Nick Hotel Questions

Abbeysmon - how did you find the travelzoo deal? I was looking on their site but couldn't find anything. If they have it, is it one of those hidden deals where you have to click on "Orlando Resort" or whatever to see which hotel it is, or do they throw the name right out there on the Orlando hotel page?

It was listed in an email that I get every week or so.. they list the top 10 or 20 deals of the week. It mentioned the Nick Hotel specifically... There is usually someone on this board that posts the list once they get it as well.

We just back yesterday after 3 nights at the Nick Hotel. It was very nice and the kids loved it. As an added bonus, we got $50 in food vouchers per day for each day of our stay. That was very nice and completely unexpected. We did 2 lunches, a dinner buffet and a breakfast buffet with our vouchers.

We will definitely be back.

Also even if you do not do a character meal you can meet lots of them. They are usually always out in the mall area between certain times maybe like 1-3?
Last visit the kids met Spongebob, Squidward, Dors, Diego, Blue, and some other one I can not think of now! But they were thrilled at seeing them!

Keep in mind that I only paid $114 a night. For the holiday weekend, we would have spent $125 more to stay in a moderate hotel over the 3 nights, which is why we tried Nick in the first place.

It was very clean. It was exciting for the kids to be there (moreso than any of the Disney hotels that we have stayed at). The pool way WAYYYYY more exciting than any of the Disney pools. There were characters available at the mall for pictures/autographs. Nice arcade and food court area.

It wasn't dirty. When we had a problem with our PS2, they came with a new one immediately. When we needed more pillows, they were there within 10 minutes.

We are very picky and we really had few complaints about our stay.

Having to wear the wristbands the entire time was a bit annoying, though.

I would say to go for it.

We are staying 2 nights in August - have a Spongebob room reserved as all 3 kids love Spongebob. I received an email - originally booked at $209 a night w/AAA rates, change date by 2 days and it went to $215.00 - just received an email from the hotel and I got it down to $155.67 a night. But with tax and that lovely resort fee we are at $405.80 for the 2 nights - better than the $600 we were planning on. This was splurge for us - we are staying in Disney for cheaper but we want to try the Hotel. We can't wait!

What kind of deal did you get? We are looking at staying 1 Friday night last night in July and when I just priced it on Expedia, it was $239 with $61 in taxes and other fees for a total of $302. A little high. We would really like to stay here, but for <$200 for a kid suite. We just want to stay one night. Any suggestions? Is Travelzoo the best deal you have seen?

I just want to mention as i put a post on another board that when you call for a reservation you will most likely get the highest rate. I called and got a rate of $215 (with tax & resort fee would be $260). I asked if there was a better rate reservationist came back with rate of $160 (including tax & fee would be $200). I asked a final time is that the best possible rate she could give me and then gave me a rate of $115 per night for a two bedroom bunk suite for August (including tax & fee would be $160 total). I will take that price any day. There is always room for bargaining as you can see.

I was going to book a room here, my 6 year old loves sponge bob, but the price was crazy. I haven't tried calling them and chewing them down, but I think we will just go to Cocoa Beach instead.

Does anyone have any opinions on Cocoa beach? I'm probably spelling it wrong, off to google.

I fully agree to call back if you did not get a great rate. In fact my hubby went right to the reservation head and flat out said he wanted the cheapest rate and knew they could go lower. We got 149 per night and 50 dollar food credit per day. We are going in less than 2 weeks

I didnt put anything down on the room, i just gave me credit card info which they dont charge anything to it until day of arrival. They have a 3 day before arrival cancellation policy so would have to be cancelled before that time if for any reason we couldnt go, like with many other places.

The biggest bonus was that resort fees and taxes are all included so there's no additional fees once we arrive. Just thought I'd spread the word on a great deal.

Wow!! That is a great deal!! Thanks for posting!! I checked it out, but I think since we are a family of 5, and we need the 2 bdrm kidsuite, and are getting the 50.00/day food credit, it works out a "little" better to leave as is for us. For 4 nights at Nick we are paying $828 incl all taxes and fees and then we get the food credit. Which is still more than I want to spend...But yeah, if you can do the 1 bdrm for 5 nights and that includes the Seaworld/Aquatica tix, that is awesome!! I was wishing we could get it for 700.00, would've saved a ton!!

when i had inquired last summer about rates, the reservationist actually told me that if i booked and better rates or offers came out that they would go with the better offer. She told me to check back often for specials. I never did as we didnt go to florida last year. I am happy with the rate i got this year though.

We have it reserved for 5/2/09. The confirmation I was emailed says $19.95 per adult and $10.95 per child 3-12. Call 407-387-5437 x 601 to make a reservation. We did it 2 yrs ago and the buffet was very good w/ made to order omelets and the character interaction was excellent! They even danced a few times while we were there, very cute!!

As far as the shows, I believe you can sign up when you check in. We did not see any last time, but are going to try this time!!

We stayed two nights in Nov08. My twins are 7, and they love it. But 2 nights is enough for me!

Regarding the pool, the waterslides are still very cold, and my kids spent little time in them because of that. But, the pool itself is very warm and toasty (and I'm pretty picky as far as cold water!) A bit cloudy at times...

I don't know if I would spend more than 175, including the resort fee, to stay here in a 2 bedroom. If I did, it would be for no more than 2 nights. We stayed the two nights, were able to spend one full day at the hotel, and then moved somewhere a bit nicer (less motelish, more comfortable beds, and cheaper) for the rest of our vacation.

Me, DH, DD 9 and DS 6 just stayed a weekend at the Nick Hotel and loved it! We stayed February 21 - 23 and it was freezing that weekend!!!

We had never been to Nick before and I was a little hesitant considering the mixed reviews. A great deal from Travelzoo for $74 per night (plus $25 fee) was a great reason to go. Check in was a breeze after the initial excitement from the kids - they didn't know. The kids got candy goodie bags while we checked in. We received $50 in food coupons for the hotel - a nice surprise!

The room was a one-bedroom king with a full kitchen and sofa bed. Let me tell you, it was spotless! This room could have been a model it was so clean and smelled so fresh! We were on the 4th floor and faced the "smaller" pool. Due to the cement part of the wall, we couldn't see the pool from our room but it didn't matter. The king mattress was poor. I did not sleep well. The room was well-stocked and would have been great for an extended stay.

We were concerned because it was so cold that weekend but the pool was very warm! The kids had a blast sliding, swmming and playing.

We signed them up that night for Nick After Dark ($90 for two kids) which is the supervised program for parents to have a night out. The kids got dinner of their choice, saw a live Nick Show, saw Spongebob in 4D (the seats were interactive), received thier own slime and a video game card for use in the gameroom later. We were so pleased with the whole system - we would definitely do this again!!!

We can't wait to return when the weather is warmer!
