For the life of me, I can't figure out why they don't offer to let you "upgrade" to any of the themed bands they sell at all the shops. The baisc ones sell for $12.95 and the themed ones for $19.95. So why not, on the Magicband customization page of the My Disney Experience site, allow guests to to pay the $7 difference and send them one of the themed bands?

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed Morimoto Asia opens in time for our upcoming trip, I'd love to try it!

Me too!! We're going to be there in November so I hope the restaurant stays on schedule. I think @rteetz posted an update about a September opening!

I'm sure Disney did the math. My guess is that they make more of a profit from the many people who end up spending the $20 outright, compared to the larger number of people who would just pay $7 for the upgrade. If you do the math, and assume that the premium ones cost the same amount to make as the regular ones, you then find out that Disney would have to sell approximately (20 - Disney MB Cost) / 7 times as many upgrades as they would outright purchases as they do now. For example, if MBs cost Disney $6 to make, then Disney would have to sell twice as many upgrades at $7 than they would extra magic bands at $20. If they cost $3 to make, then it's about 2.5 times as many.

Are you more than twice as likely to spend $7 to upgrade to a premium band versus spending $20 to have a regular one and a premium one? For our family, we're already likely to all have the premium bands, so Disney would just be losing money on us if they offered us to upgrade for $7 instead.

Anyone know which date this begins? I can see in MVMCP starts on Nov 8, but does the Holiday Wishes begin before it?

Id say it would be around that date

rteetz was talking about the Frozen Holiday Wish and in your question, you said Holiday Wishes. These are actually 2 different things. If you are talking about the FROZEN Holiday Wish, the castle lighting ceremon with Anna, Elsa, & friends and the stage show in front of the castle they do before turning on all the icicle lights on the castle, last year it started on November 5th and ran every night through December 31st and due to popularity, it was actually re-instated on January 4th and ran through January 12th. If you are talking about Holiday wishes, the Holiday themed fire works, those are done during the MVMCP only (normal Wishes is done on non-party nights ) until they open it up to not being a hard ticketed item (when the MVMCP dates are over) and they start running the Holiday parade and fireworks every night until, I think, New Years Eve.

Well, I don't think they could come up with a 6th attraction that ISN'T rumored to be closing.
GMR is almost certainly not closing and isn't represented on the sliders. Seems like a poor marketing choice to me assuming VotLM's end is within two months.

Thank you for the clarification. I see the difference. I was asking about the nightly castle lighting ceremony.
I remember how popular it was and was hoping to be able to catch it this year. Gonna cross my fingers it begins around that same date.❄️

I did not realize that food and wine was expanding into Future World this year. Don't think I like that idea.

Theme Park Tourist, http://www.****************.com/news/20150807/30468/4-confirmed-changes-coming-epcot-end-year?page=1

Though The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is typically held exclusively in the World Showcase, this year’s edition (which is kicking off in just a few weeks) will be expanding for the first time in the event’s 20 year history into Future World. From standard kiosks offering “future”-inspired dishes to demonstrations and other entertainment offerings, there will be quite a lot to explore in Future World, which is definitely an exciting development and something we can’t wait to check out when this year’s event kicks off on September 25th

Though we can only speculate about what the 21st iteration of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will look like, we’d imagine that the 2015 move into Future World will likely be permanent, especially as the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival grows its attendance year over year. Not only does this development provide guests with more items to sip and nibble, but it also solves the guest congestion problem. Last year, lines swelled around the World Showcase, but hopefully the addition of Future World kiosks will help relieve some of the pressure on the World Showcase kiosk locations.
