Next Food Network Star

I have to disagree with Aarti. She is the only one left that I strongly dislike and will not watch! She needs to lose the flower too!

My husband dislikes her as well. Yet, she consistantly turns out good food week after week. I've had enough of low self esteem issues though.

Eh, crowd favorite may not matter - yes, even though the crowd last week or the week before voted her at the top despite a lousy presentation. Aarti's too perky and Aria's too forced/fake. And don't forget - Breanna was doing GREAT in the competition... right up until the week she was eliminated :lmao: So there's always hope.

Another thing - Aaron (Big Daddy) was WAY too frantic in his first season. He's a lot easier to watch now, in season three. I'm not saying Melissa will grow on you, Robin :teeth: but maybe whoever wins this season won't be as bad as feared? Right now, I would watch any of the remaining men - not because they're men, but because they're entertaining in various ways. And maybe, just maybe, this show will replace "Down Home with the Neelys", at least for a few weeks? Pretty please?

I worry though that if they give another second place contestant their own show people are going to start thinking it will be the norm (even though they didn't do it last seaon) and it will take away from the competition a little.
I wish Adam had continued "Will Work for Food", unless they ran out of ideas; and despite your fear, kwelch, I really wish they'd give Jeffery (Melissa's runner-up) his own show!

LOL, I doubt it. I got the creeps when she showed up on the show!!

Aarti turned me off EARLY with her self esteem issues, which was a major ugh issue with me. It also seemed like a ploy for pity. Turn OFF!:headache:

I loved "Will Work for Food". I'm not sure why they don't have it on anymore. I do love his new show "Kid in a Candy Store". I think Jeffery had the same problem as Adam. He is a great tv personality, but his show concept was a little lacking. I think that if Brad makes it to the final 2 he will have the same issue. Guy is the only winner that I have actually watched, but only Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, not his cooking show.

In general I don't watch too many of the actually cooking shows on FN. I watch more of the travel and competition shows. I think the only cooking shows I watch are Giada, Rachel and Ina. Even then it isn't very often that I watch them.

I think Brad's been my favorite since the start. He's calm in front of the camera and I believe what he's telling me. Aarti drives me crazy. If you don't have confidence in yourself, fake it. And I hate the name of her "show." Would they spell it Aarti Parti?

It drives me crazy how the judges harp on their "point of view" when all they're going to do is change it anyway. The only one I'd actually watch is Brad.

Of those left, I think Aarti is the only one I'd bother watching. She'd offer something unique and insights that we would make great use of. I see Brad trying to go down the road of making food that is simply too rarified for our tastes. He'd have been better off (though perhaps outclassed) competing on Top Chef. Tom could be instructive, but I really think his appearance (which is not much different from my own) makes him unlikely to draw a sufficient audience for that long. Herb has some interesting things to say, but I see this realy dichotomy there between what he wants to do and what he's good at. They just don't match. Aria was our original favorite, but she's really not executing well, and I don't see her winning now.

Well, there's now only a 67% chance I'll watch the new show. I will watch if one wins, I'll probably watch if another wins, I may watch if a third wins... but the fourth remaining competitor is too fake/forced for my tastes. Robin doesn't like Melissa? This person strikes me as even more Melissa-like :lmao:

I agree if the fake smile wins I am not gonna watch too much saccharine very less sugar. I always thought todays elimination would be one of the final two, looked good too without the usual accessory he always has and really blushed at Eva's question. IMHO uncooked potatoes should have lost over soft potato crust.

First time I was sad with who went home. I don't disagree with the choice, but I still will miss the loser. I did love who won that last challange tonight!

I was so disappointed with who went home. I understood why, but thought the other person was more deserving of going home.

Well if by chance Aria (sorry I just gave away one person in the final 4) wins her show won't be names Family Style. I just saw a commercial on FN about a new show about a brother and sister who own a restaurant together and it's called Family Style.

We have a new nickname for the one we called Randy (Tom). He is now the Big Tuna.

Aria is not gonna win, i find her so fake. Tom really hit a home run today! Aria is probably gonna go next Then the other emotional guy. I was rooting for Aarati but now I am rooting for TOm. I wish he would clean up a bit and be a little more polished

I like crunchy :teeth: but the judges didn't. Yes, I find Aria much too fake and forced. I haven't ever said this before, but if she wins I will not be watching her show. This is not the same as "I will never watch 'Next Food Network Star' again, ever" :rotfl2:. She grates on me more than the Neelys, and that's saying a LOT!

Sad about who went home. Wish another, usually inconsistant person would have been let go instead.

Haven't watched yet. I doubt there is anyone on this season who I'd watch consistently. I tivo Melissa and cook almost everythig she cooks. She's changed my entire kitchen and grocery shopping! Last week I saved 72% on my groceries! woohoo!

I think they try to keep one obviously weak contestant until the very end, so that when America votes (they do that on this show, right?) then the "good" person (the one the network wants to win) most likely will.

I wonder how many of the runners-up (and perhaps even the winner) eventually get "repurposed" to populate Food Network's new Cooking Channel.

I bet more than one ;)

I have a feeling, regardless of the winner, that both Brad and Aarti will end up with shows.

I think so too. I love how this is the Next Star but then we do see some of the finalists return. I imagine that even though the judges think that they know what "America" wants they sometimes find out after the fact that "America" liked one of the "fallen".

:thumbsup2:lmao:

:rotfl: I cannot manage the Neely's either. I don't like Aria either. Between Rachel and her giggling, Giada and that humongous smile and Paula's over the top and growing accent I have had it with perky chefs! Bring back teh sara Moulton style of cooking show!

I don't think Aria is actually fakey, but rather I think her general (authentic) demeanor is such that it comes across as fake on camera. I know a lot of people like that - people that come across even in person as fake, even though they're just being themselves.
