We bought our DS4 the NDS for Christmas and he's had it for about 3 1/2 months. He loves playing it, but he has dropped it one too many times that now the top screen is not working correctly (can hardly see to play anything). Does anyone know if these can be fixed or is it just better buy another one? $130 is a bit much for us to spend right now. It's not like in the old days where the game systems didn't cost that much.

Thanks!

You can always try contacting Nintendo. When ds7's DS went out, they replaced it for us.

sorry, I don't know. I got a pink one for christmas, and after a couple of weeks, one of the pixels went out. I returned it to best buy (but it was within their return period. they WILL NOT even let you exchange something past their return period...don't even get me started... )

Anyway, definitely contact Nintendo. These systems shouldn't break that easily...lol

I agree... call Nintendo - we are having our Game Cube replaced for $50 and had the PS2 replaced for $50 as well, by their respective manufacturers.

Nintendo might charge you a fee, but you can opt out of it. The fee covers sending you a replacement right away, then you send your old one, and there is no "fixing" involved.

Nintendo has some of the best customer service I have encountered. DS had a game that would freeze that I contacted them about and they replaced it for free even though we had had it for quite some time (I was honest about that). They have also replaced an SP for us that the charger port went bad on. It was under warranty still, but the process was very easy.

Contact Nintendo...your warranty with the DS is 1 year so you should be covered.

It might be he either cracked the lcd, or jarred a wire loose when he dropped it. I'm sure they will take care of you. Out of all the videogame systems I have owned Nintendo has the best Customer Service and helps alot!

If you contact Nintendo they will send you a UPS pick up tag and they charge you $50 to fix or replace it. My ds had his top screen almost fall off. They sent him a new one. Our neighbors had to do the same thing with 2 of theirs.

Thanks everyone! I'll print out your replies and show it to my DH. We'll most likely be calling Nintendo.

My son's DS almost broke in half, when him and his brother were fighting over who would get to play it. It was still under the 1 year warranty, and after I sent it back in, Nintendo fixed it for free. I thought that there would be a charge, because it was damaged, but they didn't charge me.

I called Nintendo yesterday morning. They will be sending a pre-paid UPS label so we can send it back to be fixed - and it's still under warranty. I'm just glad that my son has a Game Boy Advanced that he can play with in the mean time :)
