Hi everyone. I am thinking about staying on site for an 8 day trip next year. We have always stayed offsite, rented a house and liked that. This time we decided to stay onsite and hope for free dining! We are a family of 5 and are thinking about 2 connecting rooms at a moderate, we would love a deluxe but really want 2 rooms and the prices are soooo much more! Anyway I like nicer hotels, not sure a moderate will be nice enough. For those who have stayed at moderates, what type of hotel are they like?? Are they clean, any newer rooms? I like new, but I know that they are all much older. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We also have 3 little ones, and will have a car. Thanks so much!

The Mansions section of Port Orleans Riverside is nice. I have stayed at 3 of the WDW moderates, and POR is my favorite. The Mansions have very tasteful decor, and our room was relatively spacious and clean. The downside of moderates is that the rooms lack a balcony, but you don't spend a lot of time in the room anyway.

POR is very charming and I think you will feel it's a great value over the Deluxes. The dining is good, the atmosphere/landscaping/pools are wonderful, and there's a boat to DTD that's a fun bonus. I am a Deluxe lover at heart, but I highly recommend POR and can't wait to stay there again.

Coronado is the most deluxe like Mod. Coronado has all the amenities of a deluxe i.e room service, spa, adult lounge..ect.

Coronado is also the only Mod. with queen/king rooms...all the other Mods. have double/king rooms.

If you are looking for the most Deluxe like Mod. you should choose Coronado for your upcoming visit. :flower3:

I'll second the suggestion for Coronado Springs. We're pretty picky people as well, and Coronado has been the best "in-between" resort we've experienced. We don't really want to pay for a deluxe, and Coronado has all of the amenities mentioned by a PP, plus it doesn't share bus service with any other resort, and all of the rooms have recently been refurbished with new beds, decor, etc. To me, Coronado IS a deluxe resort without the interior hallways.

Our 2 favorite mods are Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans French Quarter for 2 very different reasons. CBR is very large and has a real "resort" feel to it, while POFQ is very small and is a great retreat after a day in the parks thanks to it's small size and quiet atmosphere. Given the layout and theme of the hotels in Disney, it's hard to compare them to anything else out there hotel wise. For example, all Moderates offer exterior corridors, which I would NEVER stay in outside of Disney (just a quirk of mine) however, I never think twice about it while there. As far as cleanliness, I don't think you'll find any moderate that's cleaner than another or any Disney resort thats cleaner than another for that matter, We've always found Disney to be nothing but the best in this area, and all others for that matter :).

I agree with everything that was said here, except that our two favorite moderates are POFQ and POR but for the same reasons (plus the fact that we haven't stayed in the other two...yet). And it is so funny that the PP mentioned the outdoor corridors....I too would never in a million years stay in a hotel that had them UNLESS it was Disney. Disney Mousekeeping is one of the best out there and if for some reason you have a problem with them, just call and they will immediately resolve the problem for you, however in all the years that I have been staying at a Disney resort, I have never had any sort of problems with cleanliness whether it be a moderate or Deluxe (not a value girl).

I agree with this.

We are going to stay at Caribbean Beach for our upcoming trip, but based on the OP I would go with Coronado Springs. We stayed there last year and absolutely loved it. The rooms were comfortable, the Dig Site pool and play area was wonderful for the kids, and we all enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the resort. :goodvibes

They also have recently redone all the rooms (new furniture, TVs, and style) so they would look the most new for the OP.

I would have to say CSR since it was just renovated in '09. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms have a more "modern" feel to them (they have queen size beds). The pool area is great with a great slide.

We stayed for a few days at CSR last Fall and loved it. The rooms were great, pool and grounds too. Bus service was consistent. Staff amazing- no problems with the one request we made (for the particular section we wanted to stay in.

Haven't stayed in any other moderate recently, but back in the day (1997 and 1992) we stayed at Dixie Landings (now Riverside?) and CB. Liked them too. But we've liked every place we stayed on property.

You can fit five in most deluxe rooms, and there's always the option of renting DVC points from a member. Don't know how either option fits in your budget, but we love having the villa.

Have a good trip.
