Next Food Network Star

I watched it and liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I loved the whimsicalness(?... whimsicality? LOL) of her opening. Reminded me of a scrapbook page!

She's adorable, and it's possible I may actually make some of her food.

Great show. We'll be watching for sure. That kale salad is a definite.

I guess I'm going to have to trust that the "massaging" takes away from the horrible bitterness? Uncooked kale is not on my list of delicious foods!

Loved her first show - I can't wait to make those frozen pops!

By the way, many of the "standard" indian spices can be found at World Market, if you have one near you. That's where I buy all of mine (including garam masala, that she used in that episode). They are pretty cheap in the plastic bags - $2-$3.

I'm disappointed, though, that they're not using PP's idea to call Tom's show DISHeveled.

:thumbsup2 Love it!

DW and I always laughed when, during NFNS, they would show "Unemployed Chef" under his name. We thought that would be the perfect title for his show.

:thumbsup2

I really enjoyed her show. She also used an endearment in her pilot, so I don't think it was a big deal. Although I hope as she gets more comfortable, she loses some of the giggle.

Loved the recipes, particularly the "ice cream without an ice maker" one. (Didn't need the "my friends are coming over" conceit; we don't need her to have a reason to cook, other than the show!)

!

Th giggle got on my nerves too so I hope that as she gets more comfortable she loses it.

I also don't like the friends are coming over thing either. I don;t like that artificial reason for a cooking show, Ina does it too and it makes me nuts

Well, at least when Ina does it, the friends do come over and you watch them all eat! ;)

I really like the first show. I can't wait to recreate everything that she made.

Not bad for a first show, I guess, but I quickly got tired of her nervous giggle & constant reminder to viewers that she had friends coming over. So have them in the show then, just like Ina does!

We won't watch for a few months until she's more comfortable in the role.

The food did look very delicious, though, didn't it???

We were laughing about the friends coming over, too. Giada does that a lot as well.

I don't care for the background music; it came and went at will and seemed weird. I also don't care for shows that open with all the dishes you're going to make, and some of the main ingredients in each, first. Giada does that, too. I like to be surprised =)

DH actually thought her show was a lot like Giada's.

Aarti is already working on her Season 2, so I guess that means her show did indeed do well.

Season 2 - LOL. That was one short first season.
Season 1 of the show that the winner of NFNS gets is always the same number of episodes afaik. It is determined before the season begins, as part of the rules of the competition. Given that they don't know who's going to win, nor really have a good idea how good any of the competitors are going to get after going through the competition, it seems reasonable to keep the number of episodes in the Season 1 pretty low.

In the UK, they call it is a "series". Though technically more accurate, it is majorly confusing since we use that word here in the US to mean something different (but related).

I'm ready for the next season of Ten Dollar Dinners with Melissa!!

There seems to be no rules on how many shows make a season... I've seen 3 shows air then a finale. :confused3

I did choke it up and watch one of her shows. I didn't HATE it half as much as I thought I would. :confused3

I wish there was some way to watch past seasons. I'd love to see Guy Fieri work his way up through the ranks.
