Which app do you prefer to use during training?

I got an iPhone over the weekend and downloaded the MapmyRun and Nike+GPS app. I did a run yesterday half on the Nike the other half on the Map my run and I see plusses and minuses for both. Which app do you use and why?

I am using RunKeeper and a C25K app. It is been about three weeks and I am loving them both.

I use mapmyrun for lots of things but not for tracking location during a run. For the iphone I use RunKeeper, also.

It has a great benefit of allowing folks to watch where you are online - live.

I've tried lots of different apps and Runkeeper is my favorite too. I also run Runmeter in the background because it reads my friends' facebook comments to me while I'm running, and it's very fun--today they did a group limerick (I have awesome FB friends). I'm using Runkeeper because it has great graphs and records my heart rate via a monitor and an ANT+ receiver. The display for heart rate could be better though.

I tried RunKeeper last night. I love that it tells you how you are doing in regards to your target pace. I like knowing if I'm on target or behind. I don't like not having iPod control though. I suppose if I only put songs I want to listen to on a playlist I won't need to worry about that though. I think I'm going to stick with RunKeeper. I wish I could get that lady to talk a little faster. lol

That is one of the other reasons I chose RK

You have POD control - can't remember exactly but I think you sleep the phone with the button on top then touch the screen and the pod controls show up. You will want to put the screen to sleep on the run to save battery.

Also, you will want to turn the 3G and WIFI antennae off during your run. You phone will still operate with the cell only antenna on.

I know how to turn off the WiFi but not the 3G. Guess I'll have to look that one up. :) Thanks for the info.

From Settings....

...General

.........Network

..................Enable 3G

I do not have that. I have a cellular data though. I'm thinking it is the same thing because I turned it off, still had a cell signal but the 3G was gone.

I agree that it would be nice to have a "skip song" and a "shuffle" button from within RK. However, you can use voice control to control the music while the app is running. If you have the original iphone headphones or an aftermarket mic/button headphone set, you can just hold down the button until you get the voice control tone and then say "shuffle on" or "play playlist running1" or "next song." Of course voice control is about as good as VR is generally these days, so I occasionally call random people whose names sound too much like "shuffle." You know, like "Dwight." :) Cate

Another vote for RunKeeper.

They've got a really nice app that's being continually improved. From my understanding, the iPhone version has some annouced cues/stats and other features not available to us Android users (current interval average pace, for one). We get BlueTooth integration to Polar HRMs though. :)

I also tie in my Withings scale to my RunKeeper account and utilize their FitnessClasses for training.

I used RunKeeper over the weekend and I love it! Sucks taht I bought Mapmyrun+ and Nike+GPS already. Oh, well lesson learned. :)

YEAH!!! :yay: I paid for Nike+ too, but I could never get it to work right. I just love RunKeeper. :) I am TMcDwyer if you want to join my Street Team. :woohoo:
