Hey everyone,
I know that the Nickelodeon Family Suites on property is not a Disney Resort but I would like to hear from anyone who has stayed there. We just booked a suite there and would like info!!! I'm really curious about it. Thanks!!

We stayed there 2 times, the last time being April '04 before it was switched over to Nick. We are going back this April and looked into staying there again, but decided to stay on-site at a mod for LESS!! Anyway, the Holiday Inn is nice, but HUGE! The pools were fun and the food was good. When we were there the breakfast buffet was free, but it's now $9.95 for each adult and kids eat free with any paying adult for any meals there. The rooms were nice, but nothing extraordinary. We had issues the first time we stayed there and guest services were awesome! Have fun and enjoy!! :)

I've stayed there three times with a discount through my husband's company (before it was Nickolodeon). The place is huge but it was fun. The suites are nice - nothing spectacular. The pools were great and I have heard they are even better now that they've done them over. I think you will have a great time!

We stayed and loved it. It was nice for the girls to be able to watch cartoons in their room, husband watch his shows in our bedroom and me watch hgtv in the living room! But honestly, most time was spent @ the pool. Our girls are hooked and refuse to stay anywhere else. Planning on going back in June ! :sunny:

My DBil, DSIL, 3 kids & FIL stayed there spring break '05--so there is no comparison to what it must be now, as it was undergoing sweeping renovations--
they did think(& DH & I agreed with them) that the suite was too cramped for their party--perhaps this could have been remedied by Dan & Linda taking the fold out sofa & giving DFIL the master bedrm
DBIL & DSIL like to go out of an evening & return late--it was a real hassle because the pull out is in the way of the door & left little room to get around
Saw a lot of Sponge Bob & Patrick, which was cool-
Editing to add: don't know where you've stayed in the past, but for comparison, there is actually more space in a DVC 1 bdrm @ OKW & full size kitchen--DSIL said she thought the pics @ HI Nick looked as if the rooms were more spacious than they turned out to be. They liked the breakfast but found the shuttles not as frequent as they'd like--but DBIL & family tend to be on the disorganized side ;) , fyi

We stayed there when it was still called the Holiday Inn Family Suites.

Our stay was very enjoyable and if you have children it is ideal, we have had a look round since the renovation and the theming is really good.

The pool area in particular is great and perfect for the kids.

Just wanted to know if you think this is on Disney property in the Hotel Plaza. By your post it appears that's what you think. This hotel is not on Disney property anywhere. It's not too far, but it's not on property.

This has been our hotel of choice for our last few trips. We get it free with priority club points but unfortunately, HI raised the point levels since its now Nick ..So this trip we are staying at Hol Inn Express for a feww nights (10000 pts per night) and then just 2 nights at HIFS (now up to 27500 pts per night) we haven't been there since it changed over to Nick, but we loved the "old" hotel. I felt there is plenty of room. And as a previous poster said it is not ON SITE but it still is only about a 10 min drive to most parks not any further than some on site hotels. We can't wait to see the new changes. With the points we are saving by staying at the HIEX instead of all week at HIFS we can get our rental car and Sea World tickets for free to (we love priority club!!_DH is a business traveller and stays at HI about 3-4 nights a week every week) I think you will enjoy the hotel...The only "beef" I have is that the buffet (breakfast) used to be free (alot of variety) and now they charge but we are just going to eat in our room-it will be cheaper and quicker anyways. We may do one character bf but not sure...we usually only do one character meal per trip at Chef Mickeys (we prefer not to have to spend $100 for every meal- eat lite at the parks and then off site for dinner) but since it Dora and Spongebob, we may do this one this year...We'll see when we get there... Enjoy the hotel...they have alot to offer!!

I need help too. We are going to Disney/Universal over Easter. We are staying most of our trip at Pop Century (paying $100 per night). I would like to stay at the Nick Hotel for one night but it will cost a $300 per night. My husband thinks I am crazy for wanting to do this. I think my kids (11 and 9) will think the place is really cool. Could someone please justify us staying here.......would it be possible to go spend the day there without being a guest?? Could you do the night shows?? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
I loved the hotel and can't wait to go back.....but $300.00 a night I wouldn't pay. Keep checking I can't believe that you can't get it for less. What are your dates you are looking at?

$300 for one night, no way would I pay that - we liked it there but not that much.

We have returned there when we were not actually staying there, you can walk around freely - however, although there is no gate security they do give you a pass for your vehicle, obviously you will not have this.....

We asked at reception and just walked around for a short while, we never jumped in the pool or visited the restaurants etc

Ok, wait.....you were able to get in and freely walk around?

We were in Orlando last week and decided to go check out the hotel even though we weren't staying there.

We got to the security gate and when we told the lady what we wanted to do she LAUGHED at us rudely and said, "You can't just come here and wander around. We don't let people do that. That would be a security nightmare!"

And she would NOT let us in. I explained to her that we often check out other hotels for future stays and I didn't understand why it was such a problem. She laughed again!

I was so upset and turned off that I will never opt for this hotel.

Yes we were, it was just as the renovation was finishing , we spoke to reservation and had a walk around the pool area, spent about 30 minutes in total.
Maybe we were just lucky. :confused3

The main reason we went was because it was still called the Holiday Inn Family Suites when we stayed there, and we wanted to check out the new layout.

$375 plus tax if you go through Dreams Unlimited for one night. If you try to book through Holiday Inn you have to reserve a room for 3 nights minimum. Our first night will be Easter Sunday 4/16. Would a Disney waterpark be better than what they have to offer here. I have extra waterpark passes that I could use and stay at Pop one more night. What exciting things would be at Nick Hotel for a 11 & 9 yearold that they won't get at IOA/US.

We went this past November 2005 and we were not pleased. The room was ok as far as cleanliness, but the TV stand in the living room area was rusting and huge flakes of paint chipping off. The lamp in the boys room was broken with exposed wires hanging and broken light bulb on the floor. When I called the front desk they sent soem up to "fix" it ha ha he brought duct tape with him! I told him to just remove the lamp. The food for us was less than ok. The charecter breakfast was more expensive than chef mickeys, and did NOT compare to chef mickeys. Most of the charecters we saw like spongebob, patrick, dora, wanda and cosmo were a little on the grungy side especially spongebob. The first night we were there we saw spongebob in the food court and he was downright filthy!! I took my youngest DS who is 3 to see him (he LOVES spongebob) we got pushed aside by two bigger boys who's father watched on and laughed as these two kids literally beat the tar out of poor spongebob! They almost brought him down! I kid you not they had him almost on one knee!! And their father stood there laughing! :sad2: By this point his handler finally pulled her self away from a conversation she was having with someone and saved him. :rolleyes2 The only thing nice was the pools the kids really enjoyed them. But they were not worth 291.00 a night!! We were only there 3 nights then we moved to the Boardwalk and let me tell you when we pulled up at the boardwalk I wanted to cry with RELIEF!! :p IMHO if you are used to staying at Disney you might not be happy with Nickhotel. We only stayed there because we wanted to do Universal and Seaworld, next time we go there (which will be a long time) we will probably stay at universal. :rotfl: Good luck with whatever you decide and enjoy your vacation!

We were just there Sunday night. No, you cannot come onto the property unless you are a registered guest. The entire hotel is now gated, you must use your room key to open the gates. At check-in, you are given lime green wrist bands that everyone must wear at all times. You must sign a paper that says that you will not bring any unregistered guests onto the property. We were only staying our last night here, and my husband was laughing at the number of papers and disclaimers I had to sign...it was like buying a house! (There was a paper releasing the hotel of bunk bed injuries, a paper where you agree to the bunk bed rules, the paper on not bringing in other people, etc.) I think that the Nick Hotel is only worth the money (and not $300!) if you plan on treating it like an attraction in itself and spend your time there. There are many pool and evening activities all day long. I don't think it would be worth it just to sleep there and then go to the parks all day.

I'm not sure why this is so expensive. We just booked last week for $168.00/nt, which to us, was cheaper than staying on-property because on-property we would have had to get 2 rooms together so it doubled the price. Anyway, the 2 br suites with 2 rooms and a pull-out sofa in the living room was only $189 regular price as of last week. I'm not sure where the $300/nt is coming in...unless they raised their rates as of last week.....

Count us in as another family that stayed there when it was HIFS. We never liked the food there but filled up on the dry cereal and bagels each morning before heading to parks, it was free to us at the time so it was nice little perk. I can’t believe they are charging for it now, hopefully they increased not only the price but also the quality of the food thy serve. My guys wore disappointed initially when they found out that we wore not going to say there on our last trip but got over it fairly quickly once they realized we were going to be staying at Disney. One day while in Orlando we happen to drive by the hotel and my guys didn’t recognize it initially I had to point out the Marriott to them in order for them to believe me it was the same place. We also couldn’t believe how many cards wore there basing on the prices of the rooms we saw for our time frame. Our friends are heading there this spring planed on staying there initially but decided to switch to Deluxe at Disney instead based on the price they wore quoted.

The upside of it for us was that it “forced” us to stay on site for the first time and it made us want to only stay on site from now on.

We have reservations here for April 2-7 and after reading all of these descriptions, I am not so sure we shouldn't just rent a pool home instead. My major concerns are: Price (we are paying $200 a night WHICH INCLUDES the 20% off best flex rate discount--this was the best price we could get), food, and cleanliness. Someone convince me to keep the reservations. I just checked the website for nickhotel and the prices they are showing now are from $260 a night for advance purchase to $325 for the Best Flex Rate!!! OMG!!! There is NO WAY I would pay that...Someone convince me to keep this reservation, please! My kids really do want to go, but I am really wondering if it is worth it??
