Disney made a huge financial investment in buying Lucas films...over $4 billion and that's not including the new movies which are coming out. You can be pretty sure that Star Wars is going to get a major expansion and be huge aspect of the rebuild. Personally I believe the bulk of DHS early work is going to be for Star Wars with the new movie coming out in 2015/2016. If Universal can make a major attraction for HP than Star Wars will get something equal or greater.

The announcement of Toy Story 4 for 2016 also gives Disney enough time to expand the Pixar area. I think it's safe to say the two areas in DHS are going to be Star Wars and Pixar and the refurbs will coincide with those films release dates. Time is ticking but believe come after this holiday season, DHS will be under a lot of construction.

Do NOT ever underestimate the cheapness of Team Disney Orlando accountants.

I will not be surprised if DHS gets 3 cheap off the shelf kiddie rides themed to Toy Story and that's it for another decade. Isn't DHS lacking a Dumbo-esque ride?

Yep...

Disney is testing a new feature that may be coming soon to MDE involving bus wait times

http://www.wdwmagic.com/other/mymag...-time-system-for-my-disney-experience-app.htm

About friggin time. I mentioned this to at least three different CMs last trip that with the current system we should be able to tell when the next bus is coming at the resorts and at the parks. In fact when we were at SSR we were talking with the girl that hangs out by the main bus stop to assist with people, and SHE had the ability to see where the busses are. Don't know what the downside would be to letting guests know when to expect a bus, except when it is more than 20 minutes out. What would be especially nice is if you get to the bus stop and realize you forgot something, you'd know if you have time to run back for it.

I would actually prefer screens at the stops, but using the APP is OK.

I thought they had already installed screens at some of the bus stops.

ETA: Yep, they have them at AKL.

Yeah, the ones at AKL are a test of the system. I am not sure what the big deal with putting monitors in. They might need 100 across the whole site. That seems like a drop in the bucket.

Just some food for everyone to chew on while I have the chance to stop by:

So its no secret by now that things are shifting over at the Studios. Out of the blue closures, removal of structures, it seems like something is going to happen, and many insiders have said exactly that. (Ok I don't call myself an insider, but I have friends inside who know things and seem pretty accurate about most of their info so I trust them) Anyway the budget for the overhaul of the park is pretty big as you already know, and if all goes well we are looking at a new park by the end of the decade. Now were not talking a few kiddie rides and call it a day type of park. Sure some new B and C tickets are in the works to be added (The rethemed Mater Jamboree ride is a real plan as of now) But you can also expect a couple of new E-Ticket attractions, and this is within the park overhaul budget. The Star Wars plans....which are happening are also getting a pretty big budget as it stands. The Star Wars budget is also REALLY a separate budget so by the end of the decade look for WELL over 2 Billion to be spent in this park alone.

Illuminations is receiving some upgrades to the regular show as well as the holiday tag this year. Say goodbye to the Water Cronkite narration as another piece of old Epcot Center heads for the door. Reflections of Earth is also going to see some tech upgrades that will really improve the show in some cool ways. Nothing about the show is going to change though.

Frozen is the new thing everyone loves to hate, especially with it moving in to Norway like it did. But in the midst of the despair and the arguments about the thematic elements fitting in Norway, there is some rays of the hope for the ride itself. Obviously the ride is staying a boat ride. The new queue is still going to use the theater space, but the old loading dock is going to be used for show scenes. While load and unload will both take place inside the original unload dock. Also it seems AA's very well might be part of the ride.

well aware that nothing is forever, but I will miss hearing Cronkite. Is this change in advance of this holiday or after the new year?

I agree with everything said except I have yet to see any other source say over 2 billion. Most have said DCA style budget which would give it over 1 billion but less than 2.

Haven't heard anything about illuminations in a while could be interesting

As for frozen that's what I've been hearing as well.

Also on a separate note Disney permits were filed today for the American idol theater, they don't have an expiration date. This is where the frozen sing a long is rumored to be headed.

2 Billion when you factor in the Star Wars budget which is completely separate from the other budget. The other budget is the DCA style budget with a 1.4 to 1.6 billion dollar tag.

Also the other question the new version starts the day after Thanksgiving.

Wait, DCA's overhaul budget included Carsland, right? or that was a separate budget?

While he's off sipping boat drinks, I just have to say.... T.O.T.S.

Kidding aside - there's no doubt something happening, and that's very good. It's the complete 180 on how they've previously managed change under this Mgt. Team and that's what's intriguing.

No artwork, no dog and pony, no managed rumors.....

I'm hoping they've seen they need to get it done and rolled their sleeves up.

I also hope it didn't crinkle those bespoke, Saville Row button downs, too much..;)

(CNN) -- Well, that didn't last long.

No sooner had speculation heated up that Disney was planning a "Frozen" sequel, to be titled "Strange Magic," than the studio sent out a news release throwing cold water all over that theory.

Turns out, "Strange Magic" is the title of a new animated movie from Lucasfilm Ltd.
http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/11/showbiz/movies/frozen-sequel-strange-magic/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Considering that Disney Animation Studios barely produces sequels (besides those direct to video sequels by DisneyToon Studios and only 3 direct sequels by DAS), that's not surprising at all. I do wonder if their willingness to develop sequels has changed in recent years though. How long will they follow Walt's ideology in regards of sequels?

Can't say I don't appreciate the fact that WDAS keeps developing original ideas instead of rehashing the one good idea. Though there are a few movies (like Wreck-it-Ralph) that have a lot of potential to be developed into at least one sequel.
