Anyone know of any nintendo DSi deals out there. I believe they come out April 5th. I've got 2 kids who've been squirelling their money away to buy this and am hoping for the best deal/package available.

It's $169.99 everywhere. I doubt you will see any package deals on it, I am sure most stores will fill their pre-orders and won't have much, if any, to put on the floor. And then Nintendo will say the demand is greater than they thought..and then the thing will be sold out til a small shipment in October and December and then people will be scrounging to get them for Christmas. And then a huge shipment will come the next February. Can you tell I have been playing the video game system game too long? :lmao:

BTW, I would just pre-order at a place you don't have to pay tax. I ordered through amazon.com, I saved about $8 that way. That's as good as it's going to get, I think! BTW, I would NOT NOT NOT wait till April 5 to buy this thing. I think you will miss out if you do that.

Our gamestop has a deal where if you trade your DS lite in then the DSI is $100.This is the best I have seen...

Okay, what is the DSi? My oldest has the DSlite, but was going to get one for the youngest this summer. Should I try for the DSi?

There are some differences. The DSi does not play game boy games. The screnes are a little bit wider, it has 2 cameras (one facing in one out), MP3 player, slot for removable storage (IE memory card). I would def. put my pre-order in if you are getting one.

I'd like to know this answer as well. (And, I'm thinking maybe the DS Lite will be much cheaper once these babies go out in the marketplace!)

A salesperson at EB games said Nintendo was going to work the DSI just like they did the Wii:rotfl2:. So you are right on target with your scenario, sad but true. I've preordered 2 for my boys, I won't be waiting in line for 5 hours again, I did that for the Wii. And I won't be paying the prices from ebay either:lmao:.

Amazon WILL have to charge you tax if they have a warehouse/shipping facility in your state. It's that way with any company. You must not have that. We do...one in at least Lexington

Thanks, that's what i figured. I'd love to order through amazon, but unfortunately they are from my state, so I'd have to pay the 9.0%sales tax through them anyways. I guess I'll just run to toysrus and preorder then today.

Both kids have the original DS, but dd's screen is hanging on by a thread. Not really interested in trading up since the DSi can't play GBA games, both kids want to keep their original DS. Thanks for the tip though. That's a good savings.

Ds got the wii for Christmas the year they came out. I got lucky by ordering it online through costco. I had to pay shipping but it was all worth it in the end when he saw it Christmas morning. I can't even remember all the times dh and i stood in line early in the morning only to miss being able to buy it by 1-2 people.

Amazon is based out of Washington so I'd have to pay tax. Gosh I wish I lived in Oregon, land of no sales tax. 2 DSi at $169 with a 9%sales tax = $30.42 in taxes. Oh well. I guess I better get ready to go out shopping now.

Thanks for your tips everyone. It's been over 2 1/2 years since we bought a game console. I was hoping for discounted items with purchase of the DSi. I just hope I'm not too late to preorder. Wish me luck.

you are right on that one. I was talking to the Game stop guy b/c I wanted to see what they thought of the system. I want one for me. They boys don't have a DS and do want one but I am not getting them one yet yet. LOL Maybe I will go for the used ones (ds light) for the holidays. But they said if you want one, better to pre order it so you are guaranted to get it. They are likely to make not enough so the demand is high. You can pre order just about any where, Target, Walmart, Game stop, prob. best buy also, and a lot of places on line. If you want to on line last look Gamestop.com had it w/ free shipping.

GameCrazy (connected to Hollywood Videos) is where I pre-ordered mine. I am trading in my ds lite, and getting a $90 credit toward its purchase (making it $79).

I was sold on it, when they told me it comes with the internet browser. I wonder if I can use my dsi to checkin for my southwest flights?

We don't have the first DS lite and I was planning on getting them for my 7 year old twins. I had not heard about the DSi, unitl here, so I went to the website to read about. Does anyone who has the DS lite, think this new one would be too much for kids who have never played with the first version?
