Wonderful shots. That really is a massive show building. And it's a clear sign of what I was talking about a few months ago about the boat ride system. The boat ride will clearly feature one of the new patents Disney filled last year, either the rotating boat with different speeds or the boat that can also move through land.

I think this will be the rotating boat at different speeds rather than the moving through land boat.

how do we know this? how do you guys differentiate this ride from say pirates?
Pirates is an old flume ride that looks like this.

You call tell this is a different ride system from the track that is in place.

This is Shanghai for example

We are here this week and this has been the busiest most insane trip yet! We actually considered leaving a day early it is so bad!!! Rude people pushing and shoving and you can't even walk down the sidewalk! Our breakfast at the castle was over an hour behind schedule!! Extra lines going up all over the place! It's like an insane pack of strollers and electric wheel chairs everywhere you turn and rude rude rude people. Disney you have got to start limiting attendance it is not safe for children!!! This is crazy!!
That's Nuts! This is what is normally a very uncrowded time of year (or at least as uncrowded as it gets). It's always a pain getting run over by strollers and the electric carts, it certainly seems like most people have no idea how to drive them, especially people that just rent them for the trip.

Well, can't say I know this as a fact, but as rteetz said, whereas the classic Pirates system features a very simple log flume design, this particular one seems to feature two tracks rather than one. What really caught my attention is that, when the patent was first filled by Disney, some people speculated what the patent would actually mean in terms of the ride experience, and one of the most notable features of this technology was described by Disney and More in these words:

And then came Screamscape discover a new WDI patent called " “Amusement Park Ride With Underwater-Controlled Boats” which would allow WDI Imagineers to create “a boat ride with precise speed and orientation control”. Lance, from Screamscape, explained better than i could do the patent in his 5/21/12 post and said that with this new boat ride technology "not only the boats will be able to move forward and back, but the back of the boat will be on a second “track”, allowing for the back to speed up faster than the front, thus spinning the boat AROUND. Even better… the patent exposes another interesting use for this technology on the 4th page where it shows the boat turning sideways to rotate around a central “show scene” like the hands on a clock".

From those pictures it seems to me that the ride will feature two tracks rather than one. Who knows though. I want to think that that's the case since Disney has owned this technology since 2011/12, and considering they are using new systems in Shanghai, I think it's fair to expect Disney to use it at AK. There are a few other systems they have patented that have different features, though. If you want to learn more about them, here's the article: http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2012/11/shanghai-disneyland-update-is-disney.html

Yep. My guess is this will use the exact same system as the Shanghai pirates ride or at least be very similar.
