....my work in mercer county is already closed for Monday/Tuesday...Im all set and ready to ride out this storm...a little wind here , but thats it so far

Middlesex County here. Wind is picking up now and it's raining. I hope we are ready. Stay safe everyone.

My best friend lives in Marlton and drives a school bus. She was lucky enough to find some batteries.

Stay safe, New Jersey residents! You are in our prayers!

TC :cool1:

I know they are closing the casinos but they're not evacuating are they?

They did evacuate the casinos and the city, however a handful of us stayed back as skeleton crew. Finishing my 16 hour shift soon. Then another 12-16 hours tomorrow. Overtime is a wonderful thing. Going to need it if the ocean makes it three blocks inland to my house. :worried:

You stay safe over there. I'm about eight miles inland and we're having pretty substantial wind gusts and steady rain. The flooding has been pretty widespread...both bay and ocean. Bay Avenue in Somers Point was supposedly under water earlier.

Thanks! You stay safe too. High tide earlier tonight had the ocean all the way up to the dunes in AC. If that storm surge arrives during high tide tomorrow, AC is going to have problems. Good thing my room and office are on higher floors..lol.

My work in Mercer County is closed Mon/Tues also. Do I work with you? :rotfl:
