Ray Rice is a disgusting low life, but I wonder. . . would everyone support the mailman or the guy selling insurance losing his job because he hit his wife?
Should all jobs (and that is what the NFL is, a job) cross over into an employee's personal life?
Hey Luvs,
Every year at my job you have to sign an "ethics" clause. EVERY year.
It covers diverse topics but basically it says that by virtue of your employment you reflect the company in some capacity.
You can't be a child pornagraher and say "well that was after work".
Now, we have some thing call eap (employee assistance program) so you can go to them and say I have X problem (drug, violence, alcohol) and I need help.
They will definitely get you a lot of help, but you better believe if you are arrested for domestic violence or child abuse you are going to be in a bit of a jam with the company.
I've seen guys lose their jobs for having affairs. I've seen guys lose their jobs for pornography. I've seen guys lose their jobs for animal cruelty convictions.
We are a public company, big wigs take their reputation seriously.
Heck, we had a CEO that was looked at funny cause his kid got busted importing drugs back from some where in latin America.
I think it's a byproduct of living in an age where nothing is "private" anymore. before you could be an alcoholic and people were stunned when they found out. same with a child abusers. I found out maybe 30 years after the fact that a little girl I went to elementary school had a dad who was an abuser. when I found out she said, "eliza, didn't you ever notice I never had friends over" and I really didn't.
Not today, today no matter what you do, some one sees and post. especially in a public place
