okay, i asked about this a while ago, and it seems like a lot of people just had their friends or families who they referred directly call their guide.

i really like my guide, and want to refer another family.
the first family i referred changed their mind and decided to postpone contacting DVC for info, so i still don't know if following this exact procedure works or not.

what happened before was i actually called my guide, who mailed me some referral postcards.
i filled out the postcard, and mailed it to the first family. they were supposed to bring that postcard with them to their DVC tour.

it appears that NJ is the ONLY state which has such weird referral rules.
this is what is on the DVC Member website:

"Currently, you reside in a jurisdiction in which you are unable to submit personal information on any referral. However, a printable Referral Form is available for you to send to any friends and family who are interested in Disney Vacation Club. They simply complete the form and send it directly to us, and we will take care of the rest.

Disney Vacation Club is a vacation ownership product and is therefore subject to the regulatory laws of the state, province, or country in which you reside. You reside in a jurisdiction in which you are not allowed to submit personal information for referrals.

However, a printable referral form is available to send to your friends and relatives who are interested in Disney Vacation Club. They can send it to the address at the bottom of the page, and Disney Vacation Club will contact them directly.
"

have any of you NJ residents actually followed these exact procedures for referrals?
it seems like a lot of NJ residents have just bypassed this rule, and still successfully got their referral credit.

it's just frustrating, i just want to be able to tell the families, "here is my guide's name and phone#, just give them a call and mention i referred you".
but instead we have this paperwork to do. :(

your thoughts/comments please?

my sis in law called this week and they asked how she heard and she gave our name and they put her in touch with my guide who has yet to call her back at this point which kinda pisses me off since i bought 3 contracts from him and referred 5 people who have bought...maybe he is on vacation or something because he has always been very nice to me.........

My brother bought in on his honeymoon, we had NO idea(SIL even dragged her feet about going to WDW at all), when they took the tout he told the salesperson that his sister and bil were owners and that we loved it-that guy took our name and msut have filled out any paperwork because we got the $200.
WE just received a letter thanking uis for referring Mr & Mrs so & so..friends of ours who may be buying when they go in Dec., again we had no idea, they just used our name when the guy they called asked if they knew anyone who had DVC.
So hopefully they buy and we get another credit. :D
My brother and our friend all live in NJ, too, btw.

JVL what your brother did was very important to the referral. If a person doesn't mention a contact the very first time they talk to DVC or ask for info, that's it. No chance of referral. Usually they offer an opening like "how did you hear about us?". This happened with a co-worker who called for info without really talking to me but did give my name when they asked. Unfortunately, Connecticut protects us from any dangers of real estate fraud by not allowing us to participate in any rewards. ;)
