Hello,

We are heading to poly concierge for FT pkg in Aug and are flying down the day before from ny, getting in about 11:30 am. I need some help from you experts (this board is great!!). Anyone else with ideas for the day before? I have a AAA rate booked at port orleans RS (with the fishing/pool seems like there's plenty to do). I see the teachers rate at the dolphin is about the same price, and there I could walk over to the Boardwalk. I picked the PO to try out a moderate and it looks nice. Any thoughts? (I was going to make PS for california grill and watch the fireworks but there won't be fireworks that night).

CRO said that they have a van that will take me and my luggage from Riverside to Poly the next morning? Has anyone used this? Is there a cab option? Where do I get my park hoppers? Do I need to actually go to the poly in the morning to check in and pick them up? Or can they check me in at the port orleans and send over my luggage?

All thoughts, ideas and suggestions will be very much appreciated!

Missy

I stayed at the POFQ about 3 years ago. Seems like you could explore the hotel, relax, go to the pool. I think you can take a boat to Downtown Disney from there as well which is fun and different. I don't see how you could go wrong at either place...but I've never visited the Boardwalk.

I'd think if your FT package starts with the Poly that you'd get your hopper passes when you check in there the next morning.

Have a great trip!

I have never heard of them transporting resort guests in a van from resort to resort. You might want to double check on this.

They will transfer your luggage but I thought that transportation to the resort was up to you.

If you're checking into the Poly for your FT package you actually have to check in at the Poly. Your UPH's that are part of the package will probably be coded right into your room key.

You will have to check in to whatever hotel you decide to stay at for one night and then check in to the Poly for your FT package. Keep in mind that your room may not be ready until later in the afternoon so you may need to plan on doing something. They should be able to make sure your UPH's work once you arrive at the Poly so you can hit the parks if you have to wait for your room.

We are coming in the day before our FTP at WL begins. We decided to check in at WL and not go through the move hassle. We were told that we would have to "check in" twice; both on the first day and on the first day of our FTP to get our UHPs.

Floridafam is right about the luggage transfer versus the people transfer. It's not hard to get from resort to resort. If you choose a taxi, you'll have to pay for that.

Thanks for all the info. It looks like we have to go back to the poly to check in before we can get started in the parks the next day. I will call back to ask, but I feel that you are all right and that there is no van service (I was surprised when they said it, but it sounded good). Does anyone know how much a cab costs? Has anyone actually done this (left one hotel, check into another early - leave the luggage and get going?)

It is just me and my husband - we are in our 30s (I have not been there in over 10 years and my husband in over 20 years). I like the idea about the boat ride to downtown disney (thanks!).

If I can find a discount, maybe we could even stay at the poly or cr the night before, but the room only rates that I found seemed very high. WL with AAA discount was $189 (which was not bad - but I still have to figure out how to get to the poly) but with the $60 less for PORS, we could have a nice dinner.

All thoughts, suggestions and help from the experts on this board are appreciated. Thanks again,

Missy

If I were you, I wouldn't bother with a taxi. Take the Disney bus to the MK and hop on the monorail. It will take you to the Poly for check in. This should be easily done prior to the Parks opening.

Sandi, that is correct about having to check in twice. Just call WDW a few days ahead to make sure that you will have the same room for both stays. We did the same thing in Aug. First 3 days on a silver plan and then 5 additional days resort only. They made us check out, and then check in again. It wasn't really a problem, just a little wasted time.
Also, it is my understanding that WDW will transfer bags to another resort, just not bodies!LOL

We were not expecting any service from POR to the BCV in November when we stayed the 1st night there. We saved $300 last year by flying out Friday night instead of Sat Morning. POR had a really good rate so we tried it!

In the morning we called for our luggage to be picked up and we went to check out. We were planning to take the bus to MGM and then take the boat to the BCV, but they offered to drive us and our stuff over! We were thrilled! I don't know if this is a POR thing or if we just got lucky!

We quickly checked in a BCV and ate breakfast at Cape May! We were VERY happy with the CMs at POR. They were all very nice and seemed to make the extra effort. We were only there one night but we got the van service, free Mickey crazy straws, and free extra drinks.
