Well, I don't buy Nike, but if I did, I wouldn't be any longer:

NEW YORK (AP)—Michael Vick(notes) is back with Nike more than two years after the company severed ties over the quarterback’s involvement in a dogfighting ring.

The managing director of the agency that represents Vick announced the deal Wednesday while participating on a panel at the Sports Sponsorship Symposium. Michael Principe of BEST referred questions to Vick’s agent, Joel Segal, who said:

“Mike has a longstanding great relationship with Nike and he looks forward to continue in that relationship.”

Segal would not reveal terms of the agreement.

“Mike has had a great relationship with Nike and is excited to be part of the Nike team again,” Segal said.

The deal is the latest step forward for Vick as he seeks to rehabilitate his career and his image after serving 18 months in federal prison. On Sunday, Vick played his first regular-season game since December 2006.

I'm already anti-Nike because of their sweatshop practices. This only adds to that.

No Nikes for me either.

I don't care how much he tries to rehabilitate his image, he's always going to be the guy who ultimately represents the horrible cruelty that is dogfighting. Every time I look at a picture of him (which is often now that he's in Philly), all I can think of is those poor female dogs strapped into rape racks and having their teeth yanked out so they wouldn't be able to fight off the male dogs. It still makes me ill. :guilty:

For me, it really bothers me that the Eagles signed him, as I am from Philly. But at least you could say that Vick has a skill that someone really needs and therefor they gave him a second chance. Not many folks can play QB in the NFL ( and quite frankly, Vick is more exciting than good, and who knows if he can play at all anymore? )

But why Nike? There are hundreds of pro athletes that can endorse Nike products. They don't need a scumbag like him to endorse stuff. Why bring in a mediocre QB, with a criminal record? There is no need for it.

Not OK with me either. It's one thing to let him go back to work, so to speak. I'm not crazy about it but I can live with it.

But to have him representing their brand--as if there was supposed to be something positive about him that people would want to emulate--that's where I draw the line. Yuck.

I agree. There are so many athletes out there that are good family men who abide by the law, and don't have endorsement deals. Shame on Nike. They missed a golden opportunity to chose a role model instead of the very model of cruelty.

I don't care. I buy what I want and not because some athlete is endorsing it. I DID ask my son to quit being such a pro-Kanye guy when Kanye disrespected Taylor Swift but I didn't say 'we're not buying any more Kanye', I said, "Kanye is an addict and he's really acting out - don't emulate him." We've had the same talk about Vick. If Nike has the hoops shoes my son wants, I'm buying them.

If this is true I won't buy another Nike thing ever. If I can't beleive in the people behind the product, the product is not worth it to me. And appearly they must not care for the heath and wellfare of other living creatures, so as much as I know they could care less, goodbye!

No disrespect here. I would not have guessed this about you at all. Though we are polar opposites on many fronts, I would have guessed that your ( what word works best ) "hippiness" would have you firmly against this and Vick....

No where in the story cited by the OP does it say that their relationship is anything more than that he will get free shoes, just like practically every other NFL player.

Time to resume my pro-Vick opinion. Even if this is not true, if he can market Nike again, he deserves it.

It's not true. I found this denial from Nike:

If it were true I would NEVER shop with them again!

Glad it's not true

That's cool. I'm the opposite. I shop with my values. If some one is a murderer, I'm not about to support them with my dollars. If a store has racist policies and unfair labor practices. No way in heck, am I going to support them continuing these policies.
