Next Food Network Star

So glad she is gone. She reminds me of someone else on TV..wish I could figure out who.

Candace Bergen

Besides Guy F have any of the winners of this show had successful runs on the food network? By successful, I mean a show that actually airs for those of us that work by day and sleep by night (at least before 12:00am). I love Guy but he is becoming oversaturated much like Rachal Ray. I don't care for Melissa or Big Daddy. I know Adam Gertler (sp) was not a winner but at least he has a personality.

I loved Adam and really wanted him to win. Back when I had a Myspace, I friended him. LOL.

Add me to the growing list of people who don't like Brianna. I was bummed Das went home because I enjoyed the eye candy. I liked Serena a lot more this week because she wasn't so all-over-the-place.

Top three for me right now are Herb, Tom, and Aarti. As long as she keeps the ukulele hidden :thumbsup2

Party with the Hardy (Hearty?) Boys - the 'unfair' first season winner because there were two of them against individual Chefs is, as you know, on at 4 or 4:30 AM on a weeknight.
Guy, Season 2, is a huge success.
Lisa (who was brought back for the final competition after it was discover JAS lied about his military record), Season 3, was offered the chance to continue her show after the initial airing but declined to spend time with her kids.
Aaron/Big Daddy's show airs at 1:30 PM Sundays - I think that counts as daytime ;). It's in its third season. Adam Gertler's "Will Work for Food" SHOULD be brought back - in prime time again. That was fun.
Melissa's $10 Meals also airs Sundays, but at noon (again, definitely daytime).

Can't help if you don't like them - that's what's there.

I thought I was the only one who can't stand Brianna. I'd like to strangle Ms. Diva. I don't know who is going to win; no one is a stand out at the moment.

I wish they would either re-run the season with Guy Fieri or put it on DVD. I would love to see how he did throughout the whole thing.

And here's my odd admission -- I facebook-friended Michael from last season. I thought he was personable but didn't have a chance of winning. And he is very nice outside of the show. Someday I have to visit his restaurant. (He's a chef a Chop House in New Rochelle, NY, I believe).

Sounds like she is a good cook. They seem to like her cooking but that attitude. She's going to have to have a miracle of sorts happen to get people to like--who cares about the cooking when you have that type of diva attitude. :headache:

I'm *friends* with Melissa. :goodvibes

Amy... not Lisa. Lisa was the one with the squinty eyes who was a finalist with Adam but lost to Aaron.

Really liked Adam's show. He's FUN. I had NO IDEA that The Hearty Boys was still on.. is it new shows or repeats??

Show airings of past winners: It has always seemed to me that Food Network begins new shows with once or twice a week airings. Usually on Saturday or Sunday morning. Then, after a couple of years buildup, they play them more often during the week. There is a big difference in shows that air primetime and on weekend mornings. I look at the roster and think "I've never heard of these shows".

Yeah, FN has weird showing schedule. When I was hospitalized/recovering, I watched a LOT of FN - including Sunday mornings (I work on Sunday mornings and had no idea what was on!). Realized that is when they show all the "good" stuff. Then they repeat the same old stuff all week long. Weird.

I actually like Melissa, rooted for her that season, and enjoyed her show the few weeks I got to watch Sunday morning TV!

Right. Thanks. Annoying (but different) black hair = same person :umbrella: Seriously, thanks for the correction!

NO idea. I don't remember if I watched it the first time, and I see it rarely enough - and don't pay enough attention - to know if I'm watching the same show over and over and over... :teeth:

^^ I really wanted to like Amy. It didn't work. I'm thinking HB must be repeats. It's gotta be. (Just checked.. it was only on for one season... and the full name of the show was 'Party Line with the Hearty Boys'.)

Anyway, I'm sitting here watching Best Thing I Ever Ate and Adam was on... they listed him as the host of Kid in a Candy Shop, which I never heard of.

Turns out it's a brand new show he's hosting starting July 12th. Can't wait :thumbsup2 Looooooooove him!

So Paul went out! After his "Food Bobby" comment it was obvious he would be booted. They r promoting Aarati a lot. Considering her demo was below par her coming up on top was very fishy.

Not really. Remember, the audience voted on the demo. They weren't using the came criteria the judges do. Aarti is fun to watch... even though she didn't do an effective presentation.

I thought the same thing. They should just give Aarti the win now since they are soooo in love with her. For me, she'll be another Melissa D'Arabian, which equates to another show I will not watch. If I never have to hear the words "Aarti Party" again, I'll be happy.

I like Aarti. I can see her fulfilling a niche on the Food Network. I wish she'd have a little more confidence. If you don't have it in yourself...fake it.

Tom is starting to grow on me. I couldn't stand him in the first couple shows, but now he's at the top of my list.

I love Brad. I know they think he's "dead" when the cameras start, but I find him to be calm. I hate being yelled at while I'm watching a show.

I cannot stand Sorena. We already have Giada, she's just Giada on speed.

ITA on all of your points. I really would like to see a show that highlights indian cooking that I can make at howm and I would stand in a line to buy her paste. I like her.

I like Tom as well, he grew on me too. I would watch a show that Brtad hosted. I might be int eh minority but I do nto watch FN to "connect" with the personalitues. I watch to learn to cook the dishes. Somewhere along the line the producers have decided that viewers are shallow people who need to watch the chefs "taste" food, gush over teh flavor all teh while telling them stories about their lives. I cringe when the chefs insiste on gulping a mouthful of the food, grin and close their eyes oohing and aaaaaaaaing over it. Yuch!

Anyway, if Brianna is the winner it wil be a show I pass over. I doubt I could sit through Serena, I thought that I would watch the healthy guy once in a while but after that yelling testosterone filled mess on the lunch truck I doubt I would now.

Great points, I agree. I liked Tom right away, but that's because he reminds me of a guy I know. But he really shined this week. And he's fun.

I'm not a fan of Herb either. He's all over the place. I gotta admit, I don't find shows with healthy eating as the focus all that interesting. I don't mind when an episode features healthier food, but I'm not going to watch that week after week.

I'm with you about the personality angle--I don't really care what they ate as a kid. Just show me new food, new ways to make old favorites, etc.

I would watch a show that makes cooking Indian Cuisine easy to understand. The problem is can a show be carried by cooking just Indian food.

I would imagine that you could carry a show with just Indian food. Martin Yan was able to have a good run with just Chinese food on Yan Can Cook. The difference is, IMO, that Aarti doesn't have the on-screen personality that someone like Martin Yan has, so the question would be can SHE carry a show just on Indian food.
