News: Wish Elevator Button Changes

Do not and WILL not have a Facebook or Twitter account so I cannot see what the new design is.
However, almost anything will be better than the VERY sensitive elevator buttons that were on the Wish if it changes
the sensitivity!!!!

I hope that cruise ships will start switching to the "Destination Dispatch" system, where you request a floor in the elevator lobby and it directs you to a car, as I think that would reduce things like people trying to squeeze in last minute, a crush of people playing the "which car comes first" game, your back accidentally selecting all floors, and other not-so-wonderful things that happen with an elevator.

The light-up design was cool, but sometimes it was hard to tell if one was actually lit up or not. You can kind of see it in the picture Scott used. I recall a couple of times thinking the deck I needed to go to was already pressed, just to realize it was a trick of the light. The new way makes it much more obvious.

This! Especially since not all of the elevators went to all floors. If you needed to go to a higher floor you were stuck waiting for the elevator that went there (which usually meant passing up several open cars that came while you waited). Doing it this way would alleviate that issue (and make things much simpler!).

Does the picture not show up in the first post for you? Both the old and new designs are there.

We have this system at work and it is fantastic!

Those buttons were terrible. We were in the Wish two weeks ago and all the elevators we were in had the touch buttons. My son brushed up against the panel with his back when the elevator was packed and it lit up every button like “Elf”. Not fun.

Sorry. I just realized my tracking protector in Firefox was blocking it!
Turned it off and I can see it!
All I was seeing was a link to twitter.

It does look like they took out those VERY sensitive buttons and installed normal buttons.
The original buttons looked nice but when all you had to do was wave your hand in front of it
to choose a floor and all floors lit up that was not good! We always ended up stopping at every floor
when the elevator was full and only 3-4 floors were originally selected.

I'm very glad for the change to the buttons but I'd really like for them to have specific call buttons for those elevators that go to the higher floors. We usually ended up giving up, getting into whatever elevator came and walking the rest of the way which was difficult for our friend who had recently had knee surgery. I've never seen a bank of elevators that didn't have different call buttons for elevators that go to different floors from the rest. But at least this is a step in the right direction.
