There's another piece of this that I see almost completely missing from other discussions: Where do those people go if there not standing in line for TSMM?

The answer Disney hopes for is "The stores and restaurants to spend more money" and while this is partly true, the fact is a lot of them will be moving on to other attractions.

I couldn't help but notice this:

TSMM - Toy Story Midway Mania
To Spend More Money

Agreed. If they couldn't educate the public on legacy FP, how on earth are they going to educate them on not having a standby line. It's counterintuitive to start with. Many would just assume they heard wrong.

And as for the clumping of people in the return line...... that's easy. Just go to a 5 minute window. Problem solved! I'm sure Disney will be calling me any minute wanting me on the FP+ troubleshooting team! :rotfl2:

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not--- a 5 minute window will just end up with people getting there 15 minutes before the window and waiting in the pre que que I was discussing earlier... and then complaining ( with good reason) for not being allowed on when they miss their window by 2 minutes.

Why doesn't Disney ever do this - start building something and not acknowledge it publicly? I think that's kind of cool. Of course, maybe they are doing this with soundstage 1 - everyone's assuming it's another Toy Story track, then suddenly, BAM, Incredibles coaster! (My wishful thinking.)

I think a big part of why they don't is that the announcement is a big part of the plan. It shows they're doing something, creates anticipation, and allows them to draw it out into that Five Year Plan dribbling out artwork, models, etc.

Yeah. Definitely not serious. Most of what I say isn't. :)

The Hess Gas Station near the BoardWalk will be closing for refurbishment from October 13 2014.

The work is expected to take a couple of weeks, although no confirmed reopening date has been made available.

The other two Hess stations on property will remain open during the work, and can be found at the exit of the Magic Kingdom, and near Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Two new kiosks are coming to Downtown Disney near Fulton's on the new Disney Springs style promenade.

Set Bar - offering cocktails, and Sublime - offering gifts and finds. Both are set to open soon. Expect to see kiosks of a similar style open in areas throughout Disney Springs as a way of brining in smaller third party tenants offering unique items.

I think it's called "Set the Bar".

No...I have to disagree...

The goals are:
1. Increase giftshop time

That may be a goal, but at least for us, shortening times in line will only translate into us going on more rides... NOT spending more time/$$$ in a giftshop. I'm sure we're not the only ones with that attitude.

Cheers,

That was, according to Disney, the problem with the original FP. It didn't put people in the stores like they hoped. It put them in other ride lines.

And now the "solved" that by adding FP+ to make all the lines too long to want to stand in.

They need to be careful or people will start doing their 3, then heading over to US.

The Tower of Terror 10 Miler RunDisney event is not being continued for 2015. There have been rumors of a new event event it but nothing official yet.

If the goal is to have people in the gift shop and spend more....

put out some good merchandise.

The stuff in there is very boring and bad quality

honestly i wanted to buy something the last 5 times i went and came out thinking that nothing in there is worth wanting...forget about the price...i just didn't like anything.

Many are attributing this to the DHS construction that will be going on. More and more it seems we're getting verification that the changes are big. And they've put out the schedule officially now and no new race is out. Doesn't mean they can't add one, but it seems unlikely.

Words are tiny, but oh well:

I agree I really think big things are coming for DHS regardless of Disney spending money on DLP.

More confirmation that ToT is out for good next year...

From the W.I.S.H. thread:

I think Tower of Terror really is a no-go. My son had to defer his bib this year, so I called Run Disney to ask what happens to deferrals, and she said Run Disney would be sending out emails to those with deferrals later today...
