I have a silly question that I'm sure I could find the answer to if I scoured my manual, but thought I would ask here first.
I have a D40. There is a small light (no idea what it is called?) that comes on each time I go to take a picture. I'm not talking about the flash. Is it possible to turn it off???? Not only did it make it impossible for me to shoot at WDW in dark rides b/c it was still lighting up and I didn't want to ruin other people's experience, but it also lets my dd know when I'm about to shoot and she always makes faces or covers her face.
I'm not sure if I can turn it off or not, anyone know???

It just said AF assist and I never realized that was the light! Will turning this off change anything for me when taking shots? Will it make it harder for AF to work??
