The NHL Playoffs start tonight. As a die hard Bruins fan I'm liking my chances. But there should be some good match-ups and even some better upsets.
Here's my predictions:
EAST
Bruins over Habs in 6
The Habs may win the high scoring games (like 5-1 or 6-3), but the B's will win the close ones. Thank God there are no shootouts in the playoffs
Rangers over Caps in 7
This has all the makings of a perfect upset. A team that had to back in that has a goalie that either lets up 3+ goals or has a shutout, knocking out a team that has arguably the biggest name in the NHL and is riding a rookie goalie.
Flyers over Sabres in 5 (maybe a sweep)
Sorry Ryan. You're great between the pipes, but Vankek, Pominville and Connelly won't be able to knock down the #1 team in the East.
Lightning over Penguins in 5
There is just way too much firepower in Tampa for Flower and the revamped defense to handle. This is probably the worst draw that the Pens could get.
WEST
Blackhawks over Canucks in 7
This could be the best series in the whole playoffsand the biggest upset. The Canucks are just a non-stop machine. Now match that up with a team that just seams to win (dispite the last week of the season), and you have some serious back and forth hockey.
Sharks over Kings in 5
LA really stepped up after the loss of half of their offense. But to go game after game with perennial President's Cup contenders, will just be too much to over come.
Red Wings over Coyotes in 4
I believe that this match up will boil down to be the most lop-sided series. You put Detroits scoring, defense, experience and veteran leadership against Phoenix and it's not even close.
Predators over Ducks in 5
This is my sentimental pick. I just have a feeling that Rinne will step up his game for this series and shut the door on the Ducks.
Those are my opinions. No better or worse than anyone else's. What do you think of this year's playoffs?
