Anyone else have these annoying nighttime "freak out sessions" as I like to call them?

For the past couple of nights I start flailing around in bed and have been hitting my husband, last night it was in the face! He wasn't happy with me, but understands that I can't help it. Sometimes I wake up terrified and don't know why.
My Primary Care Dr. says it's pent up anxieties from the day, but when I go to bed, I never feel anxious. My father is very sick and I just started a new business. I'm assuming these are the things I think about in my sleep. I feel like I'm the only one with these night terrors, anyone else feel like me?

LOL - it wasn't funny at the time, but my DH has done this in the past. He'd pop up (yet still be sleeping)about 1 in the AM, and shake me to wake up because we missed the alarm. It used to scare the cr*p out of me and i'd yell at him to wake up and he'd finally wake up and wonder what was going on.

I believe in his case it was stress with work because it was obvious he was worrying about it in his sleep.

He did it 3 times in one week about a year ago and I told him if he did it again we'd go to a sleep specialist. Luckilly it hasn't happened anymore.

DH does it too and has done it since he was a child. He starts screaming "help" over and over and "don't." He won't stop until you wake him up and he is really hard to wake up. When you do wake him, he is shaking like a leaf.

I think DD3 will have them too. She talks in her sleep and often says "don't" and "stop." I have to wake her up too so she'll quiet down.

I have done this all my life, but even more lately with the worries of having kids. They just did a question on this on Dr Phil, but I didn't get to watch it clearly. He said the same as your Dr, and said something about drawing pictures (I can post again after I watch or you can check drphil.com) Usually the solution is to journal or do something about your worries before sleep.

I find that when I finally try and put a huge problem to rest during the day, it will come up in my dreams. (there's no escape:tongue: )

Here's a strange thing...I had night terrors off and on for 2 yrs and I would wake up in a panic that I hadn't given one of the kids their medication. None of them were on anything at the time, now my DD11 is on long term medication and I haven't had the dream since.
