Just wanted to say hello to my neighbors, please stay safe and let's check in when we can.

Hoping everyone has supplies, stays safe and has no damage.

:grouphug:

You too. We have 3 flashlights and a case of water, and all meals are from the fridge/freezer until we lose power. My downstair fridge/freezer are empty, and I will be freezing containers of water today.

Unfortunately, we will get a lot of damage. Our basement will flood, and we will lose the treadmill, washing, and dryer if the power goes out (and it usually does). Looks like it will be chilly, too. Last year, we sent the kids to the grandparents, and DH and I slept with the dog.

Today I'm cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry!

Jersey shore here. Don't plan on leaving. Live in a high part of town. Have house stocked with emergency supplies and have an escape bag packed in case though.

Currently at work in a call center in Atlantic City. It's hideous today..lol. If I never hear the name "Sandy" again, it'll be too soon.

Be safe, neighbors! :wave2:

Gloucester County, NJ here! We just found out our sump pump is not working, so DH is replacing that today. We are hopefully ready.

Burlington county here. Hopefully, won't lose electric as sump pump won't work. No battery back up. May try to get one at Home Depot Getting laundry caught up

I know they are closing the casinos but they're not evacuating are they?

DS14's high school is already closed. I haven't heard anything about DS9's school yet, but I can't imagine they will be open.

I may be eating A LOT of Halloween candy this week! lol

Is there any way you can move them to the main level? I don't know if that is a possibility or not.

Stay safe everyone. :grouphug: If I were in the same situation, I'd be completely freaking out.

We have everything away from the outside. I will do some grocery shopping tomorrow morning. I am getting ready to put more water bottles in the freezer to keep it full. Worried about ds in south jersey.

Dh already doesn't have school for MOnday and Tuesday

My niece just told me that there are police helping to form gas lines at gas stations, and to help keep the peace. She lives in Toms River (near the shore, for those not familiar with NJ) and apparently people are screaming at each other and really getting stressed in prep for the storm.

Stay safe, everyone!!!!

Bergen here. We underestimated Irene and left in a boat thanks to the fire dept. not making that mistake again. Spent today emptying basement. Good luck everyone!

Stay safe, everyone!!!!

I was born in Toms River and grew up in Beach Haven (LBI). I heard them talking to someone on LBI this morning on NPR. Scary stuff. It's been 60 years since the storm of '62 that was so horrible--please, no repeats of such storms. Praying for my family and friends (DISers) up North!

Monmouth County here. My oldest already has off college Monday and Tuesday. My younger daughter goes to High school out on a peninsula that is being evacuated of anyone living there, so although not official I can't see them being open. Nothing yet on the local schools that the little guy goes to. Stay safe everyone.

Hi Bergen! Bergen here as well!

Just went and bought some powdered baby formula. I don't usually use that but wanted extra back up.
The gas lines are crazy here.
Last month when I bought the Halloween candy I bought everything I don't like so I wouldn't open the bags. Wishing I had a few bags of Kit Kats to ease the worry.

Morris county watching and waiting. Generator ready, wood stocked for woodstove, zip lock bags of water frozen and water stored for flushing. I took down all of my Halloween decorations...no flying witches here. In the midst of this is my grandsons Christening tomorrow. Should be an interesting few days. Be safe everyone, everywhere in Sandy's path.

I'm in Bergen, too.
My husband and brother are both FFs-my brother just posted a picture of his fire department's boat ready to go in the firehouse.

We got the generator out of the box and ready to go. My husband is the fire chief, so he will not be around once this storm hits, its me and the kids alone, and I better figure out how to use it!
Cleared out the backyard, everything in the garage or under the deck, went and got gas yesterday, went to the store this morning at 8-barely anyone in there and shelves were chock full of everything. Now we sit and wait. My son has a football game in Ridgewood tonight, so we're off to that in the calm before the storm..

Do you have a second or third story? I would really consider moving inland. What are the predictions for storm surge? Water is a very, very powerful force.
The elctricity will probably go out along with both land and cellphones. If you get into trouble, you''ll have no way to contact emergency services. I have contacted a meterologist friend to ask about storm surge predictions for the Jersey shore. Hopefully he will e able to get back to me soon and I'll post them.
