Well this weeks question is a little late but never the less here it is...

I have been collectiong for over 2 years now and like most collectors I have gone after everything I can get my hands on. Only now have I narrowed it down to certain pins... Mt question this week is...

What type of pins do you collect... (and I know one of the first answers... Disney)

I am now going after Comvention type pins... WDCC, WDAC and Disneyana and Special Events. I will also still go after CM Holiday pins. As for the rest of my collection I will use it for traders and other stuff to further this end of my collection.

Well I'm sure everyone knows I collect Villain pins!!!! :D I own ALOT of them! :) I also collect Peter Pan, Artist pins (cuz I'm an artist!), Nightmare Before X-mas and Halloween pins. I also like the spinners like the MSEP spinner and the Epcot event one and some of the B & W Pins.

I gravitate toward DL Attraction pins and Tinkerbell & Megara from Hercules.

I love Small World, so I collect those pins from all parks(I just won one on E***) from DL Paris.

I like dated Holiday pins. I just like pins.:D

Right now I am searching for two of the 20th anniversary WDW pins to complete my set. Otherwise I collect Beauty and the Beast pins and Mickeys. The one thing I do not collect is Poohs! :D

I primarily collect attraction and resort pins from WDW and DL. That said, I still seem to have a lot of LE and CM pins that don't fall into these categories! I also have picked up some attraction pins from TDL.
For my wife, Linda, I collect villain and Sorcerer Mickey pins. We've been collecting Disney pins almost exactly two years now!
Our two kids have an extensive collection of Odyssey of the Mind pins from around the world, which came from over ten years worth of trading at world competitions.

hmmm-the majority of my pins are cinderella or princess pins. the next biggest group are tinkerbell, and then micky and minnie bride and groom type pins. finally I collect the star wars pins for DH and then pins with special meanings from our trips (like hotels we stayed at etc.)

Before reading the previous posts, I thought I collected Cinderella pins from anywhere Disney, but then realized I also crave CM pins, Christmas pins, Tigger pins, and anything connected to the 4th of July/Patriotic pins.

My husband is much more focused. He collects anything shaped like Mickey's head.

I'm very specific with what I collect.

I only collect pins with little pointy things on the back :)

I don't have a particular theme to my wants right now. I am still a newbie though at just a bit over a year. I just collect ones that I like or more exactly, wish for ones I like.

It's so hard to keep to a theme or 2 or 3 when there are so many neat pins .

Here are mine:

Tinker Bell, Peter Pan & Company
Pinocchio & Company
Castles (this collection is out of control there are so many) :(
Mickey Mouse Club
Official Disneyana Convention
Walt & Mickey Pins

Of course I have other pins......TOO MANY other pins. :D

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone made a Pin Pics Group of their favorite sets.........if there wasn't one already??

Dom...we need a Peter Pan Pin Group. :D

I still love almost all pins, although I do have my favorites. It's probably easier to list what I don't save. I don't do Pooh pins (except for the Seasonal Series - they were just too pretty), and I don't do characters (except for Fab 5, Jiminy Cricket and Figment), and I ony do movie anniversary pins, except for Hunchback of Notre Dame - I just love anything Hunchback.

Once upon a time I was not going to collect Tokyo pins, but I'm having such a good time trading with collectors in Japan that I've broken that barrier.

Once upon a time I was not going to collect Cruise pins, but several co-workers went on cruises and brought me back pins (my VP gave me a Mickey Head Starry Nights pin just last week), so I've broken that barrier.

I wasn't going to do the 100 Years of Dreams TDS pins, so I would have the money to pay off the bills from the August Pin Event, but I haven't missed a Saturday yet and have bought one of everything (except the Poohs) plus traders, so I've broken that barrier.

So, as you can see, I have no control. Barriers are falling and my collections keeps growing and growing. But, boy, am I having fun!!

Lauri, I think you've been hanging around Jeff too long! :D

Kathie, sounds like a plan. Although if I include Tink it will be a VERY large group!

These are my pin theme, not in any order:
Fantasia (both 1940 and 2000)
Figment
Maleficent
Hot Air Balloons
Pooh and Friends
Penguins

Dom---You really can't have a Peter Pan Group with out Tink and vice versa. I have the Tink Group covered with the help of karinmac. Check it out. :D

Tinker Bell Pin Group

I, too, have tried to taper my collection and only concentrate on certain "themes". Unfortunately when I see a pin and I like it....I gotta have it. I really start salivating if it is round or has a dangle!!!

My character : Pluto

My major theme Holiday pins ( esp. Christmas)

I have tried to stay away from cruise line pins. If I venture away from WDW I TRY to stay with my theme. Hard to do but I am working on it.

I have been sucked into many a set and still fall into their clutches.

So maybe a 2001 resolution.

1. Pluto pins
2. Holiday pins
3. Every livin' dangle and round pin :D

Holy Grail STILL! 1998 Hometown Holiday Pluto ( see? hits all of my themes!)

Susan

I don't really have a theme either. I just have pins I like.
I can't afford to go for every pin so I am not collecting any pin that says DL, CA,
Tokyo, or Paris. If there is a pin that I really like, and it is from another park other than WDw I try for it if is has no words on it. I loved the DL parade pins, and the Footprints.
I also have one book just for my Mickey pins. A few pages have Mickey and friends, where I have the entire set of a theme, such as the Mosaic set from DL. Another few pages are devoted to Mickey and Minnie. I tried not to collect "HER"
but it looked really funny having Bridegroom Mickey without a Bride.
The next few pages in my book are just Mickey. Mickey heads, Mickey doing something, just all Mickey all the time.
My other books are kind of themed. I have the parks pins divided by park. All the epcot rides and attractions, all the Ak stuff. And at the end of that book I have all the sets by park. Like the 4 parks postcards, the 4 parks 4th of July, etc....
My other books are just a mishmosh of pins that I like, some are divided by theme, some are just put on the "I don't know where else to put them page"
But I do love all of them........ Peggie

Well got you beat. We have been collecting since 1977.
Only pins I am interested are Cast member, Limited Editiions 25 or under, Event Pins, Convention pins only some of those,
Had been on a search for champion pins which I did get but have two traders Winter and Summer.
Also Nightmare before Christmas. Got all of these except for the LE pin of 150.
I do have traders for some of the nightmare pins for anyone who will be in WDW from Oct.24th till the 31st.
I do not trade on line anymore for a lot of good reasons. Will only trade face to face unless it is someone I know expreamly well.
I also have the silver Jail scene and the Poolside Mickey and Sand Breaking pin for trade.
