confirmed they have started testing this today

So like explain this for me. So basically they are testing no stand by lines? So like hey you can book a FP for the line and then when there are no more FP no more people can ride or visit? Or maybe im reading this wrong cause that will tick ALOT of people off. I mean that saying you can only do so much a day.

P.S. LOVE the new avatar pic. =)

Thanks for all your info. I hadn't seen it posted anywhere else & hadn't heard/seen that website before. Is this the 1st time Disney has done it for an attraction? Pros/Cons?

When the park opens they let the standby line fill to capacity so whatever that is an hour or two long lets say. Once the line is full They will give guests a paper slip saying return during this window of time and the line "should" be shorter. Reports are they were giving slips for 5-6 PM at 10:30 AM very similar to how legacy FP was run. This does not affect FP+ at all. Disney of course doesn't want guests standing in a 5 hour line they want guests going around and spending money.

Disney does this for jack sparrow in DHS. It works for that I guess but if disney starts branching this out to more attractions it could end up being Fastpass for your standby line. Rumors were they are doing this for Soarin as well but I have not seen any reports on that being confirmed yet only Anna and Elsa.

Its to keep crowds spread out I imagine. So people with FP for the ride or greet still come at their time. People waiting in Stand By just come back later? I guess this is a good idea. I guess you know you go to Sorian and they say hey the wait is 2 hours so come back in 2 more hours. What happens when all of those people coming back in 2 hours come back? They are turned around again? Idk its one of those things they need to work out obviously but it sounds good I guess. At first I thought this was saying you can book a ride and only people who book the ride can ride. I was like THAT is crap......carry on.

The cool thing about it is that ride lines will stay mainly low. Another thing I wonder is....what if you don't want to come back later. Like what if you want to wait in line for Anna and Elsa cause that's your only plan for the day. I mean some people could look at this as Disney telling them what they can and can not do after they just paid big bucks to walk in that gate.

Disney doesn't want you to wait in line all day long they don't make money that way. Disney wants you going experiencing multiple things and heading to the restaurants and gift shops...

That's every business. I guess I still don't FULLY understand this system. (Yea im slow today) So it seems like they want to move where you have to book EVERYTHING and if you don't or if your not at rope drop to get your stand by tickets then well your screwed. Go sit in a gift shop or something. Im probably seeing this wrong.

They just don't want guests standing in a 5 hour line. I think heck if they want to more power to them but disney thinks they ill make more money otherwise. This really is basically legacy FP but for the standby line not much more to it. The ticket give you a 30 minute return window. They did this with Diagon alley on opening week. Once the area reach capacity they closed it and gave guests a ticket with a time window and guests returned then. It worked well for that.

Honestly a 5 year old shouldn't have to stand in a 3-5 hour line for a meet n greet (or anything for that matter). This helps kids who are at the mercy of their parent's poor decisions. As for adults, wait as long as you want...

They way they are explaining in another thread if that once the tickets are gone they are gone. So people run in at rope drop and take all tickets to come back. So like a everyone is screwed and don't get to see them if they don't get there to get tickets.

Well he's once they are gone they are gone. But they aren't all gone within minutes like legacy FP. It was reported that at about 10 o'clock they were giving out tickets for 5:30.

Now it has been reported all passes have been given out for the day for A&E

And every child that didn't get a card or FP is going to have their dreams crushed cause they aren't allowed in. Disney is like the government. You get health insurance....weather you want it or not.

And there will be parents with unhappy children in guest services the rest of the day

In my opinion that new system is a pretty good idea, at least for A&E. It's pretty much the same concept of legacy FP.

Let's be honest. A 5 hour wait is not good for Disney, it's not good for the CMs, it's not good for the parents and it's not good for their grumpy children. Sure, not everyone is going to be able to see Anna and Elsa, but the pre-parade at MK and the Frozen activities throughout the summer should suffice to reduce some of the urgency to see the Frozen characters.

I agree I just hope this doesn't become a routine thing with attractions around WDW because then I could see that being an issue if there is essentially no standby line.
