Yeah, that's what I thought. I agree with skier_pete though. It seems a bit premature to open a second park when HKDL itself isn't a whole experience just yet. Sure, Mystic Manor and Grizzly Gulch are great, but many still consider it a a young/underdeveloped park. The Ironman ride should help with that too.

I want to think that Disney has passed the building cheap era that affected DCA and WDS. If I recall, in both cases the government was pushing Disney to build a second gate, and though both parks are now in much better condition, in the end it resulted in a pretty expensive decision. Then again, in order to avoid Shanghai cannibalizing HK's guests, they need to build a worthy sequel to DL.

My wife was super pissed about this as well. One of the few things she genuinely likes in DHS. Personally, I think it's a nice little filler attraction, but not something that gets me upset by its removal. The key I think is that the park is so weak in other attractions that people get upset by a "learn to draw" attraction leaving - which is essentially something that you could watch on youtube. If they fix this park properly, few will miss a drawing class.
I agree with your wife. This is one of the things I enjoy doing at DHS...not to mention the fact they are losing a bit of Disney history in the process. What an ideal way this was to educate our children and grandchildren on how some of their favorite movies were brought to life before computers...mechanics of drawing do still matter even in the age of computers. The sketch was also a lovely memory of a particular trip to DHS and WDW.

Sources say that the MK money will go towards a frontierland expansion.

They should get rid of Tom Sawyer Island and put an attraction that everyone can enjoy, like the Western Expedition ride. It had great animatronics and looked like an old west version of Pirates. Plus the island doesn't seem safe for children... or even me. What if a crazy old man is naked in the cave just waiting for someone to enter?

I just spit tea all over my laptop. Thanks

I don't mind Tom Sawyers Island, but would love if Western River Expedition actually happened. Taking on Frontierland instead of Tomorrowland is surprising to me though.

Alright, mission accomplished.

Yeah, I'd love to finally get a WRE, but it seems like Disney only wants to build attractions based on cartoons or movies. I can't remember the last time they built an attraction (at MK) that wasn't based on one. I totally agree about Tomorrowland as well. You'd figure that the left side of the park has enough big time attractions. Space Mountain is the only mega ride in Tomorrowland right now, unless you count Buzz.

Hey c'mon! SPOILER ALERT that stuff!

Seriously though, WRE is not going to happen. It was a ride on top of another ride. (Think BTMRR on top of Splash Mountain.) Can't say I would miss Tom Sawyer Island, but I suppose that would be a much bigger project than the money would allow.

These ''A ride on top of another'' type of projects never work out. Remember the Indiana Jones coaster/Jungle Cruise or the Grizzly River Run/Gold Rush mine coaster? I think Western River Expedition was one of those. Making the ride individually could work, but at a smaller scale than it was originally intended.

I agree that Tomorrowland needs another E though. I'd personally get rid of Speedway and build something else in there.
