The NHL Playoffs start tonight. As a die hard Bruins fan I'm liking my chances. But there should be some good match-ups and even some better upsets.

Here's my predictions:

EAST

Bruins over Habs in 6

The Habs may win the high scoring games (like 5-1 or 6-3), but the B's will win the close ones. Thank God there are no shootouts in the playoffs :cool1:

Rangers over Caps in 7

This has all the makings of a perfect upset. A team that had to back in that has a goalie that either lets up 3+ goals or has a shutout, knocking out a team that has arguably the biggest name in the NHL and is riding a rookie goalie.

Flyers over Sabres in 5 (maybe a sweep)

Sorry Ryan. You're great between the pipes, but Vankek, Pominville and Connelly won't be able to knock down the #1 team in the East.

Lightning over Penguins in 5

There is just way too much firepower in Tampa for Flower and the revamped defense to handle. This is probably the worst draw that the Pens could get.

WEST

Blackhawks over Canucks in 7

This could be the best series in the whole playoffsand the biggest upset. The Canucks are just a non-stop machine. Now match that up with a team that just seams to win (dispite the last week of the season), and you have some serious back and forth hockey.

Sharks over Kings in 5

LA really stepped up after the loss of half of their offense. But to go game after game with perennial President's Cup contenders, will just be too much to over come.

Red Wings over Coyotes in 4

I believe that this match up will boil down to be the most lop-sided series. You put Detroits scoring, defense, experience and veteran leadership against Phoenix and it's not even close.

Predators over Ducks in 5

This is my sentimental pick. I just have a feeling that Rinne will step up his game for this series and shut the door on the Ducks.

Those are my opinions. No better or worse than anyone else's. What do you think of this year's playoffs?

I cannot wait for the B v Habs!!! It should be, well, major :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We have tix for Game 1 & 5 (home 3), got them as soon as they opened the pre-sale.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

So hit the Fours - then th eGarden - finish at The Harp :rotfl2:

So donning the Lucic shirts and just waiting for tommorrow.

GO HABS GO lol

die hard habs fan here. I'm so amped up for tomorrow night. it feels like it will never be game time.

I'll have to remember to wear my lucky habs undies :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Go Sabres! Although I am a huge Briere fan, and am still not over the fact we let him go, Tyler Ennis is starting to fill the void for me.

Although history has tried over and over and over again to teach Buffalo fans not to get our hopes up, I am still holding out for the Sabres...:cheer2:

It's a vicious cycle too! When the Bills lose we say "oh well maybe next year, and at least we still have the Sabres to look forward to", and then when hockey is over we say "oh well maybe next year, and at least we have the Bills to look forward to". :rotfl: Gotta love Buffalo!

So true!! :rotfl:

Yes, but at least you know what it is like to watch your team(s) win a championship...we don't even have a really old one to cling to! I do not include the Yankees because although we are huge fans, they are in NYC which is not anywhere near Buffalo! Feel free to start with the Yankee hating...

"...Start with the Yankee hating"?

I haven't STOPPED yet. :rotfl:

I just have 2 words to say to these......

GO SABRES!!!!!

We're Ranger fans. DH has season tickets and was at MSG when they won in '94. He's not as optimistic this year as you are though and thinks the Capitals will take it in 5.

Well since the Leafs are yet again hitting the golf courses early :sad2:

... I'm cheering for the Canucks!!

Life long Blackhawks fan. They're not the team they were last year though it should be fun.

Just by looking at the poll, I'm guessing there aren't too many Ducks or Preds fans out there. But I had hoped that there was at least 1 Estevez or Pacey fan out there to vote for the game.

So far there have been only 3 lower seeds that have won so far. Unfortuneately... 1 of them is the Habs and my Bruins took 1 on the chin.

Congrats to the Habs fans. Game 1 goes to you.

I am here to take my licks. The only excuse I can offer is that the B's hadn't played with so little inspiration since mid-season last year. The Bruins full on bit the shed and need to rise up for Game 2.

Jullien needs to take the leash off of the guys. It's like the scene in Glory Road, when Bobby Joe confronts Coach Haskins. Hey Claude! Let them play their game!
