Next year we're going on vacation during Thanksgiving!

I'm running away from home next Thanksgiving...and maybe THIS Christmas.

We won't be here next year for Thanksgiving, and I am so happy! DH said yesterday morning he wanted to be somewhere warm next year. This is before we got to my brother's house. We arrive and the family drama had already started - my mother was steamed at my SIL and making all kinds of rude comments. Great way to start the holiday season. This confirmed hubby wanting us to be away next year.

We won't be here for family drama next year!!! Woo hoo!!:banana:

I so agree. I was planning to go away this Thanksgiving to Myrtle Beach but had to cancel. Too busy at work to get away. But my husband's family is insane, and I'm so sick of dealing with them. I'm planning a cruise for next year. What's bad is when you and your spouse can't agree on the whole Thanksgiving situation. No matter what these people do to us, he keeps going back for more, and I'm just done with them. :headache: Oh, the stories I could tell ....

The only way we could get out of this without a huge amount of grief is if we are out of town, so I'm already planning a trip for next year. Hopefully we can go to WDW, but if we can't swing that, any place at least 3 hours away will do!

We have been known to stay home, and to hide the cars in a field across the road behind their big round hay bales, so that DH's family wouldn't know we were home. Right after his sister moved down here, they came over to visit us every day. Yes, every single evening, we had company. SIL and her husband are retired, and thought we'd like nothing better after a day of work than to have them come over to talk about nothing for hours and hours every night.

My parents are both deceased, and my sister doesn't come home for Thanksgiving. My family does things the day after Thanksgiving at my aunt's, but they are reasonable people who wouldn't be all mad if we didn't go. Besides the fact that I just don't enjoy Thanksgiving much without my parents around, the craziness at my husband's family just adds to the reasons to skip the holiday!

Time to start your own tradition - either at home or away..:goodvibes

I like vacationing during Thanksgiving week too. We've gone to wdw three times during that week and love it. It does get crowded at the end of the week (we go from the Sat. before to the Sat after).

I would like to go to the mountains next year.
