Some info on Shanghai Disney and how expectations shouldn't be too high.

http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2014/11/why-you-shouldnt-get-too-much-excited.html

It's a fair article. I agree that the project looks bigger than what it will actually be. Sure, there will be some great additions to the Disney experiences, but it won't be as big or impressive as some want to think. However, we have to think that all theme parks usually leave some space for future development. Just look at HKDL. At opening day it had very few rides and it's been adding new attractions slowly.

Regardless I think it will be a very interesting park. I'm really curious about the PotC new ride.

I agree especially mickey avenue because this will be the first magic kingdom type park without a Main Street. This whole parks seems to have a different layout than all of those before it.

We so desperately need some more concept art, official announcements, etc. for Pandora, DHS, Frozen in Maelstrom. Just something. So much is happening but the lulls between big announcements can sometimes be unbearable.

you might have stumbled upon a tactic there...

They are definitely saving some good stuff for D23. I bet we'll get some big updates next summer.

First...you can't have any confidence in your first statement...

Second...what if you don't get any big news A YEAR from now? Reset the dial and predict the same for the next?

To me, the problem is that they were initially too slow to add experiences in the parks and keep up with the merchandise demand. So I think part of the reason they are going overboard now is because their response was so poor at the beginning. Classic case of over-compensation.

Lack of investment in CHEAP product up front and then overcompensation...to be exact.

I'm actually a little surprised they haven't considered moving the 3-5 hour Anna/Elsa M&G to DHS to drive up attendance there.

I do expect that the sing along will depart by the time Frozstrom opens.

Why do you think they want to "drive up attendance" at MGM?

There's is no evidence to that case...
And by this time next year...they'll likely want it emptied by 5 pm to visit mall of America

They had no faith because many movies before it hadn't done what happened in Disney's renaissance in the 90s. Frozen is now a top 5 all time movie. Lion king was the same way never expected it to be the top animated movie of all time but that's what it became. I don't necessarily think lion king was worse they didn't get a ride like frozen is getting.

After mermaid, beauty and the beast, and Aladdin..
Lion king was a 100% bankable slam dunk.

You might be a little young to remember.

But...lion king is not a good movie...actually a really bad story if you're honest. So it didnt relay the momentum to other movies.
And Eisner switched gears to the history/great works in fiction approach...and that bombed.

I didn't define good stuff. I didn't say they are going to announce a new land, nor did I say they are announcing a new theme park or anything like that. I didn't even say I was expecting big news. Good stuff might not have the same meaning for me as it does for you :thumbsup2

I really enjoy behind the scenes, updates on construction, interviews with the imagineers, concept art, history of the attractions, news on what's coming in the next couple of years... And the last time I checked, the purpose of D23 was to present all those things to Disney fans.

Micechat:

It is official, DLP wants to upgrade a dozen of rides for its 25th anniversary in 2017. They want to renew all of the dark rides just like they did with Alice in Wonderland in California.

It includes :

- Star Tours II (official)
- Peter Pan's Flight (official)
- It's a small world! (official)
- Animagique (official)
- Big Thunder Mountain
- Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing / Rivers of the Far West
- Space Mountain
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Les Voyages de Pinocchio
- Snow White Scary Adventures
- Phantom Manor
- Adventure Isle
- Armageddon Special Effects

Moreover, Toy Story Mania is rumored to open in 2017 in Walt Disney Studios Park and a new parade is rumored for the Disneyland Park.

I am not sure that all of the above mentioned rides will be upgraded except for the ones with the "official" mentions. But I am sure that a dozen of rides will be upgraded. Moreover, Starbucks is rumored to arrive in Main Street U.S.A.

Doesn't surprise me and the star tours 2 was official a few weeks ago. I've heard a new version of TSMM is in the works maybe they will get it. DLP needs the help and it's finally getting it.

Toy Story will be the same, it will simply have four tracks for maximum capacity. Something every other TSMM has struggled with across the globe.
