Weird people on wdwmagic posted today was. Fiscal 2015 ended on September 27th.
The Federal governments fiscal year starts today. Perhaps they were referring to that?

I can promise you it does start October 4th
OK - if that is the case, then Fiscal 2015 didn't end on September 26th.
I guess I assumed it did because that's what others have posted and also that is when our fiscal month ended where I work. They do every few years have to have a fiscal year with 53 weeks in it in order to keep the calendar fairly matching. I tried to look it up on-line and at the Disney Investor site, and couldn't actually find the real date.
Edit: As I think of this it doesn't make sense - didn't they announce the new Disney Spring name at the start of the new fiscal year??
[x Page 45]The Company’s fiscal year ends on the Saturday closest to September 30 and consists of fifty-two weeks with the exception that approximately every six years, we have a fifty-three week year. Fiscal 2015 is a fifty-three week year beginning on September 28, 2014 and ending on October 3, 2015.
I had to do some digging, but this was in the FY14 report

Apparently Tom Sawyer island is the only piece of Disneyland that Walt designed himself.

Some one brought up a good point on wdwmagic about the whole Disneyland isn't a museum thing. If Disney announced tomorrow that instead of sleeping beauty castle it will now be Elsas ice palace. Uproar would be over the top of course. So where do you draw the line of what stays forever and what doesn't?
According to Yahoo finance the fiscal year did end on September 27th

I understand and agree I was just throwing the point out there. I think it's interesting to see where do we actually draw that line. Obviously taking out the castle is beyond that line but what about something like space mountain or maybe even the railroad.I'd suggest that popularity ought to have a lot to do with it. I personally love Tom Sawyer Island at WDW. It's an amazing play area for young kids and it's so peaceful compared to the rest of the park. But the fact "I" love it would not be a reason for it to stay. The truth is it takes up a huge chunk of land (more critical at Disneyland) and most people don't use it.
The fact that people have fond memories of Tom Sawyer or Rivers of America or that Walt built it are emotional arguments rather than rational ones and they do not apply to many (the majority?) of the millions of visitors the park gets. Nothing lasts for ever and ironically change is one of the few constants in life. Better to embrace it and bend with the wind.
The "Elsa's Ice Palace" comparison is a bit of a straw man because the castle is already a popular attraction. Changing it would not gain you room for extra attractions and it's highly debateable if it would noticeably increase the draw of the castle itself.
Pecos Bill's new menu debuted today with lots of praise. The DPB comments section then confirmed Tortuga Tavern will gets menu change coming up soon as well.
I'm impressed with the offering but put off by the pricing. As always.
Want to get some feedback for this thread moving forward. I was looking at possibly creating a new thread every year or something like that. I think this thread is great for sharing smaller news items like refurbs, new menus, photo updates and such. So should we do a news thread every year such as News and Rumor round up 2016 or something along those lines? This thread is well over a year old I think it's for a bit of change so just wanted to see what those who visit think. Thanks in advance.
That's why I was looking at going to a new thread we are 368 pages in. And then with all the upcoming projects it's only going to get bigger. The mods might appreciate a smaller thread. I don't know if they still enforce the 250 page rule. I guess not, since this is over that. Excellent work on the thread. Thanks and keep it up![]()
